Wizard: Scamming a Demon God
Chapter 374 - 276: Isaac’s First Miracle
Chapter 374: Chapter 276: Isaac’s First Miracle
"Who do you want me to help with their ascension?"
Hearing Isaac’s words, Philo set down the teapot she was about to use for a refill. Handing him a piece of parchment, she explained, "Prince Norns. The destination is the Wilderness Dungeon. Within the thirty-eighth level of that dungeon lies the legacy of the Thunder God. By passing its trial, one can obtain the Extraordinary legacy of the Blade of Frenzied Thunder."
"Norns? The Blade of Frenzied Thunder?" Isaac was stunned. He looked up at Philo in surprise.
’What... what does this mean?’
The animosity between Solomon and the Terra Empire stemmed primarily from Norns, and this was especially true for Isaac. After all, the one whose Venerable Bone was carved out by the Terra Royal Family was Caesar, not him.
It wasn’t that he was completely unaffected, but his hatred didn’t run particularly deep. Besides, the victim himself, Caesar, wasn’t even thinking of revenge, so Isaac naturally let it go.
Of course, the above only applied to the Terra Royal Family, not Prince Norns!
As far as Isaac was concerned, that man, just like the Mad Witch Prank Master Gallard, was on his must-kill list.
The Terra Royal Family couldn’t possibly be unaware of this. For them to still arrange for the two of them to be together despite this... something was definitely up...
A glint appeared in Isaac’s eyes as he quickly grasped the Terra Royal Family’s true intentions.
’Prince Norns... he’s a sacrificial pawn!’
If the Empire had once refrained from moving against him out of apprehension for his "Child of Prophecy" status, now their hands were tied. The Isaac of today was a prodigy of the Flesh Sect. If they wanted to kill him, they could only send someone of the same tier; otherwise, the Sect would intervene.
And as it happened, the current Isaac was practically invincible among those of his own tier.
Of course, it wasn’t that he was unkillable, but the price was too high. It wasn’t worth it.
Therefore, under these circumstances, winning him over became the Empire’s best option. And Prince Norns was precisely the sacrificial pawn the Empire was offering up to do so.
This much was clear from the mission the Empire had arranged for Isaac.
The Endless Tower was similar to the Endless Sea in that its area was nearly infinite. The difference lay in how that infinity was expressed: for the Endless Sea, it was a boundless ocean; for the Endless Tower, it was an endless succession of parallel worlds.
The size of each parallel world varied according to its corresponding Power Level, and each had its own theme, almost like... the tales of a Legendary Mage.
And within these Little Worlds were buried countless treasures. Some were unique, left behind by powerful individuals who had entered the Endless Tower in the past. Others were automatically collected by the Endless Tower itself.
Yes, automatically collected!
Another important function of the Great Creation known as the Endless Tower was to prevent the legacies of the Real World from dying out. To this end, it automatically collected legacies from the river of history that had, for one reason or another, been lost in the Real World.
The Path of the Radiant Knight, which the Empire so desperately needed, was one such legacy. The aversion of the Deities lacked the power to affect the Endless Tower—nor would they dare try.
After all, according to the Empire’s records, every Great Creation was forged from the corpses of multiple Deities!
But to get back to the matter at hand: what the Empire needed most was the legacy of the Radiant Knight, and that particular Knightly legacy was located in the Realm of Light and Night. While the Blade of Frenzied Thunder in the Wilderness Dungeon was a decent legacy, it was nothing compared to that of the Radiant Knight. Furthermore, the Wilderness Dungeon offered no way for a Knight to acclimate to Tier Five power ahead of time. Taking all this into account, even if Norns managed to obtain the legacy with Isaac’s help...
...he would, at best, become a Legendary Knight who was slightly weaker than the average Tier Five. His impact on the Empire’s overall situation would be negligible.
’That’s why Norns is nothing more than a sacrificial pawn tossed out by the Empire.’
"Yes. Some matters must eventually be brought to a close." Facing Isaac’s look of surprise, Philo nodded, her expression serene.
"Tsk... truly, the Empire is something else." Isaac shook his head, a hint of admiration in his voice. "So, when do I get the Miracle Lampwick and the Soul Mirror?"
"Sign this contract, and you can have them right now." As if afraid Isaac would misunderstand, Philo paused before adding, "This contract also serves as the credential that guarantees your entry into the Wilderness Dungeon."
’She’s this eager for me to go to the Wilderness Dungeon?’ Isaac glanced up at Philo. She hadn’t said anything, but he could more or less guess the reason. The Empire probably had no pressing needs there, so they were "exiling" him to that place.
Isaac, however, had no objection to this. At his level, the demand for resources had slackened considerably. This was especially true for him, a Mad Witch, who had a plethora of cheap and convenient "resource suppliers."
"Alright." Isaac nodded, carefully looked at the contract, and after confirming there were no issues, he decisively signed it. Then he looked at the blank signature line and asked curiously, "Prince Norns... he’ll agree to this?"
’Even I can see the Empire is sending Norns to his death. There’s no way he can’t see it.’
"He has no choice," Philo stated flatly, her words a perfect embodiment of the Royal Family’s ruthlessness.
Isaac gave Philo a surprised look, nodded, and said no more. He handed the contract back to her and left with the book of records on the Endless Tower. There was far too much to unpack in it, and he needed to study it thoroughly.
After leaving the Imperial Palace, Isaac returned directly to his manor and buried himself in research on how to use the Miracle Lampwick. He didn’t even show up to freeload meals anymore. During this period, Prince Norns sent people to find him several times, but Isaac refused to see any of them, his mind focused solely on the opening of the Endless Tower.
’A truce?’
’In his dreams!’
...
In the manor, Isaac stroked his chin, lost in thought. He stared at the Magic Book floating above Harmon’s savage palm, shimmering with a multicolored glow. He was contemplating which of his creations to elevate into a Miracle.
According to his original plan, he was meant to elevate the story of "The Ugly Duckling." Its ability to awaken bloodlines would have been helpful for his ongoing research into the Mad Heart Sorcerer. However, that plan was based on him advancing to a Tier Four Mage through the proper steps. If he was going to take a shortcut, he needed to pick something that would boost his combat power—his most pressing need at the moment.
But...
Currently, he had written a total of four stories: the Tier One "Cinderella" and "The Ugly Duckling," the Tier Two "Snow White," and the Tier Three "The Investiture of the Gods."
Yes, "The Investiture of the Gods!"
Originally, this particular story wasn’t part of his plan. For one, its subject matter was sensitive. For another...
To be honest, the original version of the story wasn’t all that remarkable compared to other classics, and it was significantly more difficult to Westernize.
But as the saying goes, plans are subject to change. After all, he was the one who had started researching how to enslave Deities.
’And what could be more straightforward for that purpose than this story?’
This, however, left Isaac in an awkward position. While he had one more story than the average Legendary Mage, it seemed none of them offered any significant combat power...
