Wizard: Scamming a Demon God
Chapter 363 - 266: The Confidence of a Cesspit
Chapter 363: Chapter 266: The Confidence of a Cesspit
Meanwhile, as Isaac’s power washed over him, Gallard’s expression changed abruptly. Facing both Caesar and Lorna was already a massive headache. One was a Divine Favored, the other a High-level Witch—they were both damned stat monsters.
As a Mad Sorcerer, his power was considerable, but he was far from invincible. In a fight to the death, there was no way he could survive against Caesar. The man was a Divine Favored, after all!
And one who was constantly watched over by his Deity, no less!
For one thing, with the God’s Resurrection Technique alone, you were helpless against him. That technique was cast by a Deity in person; resurrecting a Tier Three Knight was child’s play.
Not to mention, Caesar’s own combat prowess was already exceptional.
Honestly, it was a two-on-one. He had only found an opening thanks to Lorna, that High-level Witch who had powerful abilities and high stats but not a shred of combat experience. If she hadn’t been there, Caesar might have already taken him down by now.
But all he could do was barely hold on. He couldn’t even escape, because...
With a grim expression, Gallard glanced at the colossal golden statue behind Caesar. As a signature power of the Path of the Gods, the statue naturally did more than just enhance a Knight’s destructive power and Authority Power—at least, that wasn’t all it did anymore.
Most Knight statues possessed the ability to lock down space. This meant that when a High-level Knight on the Path of the Gods manifested their statue, any spatial-displacement Magic would be nullified within a certain radius around it!
And that was just for an ordinary Knight’s statue. Some of the more powerful ones could even impose a Magic Ban or a Sealing Authority within a certain area!
Of course, Caesar’s statue wasn’t quite that powerful, but it could still lock down the space enough to prevent Gallard from escaping. This was why, after Isaac had joined the fray, Gallard couldn’t just teleport away like the Grey-robed Mage.
While Isaac also had techniques for sealing off space, they were of the Wizard’s path. A contest between such techniques came down to a matter of sophistication, and in that regard, the Grey-robed Mage—a member of the Travelers—was certainly more skilled than Isaac. After all, they could create entire Little Worlds, let alone break through a minor spatial seal.
But Caesar’s method was different. It wasn’t just pure Knight’s Power; it also involved the power of the Deity behind him. Its intensity was extremely high, leaving Gallard completely unable to find a way to counter it!
This was one reason why Isaac had gone straight for the Grey-robed Mage earlier, while Caesar had gone for Gallard.
It was the best way to prevent him from escaping.
Sensing Isaac’s power rapidly bearing down on him, Gallard’s eyes flickered. He gritted his teeth, his hands flying in a blur before his chest as he chanted an ancient, evil Spell. A ceaseless torrent of deep red Magic Power erupted from his body, connecting with some unknown Concepts of the world to form a scarlet full moon behind him.
Seeing this, Caesar’s expression changed drastically. The colossal statue behind him reached out, scooped up Lorna, and pulled back with great speed!
He had actually wanted to grab Isaac as well, but Isaac dodged the statue’s outstretched hand with a nimble turn.
Seeing this, Caesar grew anxious. What Gallard was doing was no small matter, especially for a Wizard!
"Isaac! Get back! He’s trying to take you down with him!"
"I know. It’s just a bit of an Evil God’s Knowledge, nothing major." Facing the crimson moon’s glow, a red light flashed in Isaac’s eyes as he charged unwaveringly toward Gallard.
’As a Wizard, if even a melee brute like Caesar knew about this, of course Isaac did too. It was just a filth-flinging desperation tactic, the same kind he himself had been about to use on the Grey-robed Mage, though Gallard’s version was far more violent.’
Every Mad Sorcerer’s path to power is paved with vast amounts of Outer God Power. Normally, this power remains suppressed and hidden within their bodies by the Gate of Legends and various rituals, accumulating for one final, explosive moment. At that moment, they either become a being that transcends the very gods, or they are utterly devoured by that power!
However, before that final moment arrives, a Mad Sorcerer can also choose to release—or rather, detonate—this power. It is the ultimate trump card for every Mad Sorcerer!
Once used, there’s no telling if the enemy will die, but the user themselves will, in all likelihood, be left half-dead!
It was, one might say, the ultimate version of the filth-flinging tactic!
This power was different from the move Isaac had used earlier. What Isaac had channeled was merely the power of the malevolent Original Scriptures from his dealings with Evil Gods, not the ultimate power hidden within his own body. Therefore, his power required Analysis by the target before its Erosion would begin. In other words, it was targeted. If you were a brute who just clashed with him head-on without attempting any Analysis, you wouldn’t be affected in the slightest.
But Gallard’s move was different. This thing was like one of the unnamable horrors—one glance could make you explode!
But even though it was so dangerous, Isaac charged forward without a second thought. For a Mad Sorcerer who had already mastered their own unique nature, detonating this power prematurely only carried a high probability of death, not a certainty.
He refused to give this guy any chance. ’Besides, it’s merely Outer God Power,’ he thought. ’Such things sound terrifying, but in the end, it all comes down to your own stats—namely, your [Mysterious] attribute.’
The higher the [Mysterious] attribute, the stronger one’s resistance to such things.
And in that regard...
Isaac was by no means weak. As far back as his time as an Official Wizard, he had been scheming to raise his [Mysterious] attribute. In both his own advancement ritual and that of Demon Claw Harmon, he had prioritized increasing his [Mysterious] attribute whenever possible.
Upon his advancement to High-level Mage, his very life form had undergone an earth-shattering transformation. The [Mysterious] attribute he had accumulated from past rituals finally came to a head, bursting forth in a massive surge that granted him a huge boost.
Furthermore, Legendary Mages are masters at manipulating the [Mysterious] attribute. The further one progresses, the greater the demand for [Mysterious]. Over time, numerous techniques have been developed to enhance one’s [Mysterious] attribute without affecting their [Sense of Presence]. The minimum requirement to use these techniques is to be a High-level Mage, which provided him yet another massive boost.
Finally, there was his status as a Mad Sorcerer. While each Outer God, due to their unique form of existence, is far weaker in terms of raw power than a Great Wizard who has fully stepped into the [Mysterious], their conceptual standing within the [Mysterious] is not necessarily much lower. Most stand at the very apex of the [Mysterious].
Therefore, after making deals and having "friendly exchanges" with numerous Outer Gods, Isaac’s own [Mysterious] attribute had received a correspondingly huge boost.
On top of all that, the unfathomably Mysterious Ancient Evil God linked to the Demon Eye on his brow and the one on his Magic Wand further increased his [Mysterious] attribute.
It was no exaggeration to say that, in terms of the [Mysterious] attribute alone, Isaac wasn’t far behind a Tier Four Miracle Mage. In fact, when it came to resistance against Outer Gods, he stood at the very apex of Tier Four!
This was the true reason he dared to face Gallard’s power head-on!
