Chapter 341: Chapter 247: Battle of the Floating Sea - Infinite Demon God Armor (4)
For Legendary Mages who have reached the stage of a High-level Mage, many materials are no longer essential when arranging a ritual. The stronger their grasp of Concepts, the more freedom they have in the process.
Therefore, for certain High-level Mages skilled at manipulating Concepts, Ritual Magic is no longer impractical; it can even see preliminary use in combat.
Of course, High-level Mages rarely use Ritual Magic for combat. While powerful, it’s clearly no match for Authority Magic. At least in the current era, Ritual Magic remains impractical for fighting, unless one imbues it with a sufficiently powerful [Mysterious] attribute.
But...
If you had that much powerful [Mysterious] attribute to spare, under the current Path of Wizardry, what kind of Magic wouldn’t be strong?
While there is a saying that the Magic of a Legendary Mage grows stronger with age, that was a notion from many years ago. The Path of Wizardry is a path to seek Truth, so it is inherently always advancing.
Even Legendary Mages who pursue the [Mysterious] have developed methods to imbue the [Mysterious] attribute into modern Magic, granting it a status equivalent to ancient magic. As such, there is no longer a need to chase after ancient magic as in the past.
Moreover, modern High-level Mages also master Authority Magic, a miraculous Technique that allows them to unleash the full potential of their own Authority.
But there is one exception to this—the Mad Witch!
Among Legendary Mages, Mad Witches are inherently the most adept at manipulating Concepts and rituals. Furthermore, the rituals they specialize in are often related to Outer Gods, making their lethality absolutely unparalleled.
However, even among Mad Witches, one like Isaac, who uses a trading ritual with an Outer God as a direct means of attack...
...was a whole other species of crazy.
"Ho... ly... shit!"
Out in the open sea, the other powerful beings also noticed the enormous, incredibly evil ritual field that had suddenly appeared on the battlefield!
In that instant, the expressions of everyone present—whether from the Mechanical God Sect or the Flesh Sect—changed drastically. They stared at Isaac in utter disbelief, completely stunned by the madman’s actions.
After a brief moment of shock, the crowd that had been fighting to the death just a second before immediately disengaged and fled, rapidly distancing themselves from Isaac as if he were covered in shit. They couldn’t get away fast enough!
Because none of them had any idea what the hell Isaac’s ritual was meant to sacrifice!
Admittedly, the Wizards present were all Legendary Mages. Even the Wizards from the Mechanical God Sect, who specialized in the modification of Mechanical Bodies, had a deep understanding of rituals.
But...
This was a ritual related to an Outer God. What sane person would study this kind of thing for no reason?
Never mind that their current knowledge was insufficient to analyze the ritual; even if it were, they wouldn’t dare get mixed up in anything involving a Mad Witch. After all...
...gamblers always die a dog’s death!
However, it only looked dangerous. In reality, Isaac was as steady as a rock, because the margin for error displayed by his Golden Finger was still one thousand percent!
Moreover, this one thousand percent was merely the upper limit of what the Golden Finger could display, not the upper limit of the offering’s potential!
This was because Isaac’s sacrifice this time was different in two respects—
First, the target was different. This sacrifice was aimed at a Mechanical Evil God from the Deep Sea who loved to collect all sorts of Mechanical Bodies. As such, mechanical creations were a huge bonus in His eyes.
Second, the method was different. Previously, the offerings for a ritual, besides needing to satisfy the ritual’s conceptual requirements, also had to be Isaac’s own possessions. This [ownership] was on a conceptual level.
This was one reason why Mad Witches were reluctant to use trading rituals with Outer Gods, though the primary factor was, of course, the danger.
But that only applied to ordinary Mad Witches. Isaac, on the other hand, thought using a trading ritual in combat was a brilliant idea. It could effectively eliminate enemies while also allowing him to fleece the Outer God!
It was a win-win!
He won twice!
The Isaac of today had terrifying initiative. Once the idea surfaced, he quickly developed a corresponding method—a little trick that made the ritual field misidentify a Concept!
This trick successfully allowed Isaac’s genius idea to come to fruition!
Of course, this wasn’t without a cost.
The cost was that the efficacy of a given Concept within the ritual field was drastically reduced. Now, it would take ten, a hundred, or even a thousand times the amount of the same Concept to achieve the effect of a single original portion.
So, while he had developed the technique, opportunities to apply it were extremely rare. After all, it wasn’t often that one found the chance to gather such vast quantities.
After all, if the success rate was too low, this move was simply suicidal—a free meal delivered straight to an Outer God.
But things were different now. The Wizards of the Mechanical God Sect had deployed a vast number of Mechanical Bodies in this sea. With just a small trick, Isaac could alter their conceptual ownership, even if he couldn’t seize direct control of them.
But offering them up as a sacrifice to the Outer God? That was still quite easy.
As the ritual unfolded, a terrifying gaze pierced through from beyond the world. On another battlefield, several Miracle Mages who had been clashing also noticed this being’s gaze. They froze, stopping their attacks with a blank yet mutual understanding, all of them staring intently in Isaac’s direction.
At the level of a Miracle Mage, even an Outer God posed a considerable threat. After all, the further one walked the Path of the Extraordinary, the wider the power gaps became. Compared to an Outer God, their strength was still far too weak.
However, they were ultimately much stronger than High-level Mages. Plus, only a fraction of an Outer God’s power could be projected into the Real World. On top of that, this was the Endless Sea, a recent Creation of a Great Wizard, which meant the power an Outer God could project here was extremely limited.
Thus, the gaze sent a chill down their spines, but it wasn’t enough to make them flee. Besides, if this Mad Witch Isaac failed, they would be the ones left to clean up the mess.
At this thought, the two Miracle Mages from the Mechanical God Sect shot the Flesh Sect’s Wizards an even more displeased look. To think they’d actually sent a madman like that into battle!
The Black-robed Mage and Green-robed Mage of the Flesh Sect naturally noticed their glares, but neither said a word. They simply looked silently in Isaac’s direction, preparing to deal with any potential crisis.
’There was nothing they could say. No one had anticipated Isaac’s move. Who the hell knew the lunatic was crazy enough to trade with an Outer God right on the battlefield!’
’And...’
’...it looked like he was even using the Mechanical God Sect’s Creations as offerings...’
’So ballsy, doing it right in their faces... This guy...’
’...is kind of terrifying~’
Meanwhile, Isaac, having completed the ritual’s arrangement, had no idea just how shocked everyone was by his actions. His entire focus was now on communicating with the Outer God.
While secretly siphoning power from the Mysterious Void, Isaac took out a sphere and, putting on a show for the Outer God whose gaze was upon him, began to speak.
"Great One, please help me repair this Demonic Puppet Armor!"
