Chapter 333: Chapter 241: Flesh Is Weak, Mechanical Ascension?

He had always believed that knowledge was the most fundamental source of a Wizard’s power!

No matter what kind of knowledge.

This made him curious. What kind of mentality did the Wizards of the Mechanical God Sect have to possess to harbor such a belief? Or, to put it another way, did such foolish Wizards truly exist in this world?

Did they truly believe it, deep down?

Isaac had his doubts.

After selecting the mission, Isaac went to the Sect Dimension to collect the necessary items. There wasn’t much, really. First was a locator that could pinpoint the target island’s exact location and use the power of the Sect Dimension to maintain real-time contact with the Sect, ensuring there were no mistakes regarding the objective.

Second was a War Magic Scroll called the Large Mineral Collection Technique. The Magic’s effect was incredibly simple and brutal: it indiscriminately collected all minerals within its casting range, taking the principle of "draining the pond to catch the fish" to its absolute extreme!

This type of Magic was typically only used on enemy territory, specifically on land that one’s own side could not capture and hold.

Furthermore, only blood enemies would resort to such a measure.

Finally, there was an intelligence report—information on the target island, and the most important of the three items.

The intelligence report detailed the island’s basic situation. It didn’t include specifics on the defensive layout, but it did list the High-level Combat Power present.

Only one High-level Mage was stationed on the island. However, excluding the Mage, there were a total of seven other units of High-level Combat Power!

Three of them were High-level Mechanical Constructs, and one was a High-tier Golem, all of them purely Mechanical Creations. Aside from the Golem, which possessed some mining and manufacturing capabilities, the other three were standard combat-type Mechanical Constructs, their templates configured as the standard Wizard Slayer series.

Aside from the Mechanical Creations, the other three units of High-level Combat Power were High-level Knights who had undergone a certain degree of mechanical modification.

This was a formidable lineup.

Therefore, the Sect’s recommendation was to form a team. However, Isaac had to find his own teammates. Just as the Flesh Sect could obtain intelligence on the Mechanical God Sect, the reverse was also true. If the Sect arranged every detail, it would be an act of irresponsibility toward its members.

But Isaac didn’t look for teammates. He didn’t even call on Liu Li and the others, opting to undertake the mission alone.

It wasn’t that Isaac was being arrogant; he simply didn’t think this lineup was anything special.

Aside from that High-level Mage, what were the others but a bunch of useless rabble?

High-level Knights?

If they were High-level Knights of pure flesh and blood, Isaac might have afforded them a bit more respect. But those who had undergone mechanical modification...

Heh. The path beyond High-level Knight relied heavily on tempering the physical body. The willpower forged in this process was one of the key factors that allowed them to contend with Wizards.

By abandoning the purity of the flesh, their willpower was weakened by more than a small margin, and even their grasp on their Authority would become unstable.

As for the Mechanical Constructs...

’Give me half a chance and one Star of the Secret Star,’ Isaac thought, ’and those four will turn traitor on the spot!’

Due to certain special rules Isaac was not yet aware of, Mechanical Constructs below Tier Four were not permitted to be endowed with a will during their creation, unless through a special ability like his own.

Isaac didn’t know the specific reason, but he was certain those four were not true lifeforms. At best, they possessed a highly sophisticated, personoid intelligence, much like a Tower Spirit.

Therefore, on the entire island, the only things Isaac considered a genuine threat were its defense systems and that one High-level Mage.

It had to be said, in a large-scale War, having a Dimension World versus not having one put you on a completely different level of engagement.

After collecting his mission items, Isaac transited through the Sect Dimension and arrived near the target island on the very same day.

Though called an island, it was actually quite large—only slightly smaller than a conventional Kingdom. But the Endless Sea was simply too vast, and since the land was surrounded by water, calling it an island wasn’t much of a stretch.

But despite its size, most of the island was worthless desert. The only truly valuable area was the hilly region at its center, which was rich with vast deposits of precious ore!

Many of them were even open-pit mines!

To the Mechanical God Sect, this was naturally of extraordinary value, which was why they had stationed so many units of High-level Combat Power there. Furthermore, for other factions, the vast, worthless desert terrain would have been a major logistical headache.

But for the Mechanical God Sect, which only needed the mineral deposits, this was undoubtedly a huge advantage!

They used Demonic Puppets for all their mining, and Demonic Puppets didn’t have the same stringent environmental requirements as humans. Desert or oasis, it made no difference to them.

Thus, the value of this originally worthless desert skyrocketed. The open, uniform terrain was perfect for the Mechanical God Sect to enact sweeping transformations, allowing them to pile on weapons and defensive installations to their hearts’ content.

The Mechanical God Sect was already highly efficient, and encountering a region that was like a blank slate only increased that efficiency. So by the time Isaac arrived near the island via the Sect Dimension, what greeted him was an already heavily fortified Steel Island!

Cloaked by Invisibility Magic, Isaac stood in mid-air, his gaze calm as he observed the heavily defended island. The locator in his hand operated silently, further confirming the mission’s objective.

The island’s defenses were formidable, but again, Isaac was supremely confident in his own power.

After a moment, the locator flashed with a green fluorescent light, officially confirming the target.

With a flip of his right hand, Isaac put the device away. He then leaned forward and flew straight toward the heavily fortified Steel Island!

"BLARE! BLARE! BLARE!!!"

As expected of the Steel Island personally constructed by the Mechanical God Sect. Even though he was cloaked in Invisibility Magic, the moment Isaac drew slightly closer, alarms began to blare across the island. Simultaneously, terrifying barrages of attacks ignored his Invisibility Magic and locked onto him.

Clearly, they had truly detected him; this was no false alarm.

Even so, Isaac’s expression remained unchanged, because...

...his Authority Magic had been activated long before he even made his move!

"Authority Magic: Arrogant Turtle!"

In a mere instant, the power of the Authority [Positive Infinitesimal] swept across the entire island!

Immediately, the Steel Island—which moments ago had been resounding with sky-piercing alarms and radiating terrifying waves of Magic Power—instantly fell silent...

Both the alarms and the terrifying waves of Magic Power vanished without a trace in a single breath!

Isaac had forced nearly all matter and Magic Power on the island into a state of stagnation!

"Heretic of the Flesh Sect! So you’ve come, just as we expected!"

However, Isaac was, after all, only a single High-level Mage. Some things on the island remained unaffected: the High-level Mage mentioned in the intel, a second High-level Mage who *wasn’t* mentioned, and a specially modified Knight who was also absent from the report.

He was particularly surprised by the Knight. He had already anticipated the possibility of extra Mages. This was a battle of attack and defense; the Mechanical God Sect wouldn’t just be on the defensive. They would have their attackers, their defenders, and naturally, forces lying in ambush.

The presence of two, or even more, High-level Mages was entirely within his expectations.

What did surprise him was the other High-level Knight—one who had undergone extensive physical modification yet had still managed to break free from his Authority Magic.

Watching the approaching Iron Man, Isaac narrowed his eyes. A subtle ripple flowed within them as he rapidly analyzed the newcomer.

"Authority Magic: Desperate Rabbit."

"WHOOSH!"

To the High-level Knight’s utter shock, the Greatsword slashing toward Isaac came to a dead stop right in front of him.

No, to be precise, it hadn’t stopped!

He felt no barrier in front of his Greatsword. He was still swinging with all his might, but it was as if an uncrossable chasm had opened between him and Isaac. No matter how much force he exerted, he couldn’t close the distance!

’A spatial defense?’

’Doesn’t seem like it.’

Streams of data flowed through the Knight’s modified eyes as he rapidly analyzed the situation. Various solutions appeared and were discarded in the same instant.

But before the Knight could react, Isaac’s counterattack came...

"BOOM!!!"
