Wizard: Scamming a Demon God
Chapter 270 - 206: There’s Another Master?
Chapter 270: Chapter 206: There’s Another Master?
Although they knew Isaac had successfully advanced when his spine began to gather Magic Power, it wasn’t until he actually walked out that they could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
Then, everyone’s gaze fell upon the new silver Magic Staff in Isaac’s hand. The staff was entirely silver. It was strange—though it was just a straight, seamless rod and a sculpture of a Dragon’s claw clutching a heart, at a glance, it looked like a pristine white spine with a ferocious Demon Claw splayed wantonly at its end...
Holy, and yet bizarre...
Noticing their stares, Isaac smiled faintly and brandished the Magic Staff in his hand. "This is called the ’Evil Celestial Dragon Staff.’ Like the Wizard Robe I’m wearing, it’s a Magic Tool exclusive to a Legendary Mage. Like most Magic Staffs, it can assist with and enhance Casting. At the same time, it can also use my ability to transform tissue with me. For instance..."
"HISS~"
"HISS~"
Isaac tilted his head slightly, a gentle smile on his face. The next moment, a bizarre eye opened between his brows. It first glanced around curiously, but then the lively expression within it faded in disappointment, turning it into an unconscious Demon Eye. However, although the Evil God’s gaze had retreated, its power did not vanish with it.
However, compared to the Demon Eye between Isaac’s brows which had gone from lively to inert, the Demon Eye that appeared on the surface of the staff’s heart looked somewhat dull. This was because this Demon Eye was not connected to the Evil God, and thus naturally couldn’t grant Isaac any abilities.
Aside from Liu Li and Shushu, everyone else just stared at Isaac, looking rather dazed.
Clearly, they couldn’t quite comprehend this abstract and twisted scene.
Of course, Isaac took in all their reactions. In truth, he didn’t understand it either, but there was nothing to be done. This was the price of power. He had wanted things to be more normal, too, and had even strived for it.
’But what could he do? The Outer Gods were just too generous!’
And this proved a certain Truth—’As long as you’re willing to abandon your humanity, you’re invincible!’
Among their group, probably only Liu Li and Shushu could accept his grotesque combat form. After all, Liu Li’s own true form was quite bizarre, and though she thought she had hidden it well, Isaac had known for a long time.
As for Shushu...
It was just plain simple-minded. It lacked any normal cognition; for Shushu, Isaac’s appearance was the *only* normal one. Everything else was heresy!
After the brief demonstration, Isaac closed the Demon Eyes on his forehead and the staff. The Magic Staff in his hand then dissolved into a radiance of Magic Power and vanished.
"All right, you’re all dismissed. I have things to attend to. That’s all. Dismissed."
After speaking, a blue Magic Vortex appeared behind Isaac. He turned and stepped into it, leaving everyone to stare at each other in confusion. ’This... this doesn’t seem to follow the plan we talked about...’
’Shouldn’t there be a celebratory banquet after an advancement?’
’We already prepared all the food...’
But it was Isaac’s order, so they couldn’t object. After exchanging glances, they each departed. The researchers went back to studying Magic, the administrators to managing the territory, the recruiters to hiring, and the cleaners to tidying up...
Soon, the top floor of the Mage Tower was completely empty.
On the other side, Isaac stepped through the Magic Vortex and arrived in a vast, white hall. He walked through the great hall, which was filled with a white mist, and curiously examined the names left on the four walls. Some were familiar, while others belonged to people he didn’t recognize at all. The name of his eldest sister, Cheryl Solomon, was among them.
This was the final step in advancing to a High-level Mage, or rather, the very first task after doing so: registration!
This was a rule passed down since ancient times.
At first, it was merely to ensure that Wizards who made contributions to the Path of Wizardry would be remembered by the world. Later, as more and more Wizards left their names, this place gained more and more significance, and leaving one’s name here began to come with tangible benefits.
For example, a Legendary Mage could increase their own significance and strengthen their Anchor Point with the world by leaving their name here. For the cultivation of a Legendary Mage, this was a very real benefit.
Now, however, as Legendary Mages developed more and more methods, the added significance from leaving a name here was something they gradually came to disregard. As for Arcanists, they had no need for Anchor Points in the first place, so they naturally had no need to leave their names here either.
But this had been done for so many years that it had long since become a custom, a tradition. So, whether one was an Arcanist, a Legendary Mage, or a Witch, as long as they advanced to Tier Three, they had to come here and leave their name.
Of course, this was an honor exclusive to Casters. Melee brutes like Knights, let alone reaching Tier Three, wouldn’t be qualified to leave their name here even if they became a Demigod!
Isaac was strolling through the palace, leisurely looking at the names carved all around, when he suddenly froze. He actually sensed a familiar aura here!
’But...’
’Wasn’t only one person at a time supposed to be able to enter this place?’
’No, that’s not quite right. To be precise, in the instance of this place that I am in, there should only be me. After all, as the world grew larger and its influence wider, more and more Wizards would come here. As a sacred place, it couldn’t be as noisy as a marketplace.’
