Chapter 436 - 331: Superpower Management Bureau, Generous Benefits

"The Great Yan Superpower Management Bureau officially invites you to join. Of course, you can refuse."

"But given your current status as an Awakener... you’re also a target for cults like the Doomsday Cult."

"Once they’ve marked you, you’ll face an endless stream of trouble."

"If you join the Management Bureau, you’ll gain the protection of Great Yan, resources, and... opportunities for growth."

Wei Song looked down at the badge. The design of an eagle and flames gave off a stern, deadly aura.

"Thank you for the invitation, Group Leader Zhou. I agree to join."

He reached out and took the badge. The metal felt cool to the touch but was quickly warmed by the heat of his palm.

A hint of a smile touched Zhou Zhen’s eyes as he nodded.

"Get in. I’ll explain the situation on the way."

He turned and walked toward the SUV in the middle, pulling open the door. Wei Song followed.

The vehicle started up with a low rumble from its engine. It turned around and headed toward the city lights.

The car’s interior was spacious. Besides the driver, only Zhou Zhen and Wei Song were inside.

Zhou Zhen sat in the front passenger seat, turning to face Wei Song in the back.

"Our Management Bureau’s full name is the ’Great Yan General Administration for Superpower User Management and Special Incident Handling.’"

"It’s the only official and legal organization in the Great Yan Kingdom that manages Superpower Users. Our coverage extends to every province, city, and county in the nation, all the way down to the township level."

"It has four primary functions."

He held up his fingers, ticking them off one by one.

"First, exterminating cults. Traitors like the Doomsday Cult who’ve thrown their lot in with the Abyssal Rift are cancers lurking within human society. We kill them on sight."

"Second, guarding the Rifts. As you probably know, the two realms merged two hundred years ago, and Abyssal Rifts appeared all over the world. Although most were cleansed by the ’Big Mushrooms,’ some always slip through the cracks and require long-term monitoring."

"Third, maintaining Order. Superpower Users possess abilities far beyond ordinary people, so they must be kept in check. The Management Bureau is responsible for overseeing them to ensure they don’t abuse their powers and harm society."

"And finally, cultivating new talent. For new Awakeners like yourself, we provide systematic training and resources to help you grow quickly and become a strategic asset to the nation."

Zhou Zhen paused after saying this.

"Once you join the Management Bureau and are officially registered, you’ll receive a government stipend. The amount varies based on your Superpower Level and contributions."

"There’s also housing. A single Awakener like you can typically get a fully furnished two-bedroom apartment, completely move-in ready."

"And preferential treatment for your family. Your immediate relatives will receive priority consideration for medical care, education, and employment."

His tone was calm as he laid out the terms for Wei Song, each sentence carrying a heavy weight.

All of these things, now suddenly within his grasp, had once been unattainable dreams.

’So this is what it’s like to be a Superpower User? I just had my Awakening, and it’s already better than some of the cushiest government jobs from my past life!’

Wei Song listened quietly, his gaze fixed on the view outside the window.

The SUV was now on a smooth highway, flanked by sprawling farmland. In the distance, the city’s silhouette grew increasingly clear.

Skyscrapers dotted the landscape, their lights dazzling, overlapping once more with the scene in his memory.

"Of course, rights come with responsibilities."

Zhou Zhen’s voice pulled Wei Song back from his wandering thoughts.

"Superpower Users are forbidden from attacking ordinary people at will. Violators will be severely punished."

"You must obey deployment orders for major missions and cannot refuse without a valid reason."

"You must undergo regular check-ups and evaluations to ensure your mental state is stable and that you haven’t been corrupted by the Abyss."

He glanced at Wei Song. "Can you accept these terms?"

"I can accept them."

Wei Song nodded. These were all reasonable duties, and he had no objection to them.

Zhou Zhen grunted in acknowledgment, leaning back into his seat and looking straight ahead.

The car fell silent for a moment, the only sounds being the drone of the engine and the soft crunch of the tires on the pavement.

Wei Song suddenly thought of something and broke the silence.

"How are the Levels for Superpower Users classified?"

Without turning around, Zhou Zhen’s voice came from the passenger seat.

"Someone at your stage is a Level One Awakener. You’ve begun to grasp your Superpower, but your Control Power is weak and its overall Power is limited."

"Those who can finely manipulate their Superpower are considered Level Two Controllers. They’ve developed various ways to apply it, and their combat strength is significantly higher. Of course, these are just rough classifications."

"At Level Three, you’re called a Grandmaster. Your understanding of your Superpower reaches another level, allowing you to form a unique ’Domain’ or ’Rule Manifestation.’ A single Grandmaster can defend an entire city."

He paused in thought for a moment. "Beyond that, there are even higher Realms, but those are still a long way off for you."

"Don’t get ahead of yourself. For now, focus on improving your current abilities."

Zhou Zhen turned his head to the side, glancing at Wei Song.

"You should know, every single Awakener is an exceptionally talented individual."

"Jiangzhou City has a population of over ten million, yet there are only a little over thirty thousand registered Awakeners."

"The fact that you Awakened already makes you one in a thousand."

Wei Song listened intently without a word, recalling information from his memories.

’My initial test results were... no Superpower Talent. I couldn’t even find a job, hitting dead ends everywhere. And now, I’d become one in five hundred.’

The car fell silent again.

The view outside had changed to city streets. Streetlights flashed past, one after another, creating flowing ribbons of light across the window.

Wei Song watched the neon signs, the hurrying pedestrians, and this strange, prosperous world.

The warmth in his chest pulsed faintly, as if in response to his thoughts.

Half an hour later, the car turned onto a relatively quiet street.

Wei Song spoke again.

"Aside from learning combat Skills, how do you actually improve the Superpower itself and make it stronger?"
