Chapter 79: Chapter 79: Horror from the Mysterious Eastern Culture

Chen Shang looked up. The one speaking was a Tier Three Dragon Race creature deep within the cell block.

Covered in scales, the creature had a row of protruding spine bones running from the back of its neck down to its tail. At this moment, it glared at him fiercely. "What are you looking at? Even though I’m imprisoned, I’m still an important experimental subject. Do you actually dare to kill me?"

Chen Shang remained silent for a moment. He really couldn’t kill this creature; although the inmate was on death row, it was crucial to Wizard Hathaway’s research.

"Hahaha, the pretty boy has nothing to say! Not only can you not kill me, but you also have to serve us good food and drinks." Seeing Chen Shang remain silent, the Sub-dragon mocked him even more.

A roar of laughter immediately echoed through the cell block.

Chen Shang stayed quiet as he walked over step by step. He took out his Identity Card to control the Runes in the cell. Following his will, the Runes formed a giant hand, pinning the Dragon Race creature’s massive body firmly against the wall.

Even then, the creature continued to clamor, "You dare kill me? If you delay Master Wizard’s research, you won’t get away with it either!"

Chen Shang sneered. With a wave of his hand, the Runes in the cell formed a sharp blade. A silver light flashed. With one clean and decisive cut, he sliced off the creature’s massive member.

"In my hometown, there’s a tradition that believes ’like nourishes like.’ Soaking this thing in liquor makes a potent tonic. Something from the Dragon Race should have an even stronger effect, right?"

Amidst the Sub-dragon’s agonizing wails, he calmly continued, "Since you have the ability of high-speed regeneration, that means no matter how much I cut off, you can grow it back?

"This is truly wonderful. May the great Wizard’s Will bless me to find a market for this in the Pan-Wizard World... You idiot, didn’t you know I’m currently short on money?"

The Sub-dragon’s cries came to an abrupt halt. Its gaze turned to pure terror as it trembled, looking at Chen Shang as if it had just seen the most terrifying Demon in the world.

"Is this Wizard Apprentice actually going to soak my thing in liquor and sell it? Good heavens! How could such a terrifying person exist?" it thought in horror.

Saphiron had run amok for half of its life. Even after being thrown into a Wizard prison, it had been supplied with good food and drink. Relying on its high-speed regeneration ability, it had been entirely dismissive of the administrators. (In reality, the other Wizard Apprentices had simply ignored it).

It never expected to encounter such a ruthless fiend today—someone who would slice it off without a word. Had its proudest innate talent just become... a money-making tool for this guy?

Chen Shang looked up. The cell block was dead silent. Not even the severely injured Sub-dragon dared to let out a whimper, and not a single creature dared to look Chen Shang in the eye.

"I don’t care what Plane you were on before or what crimes you committed. Now that you are here, you only have one identity—experimental subjects!

"Listen to me closely. From now on, you will honestly cooperate with my work. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, you will actively pay your respects. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, you will record the data for me. On Sundays, you will clean the rooms. If anyone dares to not cooperate, that means you are wasting my time!"

Chen Shang scanned the area. All the creatures lowered their heads. He enunciated every word, "I am a very efficient person. Whoever dares to waste my time, I will make them wish they were dead!"

"Understood, Master!" a chorus of trembling responses echoed through the cell block.

After a long while, a fierce-looking pig-headed man asked in a small voice, "Master, what do Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mean?"

Chen Shang paused. The seven-day week system was a concept from his homeland. Naturally, these death row inmates wouldn’t know about it, especially since they came from various Planes with completely different calendar systems.

So, he snapped viciously, "It means that whatever I say goes! You are not allowed to disobey my orders, you are not allowed to delay my work, and you are not allowed to form gangs in the cell! If anyone dares to disobey, humph!"

He didn’t finish the sentence, but after seeing him slice off a dragon’s junk right off the bat, none of the inmates dared to imagine what kind of punishment they would face.

Seeing that all the death row inmates had obediently fallen in line, Chen Shang stuffed the Sub-dragon’s appendage into his Space Book and left the cell block with a brisk step.

At the same time, he thought to himself, "Master Hathaway said death row inmates were dangerous, but aren’t they quite easy to manage?"

That evening.

Having returned to the Starfall Laboratory, Chen Shang was adjusting the structure of the Zhong Kui Rune at the Recording Platform when Surtr walked over from the Temperature-Controlled District.

The half-human-tall Magma Giant cub radiated an orange-red glow from the cracks in its dark red skin. It stopped beside Chen Shang and nudged his arm with its head.

"Boss, help me register a Celestial Net account." Surtr’s voice was deep and heavy.

Chen Shang set down his rune pen and asked curiously, "What do you need a Celestial Net account for?"

"To fight in the arenas in the Celestial Net Space and earn money." Surtr blinked its dark golden eyes. "I eat too much. I want to lighten your burden a bit."

Chen Shang froze for a moment, then smiled. He took a spare Crystal Plate out of his Space Book, opened the Celestial Net registration interface, and helped Surtr fill in the information.

Race: Magma Giant. Age: Cub phase... Affiliation: Under Chen Shang of the Starfall Laboratory.

Once the registration was complete, he handed the Crystal Plate to Surtr.

"You have your account. In the Spiritual Space of the Celestial Net World, you’ll be able to find the arena district once you enter. Stay safe. Although you won’t die, it will deplete your Spiritual Power."

Surtr took the Crystal Plate, turned it over and over to inspect it, and then solemnly fastened it around its neck.

"Got it." It turned around, walked back to the Temperature-Controlled District, lay down, and closed its eyes, sinking its consciousness into the Celestial Net.

The Wizard Celestial Net, originally named the "Soul Celestial Net," was initially a research project led by a group of Soul System Great Wizards. The goal was to construct a pure Spiritual Space where Wizards could possess unlimited resources and conduct infinite experiments without being bound by the conditions of reality.

Later, this project slowly iterated and its functions became increasingly powerful. It enabled knowledge exchange and iteration, established a trading system, guided the Spiritual Wisdom evolution of Creation Species, and so on. Ultimately, it became one of the Concept Level Weapons of the Wizard World.

However, almost no Wizard was willing to use its original function—the Spiritual Space.

The reason was simple. No matter how miraculous the Soul Celestial Net was, it was impossible to replicate every single factor of reality within it. Unless that group of Soul Great Witches was omniscient and omnipotent, there would always be omissions.

And in Wizard experiments, a miss is as good as a mile. An extremely minuscule variable or a random factor not factored into the system’s calculations could cause the experimental results to deviate from reality.

Even a certain something known as "Destiny" could influence the experimental results... Although many Wizards were unwilling to admit it, Destiny truly existed objectively.

Running a hundred successful simulations in the Spiritual Space couldn’t compare to conducting one real experiment in reality. Therefore, Wizards did not use the Spiritual Space.

But the other races of the Pan-Wizard Alliance used it. To them, the Spiritual Space was a premier venue for socializing and entertainment.
