Chapter 585: Chapter 228: Hmph, Dream On

“Date: September 15, 1578, New Calendar. Location: Cordo Sea Region.”

“A faction known as the Dusk Sect has been discovered. They have established sites across the entire sea region to cause passing sailors to dream and harvest their murderous intent. Their purpose is…”

“On the path of pursuing knowledge, death is not the end. —Wei’en Loft, Shadow Intelligence Team, Cordo Sea Region.”

After he finished writing, Wei’en reviewed the contents. Once he was sure everything was correct, he placed the letter and a Pyramid into the blue and white box and teleported them away.

The reason he didn’t contact Director Amidich directly through the special communicator was simply that he didn’t want the perceptive Werewolf director to notice anything unusual about him.

Moreover, the letter not only documented the activities of the Dusk Sect but also provided detailed intelligence on the Twilight Secret Cultivators, Grave Diggers, Black Shadow Mages, and the so-called “Master of True Slaughter.”

To capture the attention of the Shadow, Wei’en deliberately revealed the existence of the Pyramids. This served two purposes: first, to confirm the existence of the Dusk Sect, and second, to let the Wizards of the Shadow get a taste of the benefits of Soul-Devouring Magic.

With his current base attributes, devouring a single Pyramid could grant him five points of Origin Power—let alone the Wizards and Great Mages within the School.

Wei’en was well aware that he couldn’t even cover the entirety of the vast Cordo Sea Region, let alone the seas beyond the four continents. It was simply impossible to collect all the Pyramids.

Therefore, passing the intelligence to the Shadow was currently the most effective way to thwart the Dusk Sect’s plans. He believed the Spirits within those Pyramids would be more than enough to get the old-timers in the School excited.

After finishing his letter to the Shadow, Wei’en began writing another one, this time to the Spiritual Mystery School.

In this letter, however, he only informed them about the Dusk Sect, placing special emphasis on their conspiratorial plans and the Black Shadow Mages who could use Element.

And that wasn’t all.

“In conclusion, I have reason to suspect that the Dusk Sect may very well be the mysterious entity secretly modifying the flaws in the Magic Runes. —Spiritual Secret, your closest Contractor, Faceless.”

That’s right!

To combat the Dusk Sect and sabotage their plans, Wei’en had deliberately directed suspicion for the Magic Rune flaws toward the “Master of True Slaughter” and the Dusk Sect!

He knew that for the Spiritual Mystery School, perfecting the Magic Runes was their absolute top priority. Anything related to that issue was guaranteed to touch a raw nerve.

‘First, I’ll make you feel some pain!’

Wei’en leaned back in his chair with a calm expression. Besides the two great Wizard Schools, the Dusk Sect had another enemy—the Eternal Life Association!

But since joining the Eternal Life Association, he had only met Elder Menor twice, and on both occasions, the contact was arranged through Clelia. He didn’t have a way to contact them himself, so he could only wait for them to reach out.

‘Clelia isn’t here… What about the matter on the Southern Continent…?’

Wei’en mulled it over for a few seconds before deciding to put it aside for now.

He didn’t know the details about the ruins inside the Southern Rift Valley. If Menor wanted him to take part in the mission, he would have to provide more intelligence.

After all, he wasn’t Clelia; he didn’t completely trust the Eternal Life Association or Menor.

As for the rest of the voyage, he had only two goals: sabotage the Dusk Sect’s plans in the sea region, and increase his strength by any means necessary.

BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ…

Just then, the black communicator on his workbench began to buzz, interrupting Wei’en’s thoughts.

“Honorable Wizard Wei’en Loft, designation…”

‘Teresa and her team?’

“Accept.”

“In a moment…”

Wei’en took a deep breath, forcing his expression to soften so he wouldn’t look so stern and cold.

‘Don’t get anxious, I can’t get anxious…’

‘I have to trust Clelia. She said she’d be alright.’

‘Besides, from what that ‘Master of True Slaughter,’ McCarthy, said before, it’s clear how much he values Clelia—there’s still time!’

With this in mind, Wei’en calmly stood before the special communicator, quietly waiting for the connection to go through.

The moment the connection went through, Teresa’s face appeared in the center of the holographic screen. Her bright eyes, framed by gold-rimmed glasses, were filled with excitement.

“Chief, we have a major discovery!”
