Chapter 491 - 203: A Miss Zombie Like That Must Be Top-Tier

Wei’en entered the workshop and muttered self-deprecatingly, "Is this her way of showing she still has some kind of expectation for me?"

But that was just an offhand remark. He currently had neither the time nor the energy to consider Pavla’s thoughts and feelings, let alone care about the moral compass of a fanatic like her. That would only drag him into an endless and meaningless cycle.

In fact, most believers of the True God Churches had their own beliefs and wouldn’t interfere with the actions of believers from other churches, unlike Pavla.

Only fanatics would stubbornly believe that everything written in the Holy Covenant Scripture was absolute truth, that everyone must be bound by its doctrines, and that anyone who violated the Covenant was either a heretic or a lost lamb. Beyond that, there was no third possibility.

For Wei’en, however, whether he had joined the Eternal Life Association or not, it didn’t change the fact that he stood in opposition to the Dawn Church.

With that thought, he sat back down at his workbench and continued to work on the preliminary plan for his research project.

’Body, Spirit, soul, origin... If these are the inherent substances that make up a person—hmm, let’s just call them "substances" for now—then what "substances" make up Undead Creatures?’

’Alright, this question should be the first step. I first need to figure out the fundamental nature of Undead Creatures!’

Having written this far, Wei’en paused his quill. After a few seconds of thought, he added a note: "Should first collect relevant research reports from the Ghost Soul School, as well as Era Relics. Perhaps these materials will contain the answer to what substances make up Undead Creatures."

’There should be!’

The Ghost Soul School had existed for at least two eras. With so many Wizards in the undead discipline, they must have thoroughly researched Undead Creatures by now.

Not to mention all the Wizards who had transformed themselves into the undead...

’So, step one is to collect all available materials, focusing mainly on Undead Creatures and their modification. Hmm, and I should add undead transformation...’

’Step two is to understand the fundamental nature of Undead Creatures and the research on their modification—at the very least, I need to figure out the general direction for modification and the pros and cons compared to the original body.’

’Note: Focus primarily on zombie-type creatures...’

’Step three: On this basis, gradually add mechanical modification components. This includes enhancement directions for both undead and mechanical modifications, modification plans, suitable metal materials—oh, almost forgot, I can also try adding a Rune Array during the process...’

An image of Shawa, post-modification, couldn’t help but surface in Wei’en’s mind after the project’s completion.

She would have a body indistinguishable from a normal zombie, with the mechanical modifications hidden beneath her shell, ready to be activated in certain situations.

If her combat power could rival that of a legendary-grade Extraordinary...

*Tsk tsk.* ’A Miss Zombie like that would certainly make a powerful impact!’

...

...

While Wei’en was gradually refining his research project plan, a brand-new castle had already risen in the depths of the Feng Enliso Mountain Range.

The hundred-meter-tall castle, occupying a full ten acres, was extravagantly built entirely from blocks of Gilded Jade. Each piece of Gilded Jade was meticulously polished, causing the entire castle to shimmer with a faint, silvery-white light.

The castle’s entrance was a pair of arched gates made from chromatic gold, with a mural inlaid upon them.

It depicted a figure with black, lightning-like wings, four pairs of black pupils on its face, and a strange eye pattern at the center of its brow. The figure stood atop a church bell tower, looking down on a scene of carnage below—it was, unmistakably, Wei’en’s appearance on that night in the Caster City State.

Passing through the gates and entering the castle’s main hall, one found the interior decorations were just as lavish.

On the Gilded Jade floor lay a single, massive carpet woven from expensive silk threads, emitting a faint, fresh fragrance. A crystal-clear chandelier hung down, illuminating a statue below that depicted Wei’en in a Wizard Robe.

In short, the entire castle, from inside to out, from top to bottom, reeked of Gold Pounds.

TAP, TAP...

A few people dressed in the black Wizard Robes of the Ghost Soul School, led by a Witch with short, coffee-colored hair, walked deeper into the castle. They surveyed the meticulous decorations everywhere, their hearts filled with disbelief.

Just then, one of them, a young Wizard with messy hair, exclaimed in amazement, "Senior Teresa, it’s only today that I’ve learned that saying so widely sung by the bards isn’t an exaggeration—it’s actually true!"

Teresa adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses and looked back. "Oh? And what saying is that, Wizard Escobar?"

The young Wizard named Escobar, seeing her turn, hastily used his robe to hide his mud- and blood-stained shoes. He replied in a low voice, "The one about your Silvira Clan’s wealth—that paean claiming it’s enough to buy all the land in the Northern Continent."

"Oh, that one,"

Teresa chuckled. "It couldn’t possibly be true if you think about it. Leaving other places aside, our Feng Enliso Research Institute alone can’t be measured in Gold Pounds."

"It can’t be measured in Gold Pounds, but you can use Gold Pounds to drive every Research Center head here mad..." a tall Witch with long brown hair next to them said with a pout.

Escobar stammered, "Junior Oshana, if it were me, I’d go mad too."

Although the Ghost Soul School placed great importance on the research projects of its various Research Centers and would allocate Gold Pounds to the best of its ability, many institutes still found themselves strapped for cash, especially for projects that burned through money.

This was why so many Undead Creatures appeared on the exchange list; they were summoned from the Undead World by Undead Wizards specifically for sale whenever they were short on Gold Pounds.
