Chapter 87: Chapter 87: Museum-Worthy Fools

"We’re in trouble now!"

Ferguson rubbed the bridge of his nose, feeling utterly powerless.

Ever since the members of the great families discovered the Secret Realm left behind by Angelson, they had been searching for news about the Divine Blood.

But too much time had passed, and they hadn’t paid much attention to Angelson’s legacy before.

In their view, everything belonging to Angelson had been taken by the three Red Sun Great Wizards, so how could anything else have been left behind!

It was precisely this lack of attention that led to many records and historical texts vanishing into the mists of time.

Finding clues about the Divine Blood was an incredibly difficult task.

The record stating that remnants of Angelson’s Divine Blood were in Secret Realm No. 1 was something they had only found by chance on an ancient Beast Hide Scroll.

And now that this lead had gone cold, it meant the members of the great families had to start searching for new clues to the Divine Blood all over again.

"So we’ll just have to look again!" Selena scratched her hair in frustration.

"The Divine Blood isn’t what we should be worrying about right now. Andre is the more troublesome problem."

Thinking of the pile of Earth Element Crystals in Andre’s possession, Jesse’s face showed a look of complete helplessness.

"Andre? What does this have to do with Andre?"

Quint didn’t quite understand why their great families’ search for the Divine Blood would be connected to Andre.

Rite sighed and proceeded to explain everything that had happened between them and Andre recently.

After hearing the story, Quint couldn’t help but sigh as well.

Quint was speechless at what Selena, Jesse, and Rite had done.

’Those guys are too reckless. If they had at least managed to prove that the Divine Blood was really in Andre, it would have been one thing.’

’Their great families could have joined forces to pressure Radak, who stands behind Andre, forcing Andre to yield. Then they could have spent a fortune to purchase the Divine Blood.’

’They could have even shared the Secret Realm with Radak and Andre.’

But now, they hadn’t gotten the Divine Blood they wanted from Andre.

This had only resulted in them making enemies of Radak and Andre’s faction.

As mentioned before, Radak controlled the Senbai World and several other worlds, as well as the Wizard Inheritance Hall in the Main Institute.

In other words, Radak and Andre’s faction belonged to the upper echelons of the White Sea Wizard Academy.

Although Andre and Radak’s faction had no say in most of the academy’s affairs...

...when it came to the matter of Wizard inheritance, something crucial to the academy’s survival, Radak and Andre’s faction held decisive authority.

This was why the great families feared Radak, beyond just his personal strength.

When it concerned Wizard inheritance, who would dare to offend them lightly?

No one could say for sure that their own family’s line of inheritance wouldn’t one day be severed.

And if such a serious accident—a break in the line of inheritance—were to occur, they could still rely on the relationship between their families and the academy to reacquire their family’s inheritance from the Wizard Inheritance Hall.

But how much they could get back would depend on the decision of Radak and Andre’s faction.

Yet now, Selena and the others had done something so monumentally stupid.

"You guys are really something else. Really something!"

Quint was so shocked by the idiotic moves of Selena, Jesse, and the others that he was at a loss for words.

’This was something that should have been handled slowly and deliberately. They should have built a good relationship with Andre and then quietly obtained his blood, hair, or other samples.’

’That way, the relationship between their families and Radak and Andre’s faction would not have been affected at all.’

’But no, they had a single theory and decided to relentlessly pursue Andre, even scheming to set a trap for him.’

’Is Andre an idiot? Would the man that Radak, the professor of Demon Pattern Study, took as his only disciple in this lifetime be an idiot?!’

"Couldn’t you guys have been less impatient?"

"Especially you, Selena! You had almost completely earned Andre’s trust!"

"In a little more time, you could have easily used other methods to get his hair or blood. At the very least, you could have collected skin fragments from his bed."

"But what did you do? You used my serious injury as an excuse to get him to return to Secret Realm No. 1. Even an idiot would know something was wrong!"

The more Quint thought about it, the angrier he got. Finally, he looked at Selena and the others and shouted.

"But you were afflicted by the aura in the Secret Realm right at that time, and you really were seriously injured, so we just..."

Ferguson scratched his head, looking at Quint.

"Come on, use your brains, would you? We’d only met Andre once before—that one encounter in Secret Realm No. 1. And based on that one meeting, you asked him to help me return to Secret Realm No. 1?"

"I can’t believe you had the nerve to even ask!"

"I bet that’s when Andre started getting suspicious about your motives for approaching him."

At this, Quint lowered his head, rubbed the bridge of his nose, and let out a deep sigh.

At that moment, in Quint’s eyes, the four of them were just four blocks of wood—no, four pieces of rotten wood.

’Before, when Selena, Ferguson and the others came up with their theory and started testing Andre, the plan was actually quite good.’

’Selena, being pushed forward as the representative to make contact with Andre, had been relatively successful.’

’Unfortunately, Selena’s actions caused the entire plan to fall apart at the last minute.’

’How should I put this?’

’A villain’s meticulous plan can’t compare to a fool’s sudden whim.’

’It’s over. It’s all over. From now on, whenever their families want to deal with Andre, he’s definitely going to be looking at them through colored glasses, analyzing their intentions with suspicion.’

"Do you have any idea? In another 50 years, Radak is going to the Main Institute to take over his teacher’s position, and Radak’s teacher will become the Vice-Dean of the Main Institute. When that happens, the one taking over Radak’s position will be Andre!"

Quint’s face was as black as the bottom of a pot; it looked like you could scrape a layer of soot off it.

"Figure out how to dispel Andre’s suspicions yourselves!"

Quint looked at the pieces of rotten wood before him, sighed helplessly, and turned to leave.

’Fortunately, his relationship with Andre wasn’t as terrible as Selena’s and the others’ was.’

’His relationship with Andre was still normal. He could slowly build on it in the future.’

After Quint left, Selena and the others glanced at each other, then all started scratching themselves in unison.

They could all see the helplessness on each other’s faces. They had all thought their plan would surely not be discovered by Radak.

Even if it were, they could use other excuses to fudge their way through.

They had even prepared an excuse: they were trying to recruit a talent like Andre ahead of time.

Given Andre’s Talent, he was indeed a genius among Wizards. They could have absolutely used the excuse of "recruiting a genius" to explain their actions toward him.

When it came to recruiting geniuses, some people used open and honorable methods, while others used more unsavory ones.

Their methods for recruiting Andre, while not exactly honorable, might at worst have drawn a warning from Radak.

But even if Radak did warn or punish them, he wouldn’t have been too harsh.

Even if Radak harbored other suspicions, he couldn’t have done anything to them without proof.

After all, what Wizard hadn’t been subjected to the schemes and plots of others? Their methods were dishonorable at worst, not even qualifying as dark.

Compared to the plots and schemes that occurred among Black Wizards, their methods didn’t even register on the scale.

What happened between them and Andre was, at most, little more than children playing house—the sort of thing every new blood of a Wizard experiences on their path to growth.

But what truly made the four of them feel helpless was the news that had come from Quint’s mouth.

In 50 years, Radak would be heading to the Main Institute to take over his teacher’s position.

Andre would be taking over Radak’s position.

This meant that unless they moved to another world, they would need Andre’s permission to look up any knowledge in the Wizard Hall.

Although it wouldn’t be difficult for the great families to transfer them to other worlds, the academy itself was full of various cliques.

And their several families formed one such clique, an alliance of shared interests.

If the family heads were to suddenly transfer their clansmen into the territory of another alliance, it would undoubtedly lead to ostracism.

At that point, their lives might not even be as good as they were in the Senbai Wizard World.
