Chapter 252: Chapter 254: I Am the Child of the World (2)

"It’s not all like this inside the Cosmic Sea World. We’re located near the battlefield from the great war that occurred during the world’s ascension. Other areas didn’t suffer nearly as much damage."

Angela looked at Andre, shook her head, and explained the current situation inside the Cosmic Sea World.

"Then why build the base here?"

Andre couldn’t understand. No matter how bad things were in the Cosmic Sea World, it had to be far better than the Multi-Body World.

He said this because the interior of the Cosmic Sea World was thousands of times larger than that of the Multi-Body World, perhaps even more.

Under these circumstances, Angela and the others could have easily chosen another location to establish a more comfortable Expedition Base.

Why go to the trouble of building the Expedition Base near the ruins of a great war?

’Aren’t they just asking for trouble?’

"You know about the situation inside the Cosmic Sea World, right?"

Angela asked Andre, her expression tinged with caution. Andre nodded.

"I know a little. Because of its world ascension, the Cosmic Sea World attracted foreign enemies."

"As a result, two of its native Magical Beasts, equivalent to Moonlight Great Mages, died in that great war, and many other Advanced-level combatants were lost as well."

Andre shared everything he knew.

"What you said is correct, but it’s outdated."

"Right now, the Cosmic Sea World has three powerhouses equivalent to the Morning Star Level."

"Additionally, there are over a hundred individuals at a level equivalent to Level 3 Wizards."

Angela sighed and looked at Andre, laying out the current state of the Cosmic Sea World.

"It’s that serious!" Andre blinked. He hadn’t realized the situation inside the Cosmic Sea World was this grim.

At this point, unless a Moonlight Great Mage descended upon the Cosmic Sea World, it would be incredibly difficult to change the internal balance of power.

But getting a Moonlight Great Mage to descend into the Cosmic Sea World was also extremely difficult.

This was because the Cosmic Sea World was in a recovery period. Its world consciousness was highly active and extremely sensitive to outside visitors.

It was one thing for Wizards of a lower Realm, like Andre and Angela.

But if Morning Star Level Wizards were to arrive inside the Cosmic Sea World...

...those Morning Star Wizards would face a relentless assault from the world consciousness—a battle to the death.

If even Morning Star Great Wizards faced such a predicament, to say nothing of Moonlight Great Mages.

Therefore, under these circumstances, to ensure they weren’t discovered by the native races of this world, Angela had no choice but to build the Expedition Base near the great battlefield to evade detection.

After all, few would willingly live in such an extreme environment.

"This is a Golden Age... a pity, alas."

Andre remarked to Angela after a moment of thought.

Angela nodded, agreeing completely with Andre’s thought.

Of course, the Wizards had no share in this Golden Age.

This so-called Golden Age was only for the native races of this world.

After a world’s ascension, as the Laws within it became more complete, its internal conditions would also change.

First, the concentration of Magic Power within the Cosmic Sea World would increase significantly.

Once the Magic Power concentration rose, all other aspects of the world would be affected as well.

The first to be affected were the various Magic Plants. Some would mutate, evolving into higher-tiered Magic Plants.

Others would develop toxins based on their environment to protect themselves from being devoured by Magical Beasts.

As the foundation of the food chain, once the Magic Plants changed, the Magical Beasts would also be affected. Due to the world’s ascension and the increased Magic Power concentration, the beasts would grow stronger and larger.

Some Magical Beasts might even have their Bloodlines ascend to a higher level.

And with the Magical Beasts changing, it wouldn’t be long before the other races of this world changed as well.

"How many major races are there in this world?"

Andre sighed, calming himself, and began to inquire about the world’s internal situation.

Angela nodded and led Andre into the interior of the Expedition Base.

The vast majority of the Expedition Base was located underground, constructed from several massive blocks of Obsidian.

Only the hangar for the Interstellar Battleship was situated on the periphery. This was to allow the ship to launch quickly and leave the Cosmic Sea World at a moment’s notice.

They were here to conquer the Cosmic Sea World, not to leave their lives behind in it.

After passing through a long underground tunnel, they arrived in the main part of the Expedition Base.

Here, Angela began to explain the internal situation of the Cosmic Sea World to Andre.

"Right now, there are a total of twelve sapient races within the Cosmic Sea World."

"And these twelve are the ones that survived the world’s ascension."

"Before the world’s ascension, there were twenty-seven."

"Twenty-seven... so you’re saying fifteen races were wiped out during the world’s ascension."

Andre couldn’t help but frown upon hearing these figures.

In the Wizard Civilization, the requirement for a race to be considered sapient was simple: it had to produce at least one powerhouse equivalent to a Level 3 Wizard.

If a race couldn’t even produce a single powerhouse equivalent to a Level 3 Wizard, then it was considered to have no future.

"That’s right. Fifteen sapient races that met the Wizard Civilization’s criteria perished in the process."

"As for the twelve that remain, the only reason they weren’t annihilated is that each of them had produced powerhouses at the Morning Star Level at some point."

"Those powerhouses sheltered their people, allowing their races to survive this calamity and opportunity."

"In that case, doesn’t that mean the three remaining powerhouses at the Morning Star Level are survivors of that war?"

Andre blinked, looking at Angela questioningly.

"None of them are. These three Morning Star powerhouses all reached that level *after* the world’s ascension."

"The previous twelve Morning Star powerhouses all died in that battle," Angela said, shaking her head at Andre.

"Fortunate ones..." Andre’s expression darkened when he heard this news.

Individuals who became Morning Star powerhouses after a world’s ascension were typically considered Children of the World; hence, they were also called the "fortunate ones."

"That’s more or less correct," Angela said to Andre with a nod. "But because of this world’s unique path, it’s very difficult for us to observe how its powerhouses rise."

"A unique path?" Andre suddenly recalled what Red-haired Klein had told him before.
