Chapter 238: Chapter 240: The Intractable Child of the World

"Those two Moonlight-level creatures were Magical Beasts born from this world. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have died so easily in that battle."

Red-haired Klein’s words left Andre speechless.

It was a long moment before the rigid look on Andre’s face finally softened.

"I see. So, when do we set out?"

Andre looked at the Otherworld displayed on the projection.

In an Otherworld like this, despite its many powerful inhabitants, the world itself had just been promoted.

As a result, many new treasures would have also been born.

"In half a month." Andre blinked, not quite understanding why they had to wait that long.

"You have half a month to familiarize yourself with the Bosha Giant Elephant. It needs to become a proper bodyguard to better protect you."

"Otherwise, you’ll suffer for it when you arrive in that world."

Red-haired Klein’s words made Andre’s heart tighten.

’Suffer for it? The strongest entities in that world right now should only be at the Morning Star Grand Wizard Level. What could possibly... as long as I don’t go out of my way to provoke anyone...’

Suddenly, a thought struck Andre, and he fell silent.

Seeing that Andre had already figured it out, Red-haired Klein simply nodded and said nothing more.

’A Child of the World... For a world that just advanced from Level 4 to Level 5, weakened internally and now facing an external invasion from the Wizard Civilization, it would be unheard of if it didn’t create a few Children of the World to stabilize the situation.’

Andre sighed internally. ’Children of the World and Planar Scions are beings nurtured by a world in crisis, specifically created to deal with external threats.’

This is why Children of the World and their ilk always stumble upon incredible opportunities, allowing their strength to skyrocket.

As a member of the Wizard Civilization invading this Otherworld, he was bound to draw the ire of the World Consciousness.

The Otherworld may have been ravaged by a fierce internal battle during its promotion, but if the world itself was willing to pay the price, it could forge several new powerhouses at the Moonlight Grand Wizard Level in a very short time.

’However, this is actually a perfect opportunity for me.’

Andre mulled over the matter.

’Others might not have a way to deal with a Child of the World.’

’But I’m different. I have a Destiny Flower.’

’The Destiny Flower can temporarily transfer another’s luck to me.’

’The duration fluctuates depending on the target’s strength.’

’But for me, as long as it’s an opponent of the same Realm, I can kill them—even a Child of the World.’

’In that case, with the help of the Destiny Flower, the Children of the World nurtured by this world could very well become another step on my Ladder of Truth!’

At this thought, some of the worry etched on Andre’s brow faded.

But to steal the luck of a Child of the World or a Planar Scion, he first had to find them.

But finding these individuals, secretly nurtured by the World Consciousness, was obviously not going to be an easy task.

Therefore, after entering this Otherworld, his first task would be to decipher the world’s hieroglyphs.

Deciphering hieroglyphs, compared to other writing systems, is one of the most difficult undertakings.

This kind of writing changes based on the writer’s personal habits. So, even if two characters have the same meaning, it’s difficult to recognize them as the same character based on appearance alone.

’One meaning, a hundred forms... Just my luck to run into such a thorny problem!’

Andre sighed internally.

Andre’s head was already starting to ache just thinking about the ordeal ahead. Unless he could trace the evolution of each character to unify them, that task alone would bog him down for ages.

The greatest difficulty in deciphering hieroglyphs lies in their variations. The earliest ones were derived from this world’s inhabitants observing their surroundings.

But with the world’s recent promotion, the characters have surely undergone new transformations.

This means the original hieroglyphs no longer match the current ones.

A hieroglyphic system used by an entire race would have at least 5,000 characters.

5,000 hieroglyphs!

At this thought, Andre couldn’t help but sigh.

"So, you understand the difficulty."

Watching the series of expressions cross Andre’s face, Red-haired Klein assumed he was getting a headache just thinking about deciphering the world’s script.

"How many characters have the First and Second Expedition Squads collected so far?"

Andre wanted to confirm the number of characters he’d have to decipher first.

Upon hearing Andre’s question, Red-haired Klein immediately held up two fingers.

"Two thousand!" Andre let out a sigh of relief as he looked at the two fingers Red-haired Klein was holding up. But a moment later, it felt like someone had smacked him over the head with a sledgehammer.

Red-haired Klein shook his head.

"It couldn’t be twenty thousand, could it?" Andre felt his breath catch in his throat as he said the number.

"You guessed it. Twenty thousand!"

"And that’s not even all of them."

Andre’s head suddenly began to ache.

Once he took on these twenty-thousand-plus hieroglyphs, his first step would be to categorize them by image. Then he’d have to decipher them one by one, organize the results, and compile them into volumes for the Expeditionary Corps.

"You’re not alone. Other Wizards who specialize in Demon Patterns are on this mission as well."

Seeing the reluctant look on Andre’s face, Red-haired Klein quickly tried to reassure him.

Andre rolled his eyes upon hearing this. ’What’s the difference between that and saying nothing at all? He just hoped those Wizards wouldn’t end up fighting amongst themselves over differing interpretations of the hieroglyphs.’

"Grandmaster, in all your expeditions, how common are worlds like this one?"

Andre let out a deep sigh.

Hearing this question, Red-haired Klein tilted his head in thought for a moment, then held up one finger.

"From the moment I became a Wizard, I’ve participated in hundreds of expeditions, large and small."

"But I’ve only encountered ten worlds that pass on their civilization through hieroglyphs."

"And of those, the one we’ve just encountered is the toughest to crack."

Andre actually staggered at Red-haired Klein’s words.

’The toughest to crack... A world that even my own Grandmaster considers the most difficult... If I want to solve this, it’s going to take a monumental effort. And I can’t even ask the System for help.’

Andre thought of his greatest aid, the System.

The System could burn Truth in exchange for information, but when it came to deciphering a language, it really couldn’t help much.
