Wizard: Grinding to Lord of Truth
Chapter 237 - 239: Andre’s Battlefield
Chapter 237: Chapter 239: Andre’s Battlefield
"Let’s put it this way. Even a pig would become a genius after digesting a single drop of the Power of World Origin."
"And that’s the most insignificant effect of the Power of World Origin."
"From what you know, a Path of Truth, once formed, cannot be altered. But in the face of the Power of World Origin, even a fully formed Path of Truth can be changed."
Red-haired Klein’s words startled Andre. He then took a deep breath to calm himself.
"So you’re saying someone coveted this world’s Power of World Origin, and that’s what led to the deaths of those two beings at the Moonlight Grand Wizard Level."
Red-haired Klein nodded.
"And it was precisely because of this battle that the world’s interior suffered immense damage."
"Although this world successfully advanced to a Level 5 World, it needs time to absorb and repair the internal damage caused by the fighting."
"And we just so happened to seize this window of opportunity."
"Right now, the problems we face in this world are its unique script and a power system we’ve never encountered before."
"We need someone to decipher these things!"
"And you, with your Eye of Truth and mastery of Demon Pattern Study, are one of the best candidates for deciphering them."
Red-haired Klein explained why Andre was being sent to this Level 5 World.
"A unique system, a unique civilization... Didn’t the previous Expeditionary Corps manage to decipher anything at all?"
Andre was skeptical. Since the Second Expeditionary Corps had arrived, Andre had received a lot of information.
For example, the composition of the various squads in the First Expeditionary Corps.
The personnel distribution in an Expedition Squad was very balanced.
Typically, a Level 2 Wizard would lead five Level 1 Wizards into each Otherworld.
They would enter an Otherworld, act as the vanguard, survey the world, investigate its civilizations, identify its powerful individuals, and gather information for the members of the Second Expeditionary Corps.
In an Expedition Squad configured this way, the Level 2 Wizard was responsible for dealing with enemies in the Otherworld.
The five Level 1 Wizards were divided according to their functions.
Among these five, there was usually one Alchemist or Caster in charge of logistics.
Of the remaining four Wizards, two were generally responsible for intelligence gathering.
Of the other two, one was responsible for constructing the Expedition Base and safe houses.
The last one acted as support, either ready to assist the Level 2 Wizard in backing up the reconnaissance Wizards or to help the logistics Wizard.
The Wizards in charge of reconnaissance usually had some understanding of Demon Patterns. ’And now they need *my* help?’
"A Level 4 World that successfully advanced to a Level 5 World has an extremely powerful internal civilization."
"It’s completely unrealistic to think you can easily decipher their civilization and heritage."
"This Expedition Squad has only been in this Otherworld for a few years."
"They haven’t even managed to collect all of this world’s written characters."
Red-haired Klein sighed at Andre and then continued to explain the situation in this world.
’They haven’t even collected all the characters in this world’s script? How is that possible?’
Andre’s face was filled with astonishment.
And you couldn’t blame Andre.
Except for some worlds that strictly controlled access to their script, most worlds weren’t overly meticulous about managing their writing.
’But now, Red-haired Klein is telling me that the First Expedition Squad couldn’t even manage to fully acquire this world’s script. How could that be?’
"Whether you believe it or not, that’s the truth."
"When the squad members of the Second Expeditionary Corps arrived in this Otherworld, they confirmed it. Just as the First Expedition Squad had reported, they had failed to collect the world’s complete script."
Red-haired Klein looked at Andre and shrugged.
"Is this world’s script restricted?"
Andre frowned. ’Even if this world’s script *is* restricted...’
’...with the Expedition Squad’s strength, they should still be able to collect the entire thing.’
’The Expedition Squad could easily use Witchcraft to visit some of this world’s smaller towns and record the script.’
’The First Expedition Squad couldn’t even handle something so simple?’
How could Andre believe what Red-haired Klein was saying?
"The reason the Expedition Squad didn’t collect the full script is because this world’s writing is extremely ancient."
’Extremely ancient...’
Hearing this, Andre understood why the Expedition Squad hadn’t collected the Otherworld’s complete script. The reason was that this world used pictographs.
It’s common knowledge that scripts develop flaws through use. To correct these flaws, they are constantly updated and iterated upon.
In the early stages of a civilization, an easier-to-use script makes it easier for the beings within that civilization to develop intelligence.
Only after more intelligent beings appear can a civilization continue to develop with the help of that intelligence.
But the civilization in this Level 5 World before him was actually using incredibly difficult-to-understand pictographs.
’Isn’t that like tying their own hands and feet?!’
The more ancient the script, the harder it is to understand. And the harder it is to understand, the harder it is to decipher and pass down.
A symbol you see that looks like the sun might not represent the sun in pictographs. It could represent the moon, or even a circle, or a log.
This is precisely the problem with pictographs.
Because pictographs are all drawn based on the appearance of objects.
If one is written incorrectly, the meaning of the inherited pictograph could end up miles away from its original meaning.
"Why didn’t this world’s civilization update their script?"
Andre ground his teeth, momentarily at a loss for words.
"They didn’t. This world’s civilization is very primitive. They hunt Magical Beasts and use certain methods to integrate the Magical Beasts’ Bloodlines into their own bodies, thereby replacing their own Bloodline."
"Afterward, they leverage this fusion to transform their own Bloodline into that of a new Magical Beast."
As Red-haired Klein spoke about the situation within this world, his face was also full of worry. It had been many years since he had encountered a world like this.
’Why does that sound so familiar?’ As Red-haired Klein spoke, an indescribable look flashed across Andre’s face.
"Grandmaster, that’s not right. If this world produced experts on par with the Moonlight Grand Wizard Level, then how did those two experts emerge? Where would they have found the Bloodline of a Moonlight-level Magical Beast?"
Andre had noticed a problem.
