Wizard: Grinding to Lord of Truth
Chapter 109: Radak’s Past
Chapter 109: Chapter 109: Radak’s Past
Krell stood before Farrete, continuously rubbing his temples. He shot Farrete a glare in response to his words.
"The successor to a faction, to an organization—they can be evil, they can be greedy, they can be ruthless, they can even be kind. But the one thing they cannot be is stupid!"
"From ancient times to the present day, how many Wizard organizations have been brought down by stupidity?"
At that moment, Krell looked exceptionally weary.
"It seems it’s time to choose a new successor."
Krell rubbed the space between his brows, considering who else within the family was worth cultivating.
"Master, just because of this one incident?"
Farrete stared at Krell, his expression dazed. It was the first time he had ever seen Krell look so exhausted.
"What else did you expect? Am I supposed to wait for her to do something else stupid? When that happens, I won’t have a second Beastman Tribe to give away as compensation."
"Master, that Beastman Tribe... were you planning to give it to Selena?"
Farrete’s eyes widened as he stared at Krell in disbelief.
"Yes. The expedition is about to begin. I had originally planned to have Andre and Selena form an Expeditionary Corps, but now, I’ll have to choose someone else."
Krell nodded, his face filled with regret.
"Master, was it really that serious? You gave away an entire Beastman Tribe just because of Selena?"
Farrete frowned deeply, not understanding this at all.
’The issue between Selena and Andre was their own business. Krell shouldn’t have had to get involved at all, let alone pay compensation to Andre on Selena’s behalf.’
"Did you not hear what I just told Selena? Radak took his complaint to my master."
"I suspect that if Radak’s own master wasn’t on the verge of a breakthrough and couldn’t be disturbed, he would have taken this complaint straight to him."
"A Moonlight Great Mage who is about to become a Red Sun Great Wizard."
"At a time like this, if word got out that his disciple was being bullied, how many people looking to curry favor with a powerful figure would try to attack our family just to please Radak’s master?"
"You know, Radak and I entered the Main Institute around the same time."
"At the Main Institute, I personally saw Radak stir up plenty of trouble. But in the end? Not only did he come out of it all just fine, he’s now about to take over his master’s position. And why do you think that is?"
At this, Krell sighed helplessly.
"Radak is the kind of person who argues he’s right even when he’s completely in the wrong. And now, he actually has a valid point."
"The successors of several Morning Star Clans treated his disciple like a thief, and then used a thief’s methods to steal his disciple’s belongings."
"He may not know what the item was, but what kind of trouble do you think Radak will stir up over this incident?"
The mention of Radak brought an even more helpless expression to Krell’s face.
Everyone knew him to be strict and unconcerned with sentiment.
But who among them knew what a bastard Radak used to be?
"Master, Professor Radak is really..."
Farrete didn’t finish his sentence, but his intended meaning was obvious.
"If his master hadn’t used Witchcraft to restrain him, he would have raised all hell by now."
Thinking of the Radak of the past, a flicker of helplessness crossed Krell’s eyes.
If he himself was a genius, then Radak was an even greater one—and the troublemaking kind, at that.
But even when he got into trouble, Radak had the means to clean up his own messes. A guy like that is terrifying.
"We both entered the Main Institute as High Level Wizard Apprentices. The moment he arrived, his master took him in as a disciple."
"I, on the other hand, had to pass trial after trial before my master accepted me."
"After that, our lives at the institute went in completely different directions."
"While I was flipping through books in my master’s library and study, Radak was already preparing to become an Official Wizard."
"By the time I became an Official Wizard, Radak had already led his friends to conquer a small Secret Realm belonging to a rival faction."
"After that, he caught the attention of the institute’s leadership. They began entrusting him with important responsibilities, and he was constantly out in the world, carrying out missions."
"Radak lived up to the leadership’s expectations, completing every mission they gave him. In the process, he even became a Level 3 Wizard."
"Master, Professor Radak was already a Level 3 Wizard back then?"
Farrete’s eyes were wide as he listened to Krell’s account of Radak.
"Yes. Later, during the 2,943rd Abyss War, he destroyed an entire Abyss Plane. In the process, his body was corrupted by the Abyss’s aura, and he was nearly lost forever in the Bottomless Abyss."
"Fortunately, the shockwave from the explosion threw him into the Endless Star Realm, where his master was able to rescue him. But he had no choice but to start over from scratch."
"Normally, the resources required for a Level 3 Wizard corrupted by the Abyss to start over are astronomical. Few factions would be willing to pay that price."
"But Radak’s contribution to the Abyss War was simply too great—he destroyed an Abyss Plane single-handedly."
"For the sake of propaganda, and to commemorate his achievement, the allied command paid all the expenses for him to start anew."
"This time, Radak chose an even more difficult path than before. But after he became an Official Wizard again, he discovered that the influence of the Abyss’s aura was still there."
"The effect was weaker than before, but it would cause him to lose control during moments of intense emotion."
"So, his master placed a form of Witchcraft on him and dispatched him here, to the Senbai Wizard World, to oversee the Wizard Inheritance Hall."
"Now, he’s about to take over his master’s position. This means he has finally eliminated the influence of the Abyss’s aura and is on the verge of becoming a Morning Star."
"Once he becomes a Morning Star, he will likely leap to the very peak of their ranks."
At this point, a nostalgic look flickered in Krell’s eyes.
Back in the Main Institute, Radak had been brimming with spirit and ambition, the center of everyone’s attention—the most brilliant young power in the entire institute.
But the Radak of today looked decrepit, as if he could pass away at any moment.
But for a Wizard, lifespan wasn’t actually all that important.
As their Level increased and they delved deeper into the Truth, a Wizard’s body would gradually transform into a being of pure Energy.
Once that happened, the limitations of lifespan became far less significant for a Wizard.
Hearing this, Farrete helplessly shut his mouth.
