Wizard: Grinding from Knight to Primogenitor
Chapter 139 - 119: The Rejected Deal
Chapter 139: Chapter 119: The Rejected Deal
A rescue?
Roy looked at Margery, his face a mask of surprise.
He didn’t waste time or brain cells guessing and simply asked, "Rescue who?"
"My mother and my younger brother!"
"If you can get them out and escort us safely to the Sal Empire, I’ll give you not just the Defense Type Exemplary Breathing Technique Inheritance Map, but all the other Inheritance Maps I have!"
Roy was already surprised that Margery wanted him to perform a rescue.
Hearing that the people she wanted to save were her mother and brother surprised him even more.
"Explain exactly what’s happening."
Roy pressed for an explanation.
Without any hesitation, Margery began to explain the whole story from the beginning.
The story began on the day the four Dukes joined forces to attack the Royal Capital.
Before the Royal Palace in the center of the Inner City was breached, William II had arranged for Margery and the others to take the treasures from the Royal Palace’s treasury and escape through different secret passages.
As for William II himself, he planned to be the last to retreat.
William II made this decision partly because his pride would not allow him to flee in disgrace without putting up a fight.
And partly because by staying in the Royal Palace, he could better command the guards to resist the four Dukes’ assault, preventing the morale of the palace guard from plummeting.
The plan was good, but reality was cruel.
William II had only intended to hold out in the Royal Palace for a while before leaving.
However, the four Dukes gave him no chance to leave the Royal Palace alive.
Although William II died, some members of the Royal Family, including the Fifth Princess, Margery, managed to escape the Royal Capital through the secret passages.
What happened next was simple.
First, they fled the Morning Star Plain, then they found the Eldest Prince.
To avoid a situation where all the Royal Family members could be captured in one fell swoop, the Eldest Prince didn’t keep the Fifth Princess, Margery, and the others by his side. Instead, he split them into several groups and hid them in different regions of the Laine Kingdom.
Furthermore, to prevent his younger siblings from competing with him for power, the Eldest Prince made a decision that was very much in the Royal Family’s style.
He placed the loved ones of the princes and princesses who could potentially challenge his authority under house arrest, using them as leverage to force his siblings to obey his commands.
For example, the Fifth Princess Margery’s mother and younger brother.
From the Eldest Prince’s perspective, not killing Margery and the others outright was already quite merciful.
But for Margery and the others, this was anything but a good thing.
First of all, they had no intention of competing with the Eldest Prince for power to begin with.
Even if they did, now was not the time for infighting.
The four Dukes were still alive, and they had yet to reclaim the Royal Capital and the Morning Star Plain.
Anyone with half a brain wouldn’t choose to engage in infighting at a time like this.
Although Margery was furious with the Eldest Prince’s methods, she could only choose to obey his arrangements to protect her mother and brother.
She had originally resigned herself to her fate.
However, Roy’s... or more accurately, the Dark Night Knight’s arrival, rekindled her hope of rescuing her mother and brother.
Her mother and brother were currently being held under house arrest inside Iron Armor Turtle Castle.
She was here because the Eldest Prince hadn’t given her any other tasks, so she just happened to be visiting them.
Right now, she was only a Peak Knight, and she didn’t have a single subordinate.
On her own, it was impossible for her to rescue her mother and brother from their house arrest in Iron Armor Turtle Castle.
But what she couldn’t do, the Dark Night Knight could do with ease.
After hearing Margery’s story, Roy immediately asked, "How many Inheritance Maps do you have in total, and what are their Levels and types?"
Without any hesitation, Margery quickly replied, "When I escaped the Royal Palace, I brought a total of 22 Exemplary and Perfect Level Inheritance Maps with me."
"Of those, 14 are Bloodline Breathing Technique Inheritance Maps, and the other 8 are Universal Breathing Technique Inheritance Maps."
"The Eldest Prince took all the Universal Breathing Technique Inheritance Maps."
"The Bloodline Breathing Technique Inheritance Maps, however, remain in my possession."
"The Thunder Beast and Golden Deer Breathing Technique Inheritance Maps I gave to Roy Wesley last time were also from the ones I brought out of the Royal Palace."
"I brought the remaining 12 Inheritance Maps with me to Iron Armor Turtle Castle."
’The Royal Family, indeed!’
’They have so many treasured Breathing Technique Inheritance Maps!’
Roy marveled inwardly, then slowly said, "Deal. I’ll rescue your mother and brother and personally escort you all to the border of the Sal Empire."
Although this was different from his original plan, he didn’t mind at all.
As the old saying goes, plans can’t keep up with reality.
Besides, rescuing Margery’s mother and brother and escorting the three of them to the Sal Empire weren’t difficult tasks.
After leaving the Iron Armor Turtle Domain, they only needed to cross Wodun Province to reach the Sal Empire.
Even if Margery’s mother was a woman with no strength to even truss a chicken, as long as they arranged a warhorse or a carriage for her, they could reach the Sal Empire’s border in about seven days.
If they traveled at the pace of a forced march, the time could be cut down to four days.
"Then I’m counting on you!"
After speaking, Margery gave Roy a solemn bow.
Roy said nothing more. He directly circulated the Fighting Qi in his body, causing Silver-White Fighting Qi to surge from his right hand.
The next second, the extravagantly-shaped Fighting Qi·Destruction Sword appeared in his hand.
After forming the Fighting Qi·Destruction Sword, he didn’t hesitate for a moment, immediately turning and walking toward the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis and his men.
Because of the distance, the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis and his men hadn’t heard Roy and Margery’s conversation.
However, the moment they saw Margery bow to Roy, they had a bad feeling.
And when Margery finished her bow and Roy formed his signature Fighting Qi·Destruction Sword, their suspicions were confirmed.
As Roy walked toward the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis and the others with his Fighting Qi·Destruction Sword in hand, Margery followed immediately without a word.
Soon, they arrived in front of the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis and his men.
Roy wasted no time, stating bluntly, "Margery has hired me to rescue her mother and brother. If you don’t want to die, get out of my way!"
As he spoke, he discreetly released a bit of his Dragon Mighty, causing the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis and his men to feel a terrifying pressure they had never experienced before.
Although he didn’t release his Dragon Mighty at full power, it was more than enough to intimidate the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis and his men, whose strength was far inferior to his own.
Aside from the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis and a few Great Knights, the bodies of the others trembled visibly with fear.
Even Margery, standing beside Roy on the same side, felt an irrepressible, instinctual fear rise within her.
The Iron Armor Turtle Marquis knew he was no match for the Dark Night Knight.
But he still displayed a frustrating stubbornness and rigidity.
Suppressing the fear in his heart, the Bronze Great Knight circulated his Fighting Qi, releasing his dark brown Iron Armor Turtle Fighting Qi.
He then materialized it into a suit of Fighting Qi Armor and a Fighting Qi Spear.
Seeing the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis’s action, Roy sighed.
The next second, he appeared before the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis as if he had teleported, and his Fighting Qi·Destruction Sword swung out like lightning.
The Iron Armor Turtle Marquis didn’t just wait for death; he immediately raised his Fighting Qi Spear to block.
BANG!
The Fighting Qi Spear, no less sturdy than a Fine Steel Lance, shattered the instant it made contact with the Fighting Qi·Destruction Sword, breaking into countless fragments that scattered in all directions like raindrops.
At the same time, the Fighting Qi·Destruction Sword easily sliced through the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis’s body.
Neither the outermost Fighting Qi Armor nor the black plate armor underneath could block the attack of the Fighting Qi·Destruction Sword.
If Roy had wanted to, he could have easily split the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis in two, as easily as snapping a twig the thickness of a finger, and sent the loyal-to-the-Royal-Family Marquis to meet William II.
But he didn’t do that.
He controlled the force and depth of the slash perfectly, not taking the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis’s life directly, but merely leaving a conspicuous gash across his chest from his left shoulder to the right side of his abdomen.
The shockwave from the collapse of his Fighting Qi Spear and Fighting Qi Armor, combined with the inertia from the slash, sent the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis flying backward uncontrollably, and he crashed heavily onto the plaza just inside the castle gate.
"I won’t repeat myself!"
"If you want to die, then I’ll be happy to oblige!"
Roy didn’t pursue the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis. He gave the massive Fighting Qi·Destruction Sword a casual flourish and spoke coldly.
