Chapter 138 - 119: The Rejected Deal

Chapter 138: Chapter 119: The Rejected Deal

The person who surprised Roy was none other than Margery, the Fifth Princess, also known as the Rose Knight, whom he had met twice before.

He knew that the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis was fully assisting the Eldest Prince in taking control of Noson Province, allowing the Eldest Prince to have a reliable foothold in the Northern Territory.

But he hadn’t expected Margery to be at Iron Armor Turtle Castle right now.

More importantly, only Margery was present. The Eldest Prince was not here.

The white mask on his face effectively concealed Roy’s surprised expression, preventing the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis and Margery from noticing.

As he watched, the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis, clad in black armor with a stern expression, came before him and asked in a serious tone, "What business do you have with me?"

The Iron Armor Turtle Marquis did not put on so-called aristocratic airs in front of Roy. Instead, he treated him as an equal.

Whether it was a title or noble status, neither was as important as one’s own immense strength.

Hearing the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis’s words, Roy didn’t hesitate. Using Fighting Qi to alter his voice, he said unhurriedly, "My student, Roy Wesley, has recently taken a liking to collecting Breathing Technique Inheritance Maps. He has already collected quite a few and now particularly wants a Defense Type Exemplary Breathing Technique Inheritance Map."

"If you, Lord Marquis, possess more than one Iron Armor Turtle Breathing Technique Inheritance Map, I would like to trade for one on behalf of my wayward student."

"As for payment, it will be the life of the Blood Bat Marquis."

What?

After hearing what Roy said, everyone—the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis, the Fifth Princess Margery, and all the others present—wore expressions of shock.

Although the Dark Night Knight’s reputation for being protective of his own and generous was well-known, they never expected he would go so far as to offer the Blood Bat Marquis’s life in trade for an Iron Armor Turtle Breathing Technique Inheritance Map, all to satisfy his student’s collecting hobby.

’That Roy Wesley sure is lucky to have a teacher like this!’

’Why couldn’t I have met a teacher like that?’

’With the Dark Night Knight caring so much for Roy Wesley, could the rumors be true? That as long as he doesn’t die, his future is guaranteed to be at least that of a Silver Great Knight?’

...

All sorts of speculations flashed through the minds of the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis, the Fifth Princess Margery, and those around them.

From a transactional standpoint, the terms Roy offered were more than generous.

An Inheritance Map for an Excellent Level Bloodline Breathing Technique in exchange for the life of the Blood Bat Marquis!

For the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis’s side, this deal was an absolute steal.

The Fifth Princess Margery and the others immediately looked to the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis, waiting for him to say that one word: "Deal."

However, the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis’s actions proved just what a stubborn and old-fashioned man he was.

Under everyone’s gaze, the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis looked at Roy with a calm expression and said swiftly, "I do want the Blood Bat Marquis dead, but a Breathing Technique Inheritance Map is the most precious gift from our ancestors to the younger generations of our family!"

"It is true that I have more than one Iron Armor Turtle Breathing Technique Inheritance Map in my possession. Even so, I will not trade an Inheritance Map that my ancestors risked their lives to obtain just to satisfy my own desires."

"However many Inheritance Maps I received when I became Clan Leader is the exact number I will hand over to the new Clan Leader when I step down, not one less."

"If you have no other business, you may leave."

Roy knew the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis was a stubborn and inflexible man, but he hadn’t imagined he would be stubborn to this degree.

’I was even willing to take a small loss and trade the Blood Bat Marquis’s life for the Inheritance Map, yet you’re the one turning it down.’

He wasn’t the only one who hadn’t expected the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis to refuse; the Fifth Princess Margery and the others were just as surprised.

To be honest, after hearing the Iron Armor Turtle Marquis’s reply, Roy’s first thought was to just kill him and take the map by force.

But he quickly cast that thought aside.

It was just one Exemplary Breathing Technique Inheritance Map; it wasn’t enough to make him abandon his principles.

Although his principles were sometimes flexible depending on the situation, they weren’t flexible enough to be bent for a single Exemplary Breathing Technique Inheritance Map.

"Since you are unwilling, Lord Marquis, I won’t insist."

With that said, Roy prepared to turn and leave.

Just then, the Fifth Princess Margery’s voice rang out.

"I also have a Defense Type Exemplary Breathing Technique Inheritance Map. I can trade with you!"

’This girl’s voice is quite pleasant!’

Roy mused to himself.

Although he had seen her twice before, Margery hadn’t spoken during either of those meetings, merely sitting beside the Eldest Prince like a porcelain doll.

"Who do you want me to kill?"

Roy asked directly.

He didn’t know which Breathing Technique Inheritance Map Margery possessed, but that didn’t matter.

For him, as long as it was a Defense Type Exemplary Breathing Technique, it was enough.

As for the rest—like what the Breathing Technique was called or where it came from—none of it was important.

"Can we go somewhere more private to talk?"

Margery came up to Roy and said quickly.

"We can."

Roy replied.

With that, he turned and walked toward a grassy area to his right.

Without any hesitation, Margery immediately followed.

After they were more than a hundred meters from the castle gate, Roy turned to glance at Margery and asked, "Alright, out with it. Who do you want me to kill?"

"I don’t need you to kill anyone. I need you to save someone."

Margery replied.
