After taming the Baku, Lin Fan started to look at its status.
He wanted to see exactly what this Baku was capable of and he was surprised to find that it was different from all of the other spirit beasts that he had tamed before.
The biggest difference was that there were two lines for its level of cultivation.
One was a line that followed the cultivation that was used on the cultivation continent.
Then there was another line that differed from the cultivation that was used on the cultivation continent.
This was a line that was like the ones that he saw from Hayase’s status.
It was a level and an experience bar.
It meant that this Baku was able to level up by defeating enemies and then getting experience points from them.
But the strange thing that Lin Fan noticed was that even now, the experience bar seemed to be increasing.
It was as if even by doing nothing, the Baku was able to gain experience points.
Lin Fan was very confused how the Baku was able to do such a thing until he saw the skills that it had. There was one skill in particular that Lin Fan paid attention to since it was the one that was giving these experience points to the Baku.
It was this skill that had also caused the Mist Guards to wander around in a daze before.
This was the Dream Eater ability.
This ability allowed the Baku to eat the dreams of the ones that it put into illusions.
As it swallowed their dreams, it also took the energy that created in those dreams for itself.
But of course, it was impossible for a creature to live forever to create energy for the Baku. Or at least that was how it would have been if the Baku was a normal creature.
The Baku had a second skill that allowed it to keep its prey captive forever so it could drain energy from them continuously.
This was the Dream Realm ability.
It was what created the mist that filled the Weeping Mist Forest.
Though the mist that was outside of the Valley of Mist was weaker than the mist that came from the source. It was better to say that the mist that was outside of the Valley of Mist was nothing more than the residue of the Baku’s mist.
It was to protect the Baku’s main habitat which was the Valley of Mist.
That meant that if Lin Fan were to take the Baku away now that he had tamed it, all of the mist that surrounded this place would disappear…
But before that, he cared more about how powerful the Dream Realm ability was.
It put people into an illusion that was like a dream, one where they would be trapped in a realm inside of their mind. But the amazing part wasn’t the fact that this Dream Realm was able to trap people.
The amazing part was that the Dream Realm was able to put people in a state of suspended animation.
It was similar to cryogenics like in Lin Fan’s past life, but this was something that actually worked perfectly unlike how cryogenics were just an experimental field of science.
The Dream Realm completely froze people in time, only allowing them to wander around and gather energy naturally while being stuck in a dream.
A part of that energy was used to keep them alive and the other part was absorbed by the Baku.
It was better to say that the Baku was a kind of parasitic spirit beast that was able to take energy from those that it trapped in its Dream Realm.
Though that didn’t mean that it had to take energy from humans.
There had also been spirit beasts wandering around in a daze in the Valley of Mist that Lin Fan saw earlier. Those spirit beasts were also trapped in the Dream Realm and provided the same energy to the Baku like the Mist Guards.
This was the kind of ability that was perfect for creating a protective space, but once the Baku met someone that was stronger than it that could resist its mist…
Just like how Lin Fan was able to resist the mist and use his Clear Water barrier to trap it.
So it couldn’t be said that the Baku’s ability were all powerful.
It still had its weaknesses.
But as far as Lin Fan was concerned, this was a very powerful ability that he could think of many uses for. So he was quite glad that he had been able to tame the Baku.
The only problem was what to do about this Weeping Mist City and Weeping Mist Forest once he took the Baku away.
That was until he remembered something else.
Lin Fan looked around this area before asking the Baku, “Is there a special herb in this area?”
The Baku looked a bit confused at first, but then it looked like it thought of something as it suddenly turned in a different direction and started running off. But when it saw that Lin Fan wasn’t following it, it turned around and waved one of its paws as if calling for him.
Lin Fan looked at Hayase, but Hayase just started following the Baku.
So he followed the Baku as well.
After walking through the mist for a bit, they arrived at what seemed to be a hollow.
This was most likely the next of the Baku.
But what caught Lin Fan’s attention wasn’t the nest itself.
Rather, it was a large fruit that seemed to be growing in the center of this nest.
This was a strange gray coloured fruit, but Lin Fan could tell what kind of fruit this was. At the same time, he could tell that this gray coloured fruit was the thing that he had come looking for.
This gray coloured fruit seemed to be absorbing the power of the mist around it and was also releasing mist to a certain extent.
Though he had a clue, Lin Fan still had Hayase ask the Baku what this was.
The Baku just said that it didn’t know, it just knew that this fruit started growing when it lived here and created this nest. It didn’t know how this fruit came to be, but it had been there for as long as it could remember.
The only thing that Lin Fan could do was use his Appraisal Eyes since the Baku didn’t know what this was.
Mist Gathering Fruit
A fruit that is filled with the powers of illusory mist. It creates illusory mist to protect itself and is filled with the power of illusion.
As expected, this was a fruit that had mutated because of the mist that the Baku released.
It had grown into a special kind of fruit that would give people the power to use the illusory mist.
Only, Lin Fan didn’t need it since he had already tamed the Baku.
The power of the illusory mist came from the Baku in the first place, so Lin Fan was actually able to use it because of his Sharing is Caring skill. That meant that even if he were to absorb the power of this Mist Gathering Fruit, it would just be useless.
Since there was no need for him to take this Mist Gathering Fruit, Lin Fan thought about different ways of using it.
He turned back to the Baku and asked, “How much of your mist can you release?”
The Baku was surprised to hear this and didn’t know how to respond at first.
But then after thinking about it, it said through Hayase, “It says that the mist that it produces is limited to how much spiritual energy it has. Once it runs out, it won’t be able to create more.”
“The mist won’t disappear once you create it?” Lin Fan asked.
The Baku thought about it for a bit before saying, “I need to refill it once in a while, but it won’t disappear that easily.”
Lin Fan gave a simple nod before turning his attention back to the Mist Gathering Fruit.
Since it was a Mist Gathering Fruit, then it should have the ability to store the mist as well.
He didn’t want to take away the Baku and take away the livelihood of the people of Weeping Mist City. Especially after they had shown their loyalty and worship of the Mu Royal Family.
In the future, these people would be useful to Mu Bao Bao.
So Lin Fan wanted to at least keep the status quo here.
With a wave of his hand, there was a ball of Clear Water that appeared. Then with another wave of his hand, that Clear Water suddenly took the form of an array that surrounded the Mist Gathering Fruit.

With the array, he was able to make it so that it would release at a certain interval.
Then he also created a ball of Clear Water that acted as the core of the array.
All that was left was to inject it with mist to release over a period of time.
So he turned to the Baku and said, “Come over and help me.”
