Lin Fan slowly gave a nod before saying, “I’m an envoy sent here to investigate the Weeping Mist Forest, particularly this Valley of Mist. Can you tell me who you are?”
The Mist Guard didn’t respond at first as he just stared at Lin Fan as if he was figuring out whether he should trust him or not. But in the end, he said, “I’m the leader of the Mist Guards, we were sent here for a special mission.”
“Leader?” Lin Fan asked in a confused voice.
The Mist Guard just gave a simple nod before saying, “That’s right, I’m the leader of the Mist Guards. Though I assume that someone has taken that position temporarily since I’ve been trapped here for a bit.”
After a pause, he added, “Sir envoy, please allow me to come with you. I’m sure that I’ll be able to help you with my strength.”
Though he made this request, Lin Fan just looked at him with a strange look.
After all, as far as he knew, there was only one mission that had been sent into the Valley of Mist and there were only a few people that had survived.

The former leader of the Mist Guards looked down at his own hands before looking at the rest of his body as if he was trying to figure out what was different about him.
He just looked at himself with this strange look for a while before finally looking up to ask, “How am I still alive?”
