With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods
Chapter 1611: Keeping watch
Without the trail leading them, they were at a bit of a loss as to where to go next.
"Let’s keep going forward?"
That was the suggestion that Lin Fan gave in the end and the other two accepted it.
It wasn’t as if this was a good suggestion, but it was the only thing that they could do right now.
With the way that the trail guided them here, it seemed like the Heavenly Demon’s group had come here for a reason. It was just that they had been stopped by the trap that they had suddenly fallen into.
If there was something that had led them here, then it should mean that there was something worth seeing in front of them.
If there was something that was worth seeing, then it might be what they were looking for.
Which was why they chose to continue down the same path to see what it was that was hidden here.
Though it was more that they were treating this as treating a dead horse. It wasn’t as if there were any other options that were available to them at this point, so they just had to go through with it.
Eventually, they reached the main hall of this main hall.
There was even a throne that was placed at the center of this hall and it seemed like this place was used for gatherings quite often.
This was most likely the place that the sect master used to meet with the elders of the Dao Sect to decide the important matters of the sect. This was a place that most people that had been in the Dao Sect had never been able to reach in the past.
But even if they had reached this place, it wasn’t as if there was anything that they could do here.
Though Lin Fan was holding the token out, it was as if the token had suddenly lost all signs of life the moment that they stepped into this room. Almost as if there was something that was in this room that was suppressing it.
Without even needing to think about it, Lin Fan already had a guess as to what it was that was suppressing his token.
This was the place that represented the authority of the Dao Sect’s sect master. It was a place that represented the authority to take control of the Dao Sect ruins.
Since he still hadn’t gathered all of the authority from the different pavilions of the Dao Sect, it was only natural that his token would be suppressed in this place. Unless he gathered all of the authority that he was supposed to gather, he wouldn’t be able to do anything in this place.
However, that wasn’t the reason why Lin Fan had suddenly knitted his brows.
"That strange feeling is getting stronger."
Since coming to this place, Lin Fan had felt that there was something strange about this entire main hall. It was something that he couldn’t put his finger on, but he could tell that there was something here that seemed to be off.
It made Lin Fan not want to remain in this place any longer than he had to.
Only there was also a part of him that felt like he shouldn’t leave right away.
It was the words that Old Duan had said before they had come to this place.
That warning about not knowing too much, it had a strange feeling to it in this situation.
So in the end, Lin Fan still looked around this main hall for a while as if he was putting on a show.
That was until he realized something.
The moment that he realized this, it was almost as if everything clicked for him.
Only the moment that it seemed to click inside of his head, he could feel a bit of pressure falling onto him. It wasn’t strong enough that it actually harmed him, but this certainly wasn’t a good feeling either.
However, this also helped him confirm what he was thinking.
Now more than ever, he was certain that this place had a special function.
It was just that Lin Fan was even more confused than before why Old Duan would send him to this place. It didn’t seem to make any sense at all since there was nothing to gain from this place without the proper authority to gain these things.
In the end, this seemed like it was nothing more than a wasted trip.
"Is it because he saw the way that Ye Qing Huan reacted?"
That was the only reason that Lin Fan might be able to come up with for why Old Duan directed them to this place.
Other than this, Lin Fan tossed out all thoughts about what he had confirmed.
"Old Duan was right when he said that we should know as little as possible about this place. The more we know, the more dangerous that this place actually becomes."
After tossing these thoughts out, there was still one thing that Lin Fan couldn’t help being attracted to. He couldn’t help wanting to take a closer look at the throne that was at the center of the room.
It was this throne that raised his suspicion the most about this place.
It was this throne that really felt like it was out of place when it came to this main hall.
Since they were sharing the power of the token, it was only normal that Ye Qing Huan and Xiao Mu followed him over as well. Only it didn’t seem like they understood what he was doing at first.
After a while that changed as they started having an idea of what he was doing.
It was just that even if they realized this, there wasn’t much that they could actually do about this.
Not to mention that before they could bring trouble to themselves, Lin Fan gave them signs for them to forget about everything that they were thinking.
With the trust that was between them, there was no hesitation from either Ye Qing Huan or Xiao Mu as they immediately calmed their mind. Though Lin Fan could feel a small squeeze coming from them as if they were curious about what this thing was.
Lin Fan continued looking at the throne for a bit longer before suddenly turning around to leave.
He made sure to keep his cool since he knew that there would be those that were watching him.
That was the real trap of this place and the reason why this even existed to begin with.
Since the Dao Sect had been destroyed by those from the upper realm, would it make any sense that there would be this main hall that was left behind?
This main hall represented the authority of the former Dao Sect, so it would have been a slap in the face if it was left behind in this state.
Not to mention that the tower that was once used for divination had been destroyed like that, which showed that they weren’t against destroying the facilities of the former Dao Sect.
The only reason that this main hall had been left here was because they wanted to prevent another Dao Sect from appearing. It was only with this main hall that they would be able to lay a trap for those that were seeking forbidden knowledge.
So in the end, it turned out that OId Duan really hadn’t been lying to them when he said that it was best that they knew as little as possible. This was also the main reason why he had hid away in the token when they came close to this main hall.
Lin Fan wanted to leave this place as soon as possible to prevent anything from happening.
It was just that things didn’t exactly go the way that he wanted.
"Why is it glowing again?"
When the token started glowing once more, Lin Fan wasn’t happy to see this.
Before this, it would usually mean a good thing if the token started glowing like this.
It was just that in a place like this, it was hard to believe that the token starting to glow like this would be a good thing. No matter how he looked at it, it seemed like this token was reacting to something that had been left by the ones that had preserved this main hall.
Which meant that this wouldn’t be anything good for them.
It wasn’t as if Lin Fan could just ignore it in the end.
Even if he wanted to ignore it, it wasn’t something that he could ignore since he was connected to the token. The sensation coming from the token was something that was directly linked to him, so it was affecting Lin Fan personally.
As time passed, it seemed like the sensation that came from the token was getting stronger and stronger.
It was almost as if it was forcing him to follow the token to where it was trying to lead him.
When this happened, Lin Fan knew that it would be bad if he continued to ignore it.
After all, whatever was causing this sensation to come from this token was related to the ones that were watching over this place. It was something that had been left behind by the ones that had destroyed the Dao Sect.
So he really had no choice but to follow the guidance of the token or else he might have to risk being targeted by them.
An upper cultivation realm really wasn’t something that he could deal with right now.
