With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods
Chapter 1572: None of this is working
As they looked over the Iron Fist King’s condition, they found that they weren’t able to do anything to help him.
It seemed like unless he broke through the illusion that he was trapped in, it didn’t seem like he would be able to come back to his senses.
From the look on his face, they could tell that whatever illusion the Iron Fist King was seeing was something that affected him quite a bit. If it wasn’t for the strength of the Iron Fist King, he might not have lasted this long.
But at the very least, it seems like he was able to hold on for a bit longer.
It didn’t seem like he was in any fatal danger right now, so it wasn’t necessary for them to break the illusion for the Iron Fist King.
Though to be honest, it wasn’t as if they had any idea of how to break it for him.
Lin Fan did take out the token and bring it over to see if it had an effect, but he knew that this wouldn’t work. In the first place, this place was a trial that relied on each person’s individual ability.
It wasn’t as if the token would be able to do anything to help the Iron Fist King break free, unless it magically turned off the illusion array in this position.
But this illusion array was different from anything that they had encountered so far.
It wasn’t going to be shut down that easily.
That was unless they found the main controls for this illusion array and shut it off. But that wasn’t something that could be done that easily either since there were other elders that were stuck here.
While they couldn’t see the other elders, they knew that the other elders would also be inside of this trial somewhere. They were most likely further ahead in this cave and experiencing another trial.
"Let’s keep going and see what we can find."
Since they couldn’t figure out anything to help the Iron Fist King with, they had no choice but to keep going further into the cave. They needed to find more information about this place if they wanted to help the Iron Fist King.
But the moment that they stepped into the third room, the same thing happened where they fell into an illusion.
"Peh."
The illusion that Lin Fan fell into was one where he was completely surrounded in water.
The moment that he fell into this illusion, he already knew what kind of illusion this was.
However, it only took a single thought for him to push aside the water that was around him. After all, it wasn’t as if the water was anything special, it didn’t have a single trace of spiritual energy in it.
So all it took was a single thought for him to push it away with his spiritual energy.
Other than pushing it away, he used his spiritual energy to form a dome around himself that prevented the water from reaching him.
After this dome was established, Lin Fan looked around him before letting out a sigh.
"So it really was this."
The third illusion was one that brought about the fear of death, so it drew on a near death experience from memory.
The near death experience that had been chosen for Lin Fan was one from his past life where he had almost drowned in a pool as a child. Though when it came to the pool that was created by the memory, it was much deeper than any pool that he had ever entered.
Above him, he could see the edges of the pool that showed that this was a pool.
It was just that the water was at least a hundred meters deep with how far away the surface seemed to be. It seemed like the illusion had made the pool much bigger than it actually was to make things seem much worse than they really were.
However, it didn’t matter how big the illusion made the water since it didn’t have an effect on Lin Fan at all.
This was water without a single trace of spiritual energy in it, it just didn’t pose a single threat to Lin Fan with his current cultivation.
"It seems like having a past life is a cheat that allows me to beat this illusion array quite easily." Lin Fan didn’t really know how to feel about this, but it was certainly something that was quite useful.
Since it was just water, it only took a single thought for him to shatter even the pool that was holding the water. Once everything had been scattered, he found himself back in the cave.
This time, there were far more figures that were here compared to the previous room.
Though he didn’t recognize them, Lin Fan knew who these people were. They were the elders from the righteous sects that had left the Iron Fist King behind in the second room.
Altogether, there were four of them in total.
From their appearances, he could guess that there was most likely one elder from each sect that was here. Though it was certainly strange that the elders from each sect would be working together like this, especially with the Iron Fist King.
"They most likely had no choice since the Iron Fist King is stronger than them. So they had to work together to try and face him." From the aura that came from them, that was the conclusion that Lin Fan came to.
He could tell that their aura was weaker than what the Iron Fist King gave off. Even if they combined all of their auras, it wasn’t as if they could match the Iron Fist King.
It seemed like there were all kinds of levels when it came to the elders of the Five Great sects.
After all, it even felt like these elders might not even be able to match Ye Qing Huan.
This time, Lin Fan didn’t have any problems moving since they had learned their lesson from the first two rooms. Even if Ye Qing Huan wasn’t exactly happy about it, she knew that it was best if she didn’t restrain him while she was still trapped in the illusion.
After he finished examining the elders, Lin Fan looked back at Ye Qing Huan and Xiao Mu. He could see from their faces that they were struggling with the illusion that they were trapped in, but he didn’t do anything to help them.
There wasn’t anything that he could do to actually help them after all.
So instead, Lin Fan started moving forward.
He ignored the elders that were in the room with him and headed for the next room.
This was something that they had already discussed after learning what this place was about. They knew that if they wanted to learn more about this place, they needed to keep exploring.
There was no point in waiting for each other to come out of the illusions.
Since Lin Fan had the token, he was the one that actually had the greatest chance of finding anything here. Which was why he continued forward without any hesitation.
When he entered the fourth room, there was another illusion.
It was just that the same thing happened where he broke free with a single thought.
After breaking free, he looked around the room to see if he could find anything here. Only there wasn’t a single thing that was in this place.
None of the elders had even reached this fourth room since they were all stuck in the third room, so there were no traces of anyone reaching this place. At the same time, it didn’t seem like this was the end of the trial as there was another corridor for him to follow.
So Lin Fan continued into the fifth room and cleared the fifth room as well.
"How many rooms are there?" He couldn’t help wondering to himself as he stared at the corridor that was in front of him.
Instead of heading to that corridor right away, Lin Fan walked around the room with the token to see if he could trigger anything. It didn’t seem like just continuing forward was the answer with how there was nothing in these caves.
But no matter how he tried to search the room with the token, he didn’t find a single thing here.
"This isn’t working at all..." Lin Fan muttered to himself with a sigh as he stared at this empty room.
So in the end, he had no choice but to keep going.
It was just that after walking through the corridor, he found that he didn’t enter another illusion. Instead, the space around him started to light up with natural light and soon he walked out of a cave.
Looking behind him, he found that the cave that he walked out of disappeared without a trace. No matter how he tried looking for it, he wasn’t able to find a single trace of the cave that had been there.
The only thing that he could find was another cave entrance that wasn’t that far away from him and this was something that he found familiar.
"It’s the entrance to the trial."
It seemed like the fifth room was the final room and he had been sent out of the trial space without a single thing to gain from it.
"So there was nothing at all..." A wry smile appeared on Lin Fan’s face as he said this, feeling at a bit of a loss as to what to do now.
