Chapter 1491: Traces of fear

Chapter 1491: Traces of fear

Shaking his head, Lin Fan closed the status windows that were in front of him.

It didn’t matter how long he stared at them, he knew that he wouldn’t be able to get any useful information from these status screens.

In fact, staring at them like this actually started to make his eyes hurt a bit.

Once he put the status windows away, Lin Fan went over and picked up Ao Kuang.

Ao Kuang had been slowly opening up to the other pets, so it was surprised when Lin Fan picked it up like this. However, it wasn’t as if Ao Kuang was against Lin Fan holding it in his arms, so it just laid back and relaxed.

Lin Fan saw the way that the other pets looked at him, so he said, "It would be strange if I went out without him. I’ll send him in later so you can get to know each other more then."

All the other pets nodded to show that they understood this, except for Hayase who looked like he wanted Ao Kuang gone as soon as possible.

It wasn’t as if Hayase hated Ao Kuang since the Love Gauge Taming suppressed that.

It was more that Hayase saw Ao Kuang as some kind of rival because of the way that Shiro acted around Ao Kuang. Which was why Hayase wanted to see as little of Ao Kuang as possible, especially when they were around Shiro.

As a result of this, there was another slap that landed on the back of Hayase’s head.

Seeing this, Lin Fan couldn’t stop a smile from appearing on his lips.

The way that Shiro and Hayase reminded him of two disciples of his that acted in a similar manner.

When he last saw them, he could tell that the relationship between them had developed to a certain extent.

Seeing Shiro and Hayase acting this way, Lin Fan couldn’t help wondering if there was something similar that was happening between the two of them.

It wasn’t as if he was against it if it did happen, he just wouldn’t do anything to encourage or discourage it. In the first place, he was someone that advocated free choice.

As long as they chose to do it, then there was nothing that he would complain about.

So with Ao Kuang in hand, Lin Fan walked out of the Pet Storage Space.

When he came out, he found that Xiao Mu was waiting for him.

Ye Qing Huan wasn’t that interested since she already knew that he would be coming out in time, but she did turn over to see what was happening.

Xiao Mu didn’t seem interested in Lin Fan as its attention was on Ao Kuang the entire time.

Ao Kuang didn’t back down this time.

It seemed like introducing Ao Kuang to the pets had helped it develop social skills to a certain extent.

Even if it still had the same cowardly personality as before, Xiao Mu wasn’t someone that Ao Kuang hadn’t met before. So it wasn’t as if Ao Kuang would be afraid of Xiao Mu like they were meeting for the first time.

Lin Fan didn’t mind since he could see that Xiao Mu was acting this way to cover up its curiosity.

It was clear that Xiao Mu wanted to learn more about Ao Kuang now that it had settled down, but it wasn’t as if it could just observe Ao Kuang normally. With the way that things had ended between them before this, it wasn’t as if Xiao Mu could act differently now.

"It’s like two kids who don’t know how to become friends." Lin Fan thought to himself with a bitter laugh.

In the end, he placed Ao Kuang down on the side for Xiao Mu.

It wasn’t as if it was a problem for him to continue holding Ao Kuang if he wanted, he was just trying to create an opening for Xiao Mu and Ao Kuang so they could grow closer.

After all, it wasn’t as if they would be separating after this.

As long as Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan were together, it was natural that they would meet often in the future. So letting them develop a relationship now was something that was beneficial for the future.

It was just that the two of them were acting awkwardly with each other.

"Letting them be rivals isn’t a bad thing either."

Lin Fan was surprised to hear this voice transmission, but then he turned to see the trace of naughtiness that was in Ye Qing Huan’s eyes. She had guessed what he was thinking and had even offered her opinion on it.

It was just the opinion that she offered...

Lin Fan shook his head with a helpless smile, but he didn’t say anything back in response.

Since Ye Qing Huan said this, he knew that she had already made up her mind about this. With Ye Qing Huan’s mind made up like this, it wasn’t as if anything that he said would have changed anything.

Which was why he turned to the Ten Kings that were gathered around a single pile of stones.

It seemed like they had been forming this pile of stones during the time that he had been in the Pet Storage Space.

From the appearance of this pile of stones, it was easy for Lin Fan to tell just what this pile was for. It was their way of creating a grave for the female elder that had passed on.

There wasn’t anything special about these stones, they were just stones that they had gathered from this forest. But in a way, that had its own meaning since this was the place that the female elder had cared for all her life.

At the same time, this was the way of the Ten Kings to honour that female elder.

Since it was the grave of the female elder, Lin Fan felt that he should say a few things before he went to talk with the Ten Kings.

It was just that when he moved forward, he couldn’t help sensing something strange coming from the Ten Kings.

He wasn’t the only one that seemed to have sensed something strange.

When he stepped forward, the Ten Kings suddenly stopped looking at the grave and immediately turned to look at Lin Fan. All of them had expressions on their faces that showed that there was something that they felt coming from Lin Fan.

It was just that the expressions that were on their faces had traces of fear in them.

What they were sensing from Lin Fan was clearly not a good thing.

At the same time, it seemed like it went beyond the calming presence that came from the Love Gauge Taming skill that was also affecting them. It seemed that this fear came from something that was almost instinctual with how they were acting.

After all, it was something that even surpassed cultivation levels.

Lin Fan’s cultivation was lower than theirs, but he was actually putting pressure on them like this.

There was a long silence that hung in the air before the Ten Kings slowly showed signs of calming down. Though Lin Fan could see that it was impossible for this fear to completely disappear since it was something that they felt because of their instincts as spirit beasts.

Lin Fan had no idea what it was that was causing this until he realized that there was only one thing that had changed.

"Even though I stored it away, it’s actually putting pressure on them?" Lin Fan couldn’t help thinking in a confused manner as he stared at the Ten Kings.

The reaction that came from them wasn’t something that could be faked after all.

So that was why Lin Fan pulled out Gramr.

The moment that this sword came out, all of the Ten Kings immediately took a step back.

Before this, they hadn’t been forced back by the pressure that they felt and had been able to endure it without actually showing any reaction.

However, this sensation was completely different.

It was the feeling that they would be hunted if they didn’t move away from this sword that had just appeared.

"Why are they acting this way? The only thing that would cause this is if they had dragon bloodline since Gramr is a sword for slaying dragons..." Lin Fan thought to himself before suddenly coming to a conclusion and thinking of something else to test.

With Gramr in hand, he started approaching the Ten Kings.

But as he did this, the Ten Kings couldn’t help taking steps back.

It was just that they were in this small cabin and it wasn’t as if there was that much space for them to move. Even if they wanted to avoid Lin Fan and Gramr, there was only so much space that they could move in this place.

Eventually, they reached a wall and couldn’t move any further.

If it wasn’t for the Love Gauge Taming skill that was keeping them from attacking, they might have already lashed out at Lin Fan.

It wasn’t as if it was something that they wanted to do, it was something that they had no choice but to do because their instincts drove them to it. For spirit beasts, there was nothing stronger than their instincts when it came to what drove them.

"Why are you acting this way?" Lin Fan asked when he saw how these Ten Kings were acting.

It didn’t make any sense that they would have this kind of reaction to Gramr.
