Chapter 1483: Better for them

Since the voice had spoken, it seemed like Lin Fan had passed the trial.

Only he didn’t stop the last member of the Ten Kings from falling under his control as well even though the voice had spoken up to stop him.

It only needed a single push and that was easy for him since all it took was a single order to the Mimic Slime.

Once that prompt appeared, Lin Fan didn’t hesitate to agree with the prompt and the light appeared around this red maned lion.

After a moment of silence, there was a sigh that rang out before saying, "So you still took everything in the end."

Then without them saying anything, there was a path that lit up among the trees. It wasn’t as if there was anything that moved out of the way for them, it was just a trail of light that seemed to be there for them to follow.

Even without a single instruction, it was clear what they were supposed to do.

But neither Lin Fan or Ye Qing Huan moved since they were observing the path of light. They were trying to see what it was that created this path of light in front of them.

In the end, it was Xiao Mu that moved first.

It didn’t seem like there was any hesitation from Xiao Mu as it started heading towards that path of light.

Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan looked at each other for a few seconds before following behind Xiao Mu.

They could see the way that Xiao Mu moved forward.

There wasn’t a single trace of hesitation in those steps. To move forward with this kind of determination, it was clear that Xiao Mu knew something about this path of light that they didn’t know.

This didn’t seem like anything special, it even looked like a hunter’s hut with the way that it was designed.

This clearly wasn’t a place that would hold anything important.

But this was the place that the path of light led them to.

Once they arrived in the clearing, the door of the hut suddenly opened up for them as if inviting them in.

Once again, there was no hesitation at all from Xiao Mu as it walked right up to that door and walked into the hut.

Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan couldn’t help exchanging wry smiles when they saw this since this was different from just following a path of light. But in the end, they still trusted Xiao Mu and followed it into the hut.

The hut itself was actually well lit and it seemed lived in, almost as if there had been someone here for a long time. However, they all knew that whoever had been living here was nothing more than a remnant soul.

So it wasn’t as if they would have needed the same things that a normal living person would have.

They certainly wouldn’t have left this place looking lived in like this.

Once they were inside of the hut, they could easily see who it was that had summoned them here since that person was just sitting there in the center of the hut.

It was a beautiful woman who looked like she didn’t have a single care in the world, but the aura that she gave off showed otherwise. The aura that she possessed wasn’t the aura that a normal person would have.

This was clearly the elder of the Dao Sect.

It looked like she was welcoming them in with how she just sat there in her chair with a smile on her face, but that smile disappeared once Lin Fan made it into the room.

The moment that Lin Fan appeared in front of her, it seemed like her smile soured as she glared at him.

That caused an awkward smile to appear on his face, but he didn’t say anything as he waited to see what kind of reaction she would give first.

"So you’re the thief that’s been stealing my children away."

Even more bitterness filled Lin Fan’s face when he heard this.

When this elder of the Dao Sect put it like this, Lin Fan really didn’t know how to respond.

He had already seen how the elders cared about the things that they used in their trials.

The alchemy hall elder with Xiao Sheng, the training hall elder with Xiao Mu, and so on.

It seemed like all of the elders cared very much about the things that they used since these were the things that they were the most passionate about. As the head of these halls, it was only natural that they would care about these things.

"Crazy cat lady." That was what popped into Lin Fan’s head when he saw how this female elder acted.

"It feels like you just thought of something rude." The female elder narrowed her eyes to look at Lin Fan all of a sudden.

The female elder once again narrowed her eyes to look at Lin Fan, but then she didn’t push this matter. Instead, she chose to pursue the other matter that she cared more about.

Lin Fan really didn’t know what to say at first since this female elder was just being unreasonable when she made this request.

"Who told you to ransack this entire place?" The female elder retorted back without missing a single beat.

Lin Fan couldn’t help shaking his head with a bitter smile after hearing this, but he forced himself to calm down before saying, "Isn’t it better this way?"

The female elder immediately glared at Lin Fan, but she didn’t say anything in response. She just looked at him as if she was waiting for him to elaborate on what he meant by this.

Lin Fan took a deep breath before saying, "In the first place, don’t you think it’s a waste for your babies to waste their lives here? You should know that there’s no way out for them as long as they remain in this place."

There was a small reaction that came from the female elder’s face when she heard this, but then she calmed herself down as she waited for him to continue.

"I know that you want to protect them, but they aren’t that weak anymore. Making them stay here is nothing more than holding them back. You should let them go out and see the world."

At this point, Lin Fan was talking to the female elder as if she was some kind of helicopter parent that was smothering her children. Though it wasn’t as if this was wrong since this was technically what the relationship between the female elder and the spirit beasts was like.

It really seemed like she was doing all that she could to keep them there with her...

As he continued trying to persuade her, it didn’t seem like it was having any effect on her at first. But then all of a sudden, the female elder gave a sigh as she said, "I know that you’re right, but they’re little kids that I’ve raised since they were just babies. How could I let them go that easily?"

All of the spirit beasts were already fully grown and were even acting like kings among the other spirit beasts. Even if they were to go out into the outside world, it wasn’t as if they would really suffer as Soul Formation Realm Spirit Beasts.

This elder from the Dao Sect was most likely the only one that could even treat these Soul Formation Realm Spirit Beasts as children.

The strangest thing was how Ye Qing Huan looked at the female elder as if she could relate to her.

After all, it wasn’t as if Ye Qing Huan ever had a child...

But it seemed like Ye Qing Huan was looking in Xiao Mu’s direction from time to time.

After taking a while to calm down, the female elder finally said, "You said that it’s better for them, but show me where you’re planning on keeping them. Unless I see it for myself, I won’t be able to calm down."

An awkward look appeared on Lin Fan’s face when he heard this, but he called out the portal to the Minor World in the end for the female elder. However, it seemed like he didn’t think that she would be able to enter it.

Only in the end, the female elder proved him completely wrong.
