Chapter 1392: A special power
Chapter 1392: A special power
With Cheongryong and Baekho arranging things, it didn’t take them long to arrive at the Highoak Family Manor.
At the same time, it was easy for them to enter since the ones that were guarding this place came from the Laver Empire’s information network.
Though technically, they were soldiers that worked for this kingdom’s military.
The Laver Empire’s information network had spread its grasp far enough to even infiltrate another kingdom’s territory, showing just how powerful they were. But at this point, Lin Fan wasn’t surprised by anything.
Once they were in the manor, Cheongryong and Baekho stopped leading the way to give the lead to Lin Fan.
He was the one that wanted to come here, so it was only natural that they would let him lead.
Though at the same time, they were watching him carefully as if they were making sure that they didn’t miss a single move that he made.
Lin Fan felt a trace of bitterness rising in him seeing this, but he knew that he wouldn’t be able to stop him.
So in the end, he just went around the manor without saying anything.
While walking around, Lin Fan’s head kept turning as if he was looking for something in particular. However, it didn’t seem like he was able to find it as he kept walking past everything that was here.
After a while, Cheongryong and Baekho couldn’t help looking a bit worried and confused.
Cheongryong even came forward to ask, “Is everything alright?”
Lin Fan didn’t say anything at first, but then he said, “I’m just looking for the thing that’ll give us all the answers that we need.”
Cheongryong and Baekho looked at him with strange looks when they heard this, but they didn’t say anything as they continued following him.
It took a while, but Lin Fan finally found what he was looking for and it was in a place that he honestly should have expected.
After walking around for a while, he finally found what he was looking for in the workshop that he had been shown previously.
It should have been obvious that it was in this place, but Lin Fan had searched through the entire manor still before arriving at this place.
Since this was related to how they created the array, it only made sense that this would be the place that they hid this secret. Otherwise, they would have to go a long way each time just to bring things over here.
When he found the entrance, Lin Fan raised the jade that was filled with that spiritual energy.
“Click.”
As soon as this sound rang out, a door opened up in front of them.
Lin Fan hadn’t known where the door would be, but it seemed like he had found the right place as he was standing right in front of it.
Cheongryong and Baekho stepped forward the moment that this door opened, but they didn’t do it to stop Lin Fan. Rather, they had stepped forward and raised their weapons as if they were protecting him.
Even though they were technically watching over him, it wasn’t as if they weren’t here to help him either.
When there was nothing that came out, the two of them lowered their guards and waited for Lin Fan to enter this room first.
It wasn’t that they were using him as some kind of sacrifice to test what was in this room. Nor was it that they were letting him go in first because that was something that they agreed upon.
They were just letting him go first because they knew that he was the one that was the most well equipped for this. He was the one that had found out about this place to begin with, even after all of their subordinates had missed it.
Which was why they trusted Lin Fan to find more things from this place.
However, that didn’t mean that they were going to leave everything in his hands.
They were still going to watch over him and see what he was going to do, so that they wouldn’t miss it if he actually found something.
Lin Fan didn’t say anything about this as he focused on the room around him.
It was his plan to come here to begin with, so he just focused on seeing if he could find what he wanted to find.
It didn’t take long for him to find this thing and it wasn’t what Cheongryong and Baekho had been expecting to see.
After all, it seemed like just a normal talisman.
From what they could sense, it really didn’t feel like there was anything different about this talisman. It felt like any talisman that they had seen before.
Only when Lin Fan looked at it, his Appraisal Eyes immediately told him what was different about this talisman.
Though he didn’t share this with Cheongryong and Baekho.
The only thing that he shared with them was, “This is a talisman that can convert the energy of the other continent into mana.”
Cheongryong and Baekho had skeptical looks on their faces when they heard this, but Lin Fan directly gave a demonstration that made those looks disappear.
When he summoned his spiritual energy, they knew that he wasn’t lying about this.
Spiritual energy wasn’t something that could be faked, so they could tell that what was happening was what he said was happening.
That was why both of them stepped forward to take a closer look at this talisman.
Since they were trusted subordinates of Haku, they naturally knew about spiritual energy and how incompatible it was with mana. Which was why they were curious how this talisman was able to do such a thing.
But no matter how they looked at it, they weren’t able to figure out anything.
The more that they looked at it, the more confused they were by this.
The only thing that they could tell was that there was some kind of special array that was on this talisman that was causing this. As for how that array worked, they just couldn’t figure out at all since they weren’t experts on this matter.
After looking at this talisman for a bit, Cheongryong reached her hand out to take it.
Lin Fan didn’t say anything as she took it from him since he had expected it to happen.
After Cheongryong took it, she said, “We’ll have someone look at it and see what they can find. If they can solve it, then we’ll tell you what we’ve found about it.”
The way that she said this seemed like it was a normal thing, but Lin Fan knew that this was her cutting him off. After all, she had even said it in a way that made it clear that he wouldn’t be able to take this back after giving it up.
In a way, it was a warning that this thing was dangerous which was why it couldn’t be given to him. But Lin Fan didn’t mind since he knew this would happen after letting them come with him.
He knew that this was what they were supposed to do in the first place and was the main reason that they had followed him like this.
Other than this, it seemed like they were planning on taking the other things that were in the room.
Cheongryong and Baekho clearly didn’t know what the other things in this room were, but that didn’t stop them from going forward to confiscate everything.
It seemed that they couldn’t trust anything in this room to Lin Fan.
Lin Fan just stood on the side while they were doing this.
He stood there since he knew that there was nothing that he could do, but Cheongryong and Baekho looked at him from time to time. It was clear from the way that they looked at him that they were expecting him to do something.
They clearly didn’t expect him to act this meek and let them take everything like this.
After all, they had been told that this was something that he had incited. That meant that all of this was something that he had wanted to find.
Now that he had found it and it was being taken from in front of him, this should have been something that was hard for him to accept.
So seeing that he didn’t have any reactions at all made Cheongyong and Baekho confused.
They couldn’t help looking at him as if something was wrong.
When they had finished collecting everything in this room, there really wasn’t a single thing that was left behind. They had been very thorough in collecting everything that was here, even if they didn’t know what these things were.
They just knew that if they were here, then they wouldn’t be simple things.
Or it was better to say that since it was here with that talisman, it meant that they couldn’t let these things fall into Lin Fan’s hands or else they would have no idea what would happen.
Once they were done, they looked at Lin Fan with the same strange look.
After a moment of silence, Cheongryong said, “We’ll let you know if we find anything with these things.”
Lin Fan didn’t answer with words, he just answered with a simple nod that made the two of them feel even more strange.
They didn’t know what was wrong, but they could tell that there was something wrong with the way that Lin Fan was acting.
But since he wasn’t causing a commotion, there really wasn’t anything that they could say to him…
