Chapter 1391: Beating around the bush

Lin Fan thought that he had made a breakthrough, but it turned out that this wasn’t the case.

After he confirmed this, all of the members of the Highoak Family immediately fell silent once again. Only this time, it seemed like they wouldn’t say anything even if their legs were broken.

It seemed like they were planning on taking whatever secrets they had to the grave.

In fact, it even seemed like they had been emboldened because they knew that there were others. It was as if they knew that there were others to pass on the Dao Sect’s legacy if they were to disappear.

The more that he saw them act like this, the more confused that Lin Fan felt about this entire situation.

With the dedication that they had towards the Dao Sect, perhaps that loyalty of theirs could be manipulated in some way.

Or perhaps there was something that they were still hiding that would give him the information on the Dao Sect that he wanted.

The only problem was that the people from the Laver Empire were watching his every move and were listening in on what they were discussing. If they heard anything that they felt they could use, then they would immediately make a move.

It wasn’t as if Lin Fan couldn’t handle Haku and the Laver Empire interfering, it was just that it would be much more troublesome for him…

So in the end, Lin Fan had to think of a way to beat around the bush.

He started thinking about the information that he had received from Ye Qing Huan about the four righteous sects. This information wasn’t just about the four righteous sects, this information was also about the Dao Sect.

So in the end, Lin Fan changed the topic by asking, “Your arrays are quite special in how they were able to convert spiritual energy into mana. It seems like you’re using something special to achieve this since you don’t have this ability yourself.”

“So you’re an outsider that was brought in by those that captured us. It seems like you’re a cultivator as well, but it doesn’t seem like they’re hostile towards you which means you must be a traitor. Someone like you really is rare.” Daniel said in response.

With the way that he spoke, it was as if he was the one that was in charge of this conversation.

He really didn’t seem to have any fear even though he had been captured and was currently being kept in a prison like this.

Lin Fan didn’t mind that he acted this way as he calmly looked at him while waiting for an answer.

Seeing that there was no response, Daniel continued by saying, “Since you’re a cultivator, why would you be working with these people? Shouldn’t you be thinking of the others on the other continent? They are your family and you’re betraying them like this.”

The others were incited by his words and started cursing out Lin Fan in the same manner.

But during all of this, Lin Fan just calmly looked at them as if he was waiting for an answer.

Once they were done, they fell silent once more as if they had nothing else to say to Lin Fan.

After another silence, Lin Fan finally said, “So the key is your cultivation technique. It seems like you have a cultivation technique that allows you to open up whatever you have hidden in your manor.”

The members of the Highoak Family were completely caught off guard hearing this.

It was so out of left field that they couldn’t help reacting to it and that reaction was all that Lin Fan needed to know what to do next.

There was actually a part of Lin Fan that couldn’t help feeling a bit embarrassed for not thinking about this earlier. After all, this should have been the obvious way to solve this problem of finding their stash.

Before this, he wasn’t able to do anything since there was something that had blocked his Appraisal Eyes. But after they had been captured, there was no doubt that everything that they possessed would be taken away.

That included anything that would block the power of his Appraisal Eyes.

After that, it was easy for Lin Fan to use his Appraisal Eyes to see through these members of the Highoak Family. From the information that his Appraisal Eyes gave him, he could see that they were actually cultivating a special cultivation technique.

“What are you doing?” Daniel asked when he felt this suction force, but Lin Fan didn’t say anything as he continued using his power.

After a while, Daniel collapsed on the floor of this cell without being able to move a muscle. However, Lin Fan didn’t seem like he was done with whatever he was doing and he raised his hand towards Ashton who moved away from him.

“Don’t do this…” Ashton said in a weak voice, but he couldn’t stop Lin Fan from doing what he was doing.

After draining a few of them, it seemed like he was done with these members of the Highoak Family. In his hand was a jade that was filled with the spiritual energy of the Highoaks, which was something that only Lin Fan could do.

With this spiritual energy, he would be able to find what they were hiding.

Though when he came out, he was quickly surrounded by both Cheongryong and Baekho.

The two of them acted normal as they just asked him if he had learned anything from the Highoak Family. But they made sure that they moved with him as if they weren’t planning on letting him move a single step away from them.

Lin Fan didn’t have to be a genius to know what was going on.

So instead of getting angry with them or trying to lose them, he just simply said with a sigh, “I need to go to their manor and see if I can find anything.”

Cheongryong and Baekho nodded in agreement before they arranged for everything.

However, it was clear that they still weren’t planning on leaving him alone since they were planning to go with him.

It seemed that whatever he found, they wanted to know about it as well.

Lin Fan knew that it was impossible to lose them, so he didn’t go against what they had arranged.

For now, working with them would get him the information he wanted as soon as possible.

But later on…he would have to find a way to lose them.
