Chapter 1375: Secret laughs
Chapter 1375: Secret laughs
When the Heavenly Demon Sect group was sent off, the Mist Lord…or rather Lin Fan couldn’t help letting out a sigh of relief.
There was a part of him that had been worried that he would be seen through, but it didn’t happen in the end.
The outfit that he had picked out really was up to the test.
One could only say as expected of the Dungeon Master System, or rather as expected of something that was created by a god.
With this last group saved, it meant that they had foiled the plans of the four righteous sects on this magic continent. Everything that Lin Fan had been preparing for had led up to this and it seemed like he hadn’t failed.
The only problem was that now the name Mist Lord would spread across the cultivation continent.
Lin Fan had thought that with this nickname, he would be able to hide himself and blend into the background.
But it turned out that this made him even more noticeable.
He thought that the attention would be on the one that had controlled the roots. After all, that person would be the one that would be considered the biggest threat by the Heavenly Demon Sect group.
It was just that with the way that things went, it made him seem like the mastermind that controlled every single little thing.
It had to be said that they really were good at coordinating with him in a way that made him stand out.
But at the same time, this showed Lin Fan the power that those trusted by Haku possessed. Especially those that were at a level where they could command others.
The one that had coordinated with Lin Fan was Cheongryong. The power that she demonstrated with those roots showed just how powerful she was.
After all, she had basically taken down the Kunlun Sect squad all by herself.
Though there was a part of Lin Fan that felt it was natural or else the Laver Empire wouldn’t have the position that it currently had on the continent.
The problem was that this didn’t happen once, but four times in total.
After all, they had gone to save the Heavenly Demon Sect four times.
None of the four righteous sects had been working with each other, which meant that there were four different arrays that had been prepared.
All of these were used to target the Heavenly Demon Sect, but they were in different locations. Which meant that when it came to travel time, each one had a different travel time.
If it wasn’t for this, Lin Fan certainly couldn’t have been in four different places at the same time.
It was only because they were set to activate at different times that he was able to help all of the groups from the Heavenly Demon Sect.
Though the main part was because of the teleportation array that the Laver Empire had set up. Or else it really would have been hard for Lin Fan to move all across the magic continent to the different places that the arrays had been set.
Now that it was all over, it was time to head back to the Laver Empire’s capital to report back in.
But as they were heading back, Lin Fan could hear a few things behind his back.
“Hee, hee.”
It was the sound of laughter and it wasn’t just any kind of laughter. This was the kind of laughter that was clearly directed at him, as if it was making fun of him.
Lin Fan didn’t even need to guess to know why there was this laughter coming from behind him.
After all, there was only one reason that they would be laughing at him like this.
Even now, he was still in his Mist Lord attire.
When he had shown himself to the Heavenly Demon Sect groups, he had already started hearing these laughs coming from behind him.
Though Lin Fan knew that it wasn’t any of the beastmen making fun of him. Rather, they were laughing at his discomfort over how he appeared to the Heavenly Demon Sect elders.
It was clear that Lin Fan didn’t want to stand out, but he had stood out like that even though he tried to blend into the background.
At the same time, they couldn’t help finding the outfit that Lin Fan wore funny.
It was a situation that Lin Fan had encountered in his past life, so there were two layers of embarrassment that were piled on top of each other because of this. It was the feeling of dressing up for people that just simply didn’t appreciate the time and effort that you put into it.
It was like when people didn’t understand a man’s hobby of collecting cars or mechs.
That was why he couldn’t help feeling a bit awkward hearing them laugh in secret like this.
It was a good thing that Lin Fan had developed a thick skin with his experience in this world or else he really would have wanted to crawl into a hole to hide himself.
The one thing that really didn’t help was the way that Baekho looked at him.
Even though Baekho was no longer as aggressive as he was in the past, he was still trying to get jabs in from time to time. The way that he looked at Lin Fan with that smile on his face certainly didn’t help at all.
Then when Cheongryong helped him by slapping Baekho in the back of the head, it made things even worse. After all, the way that she acted was like a mother that was protecting their son’s hobbies.
This really wasn’t something that Lin Fan wanted to experience in his second life.
It was a good thing that they had the teleportation array to take them back to the Laver Empire’s capital quickly.
However, Lin Fan didn’t get a chance to change before he was brought in front of Haku and the ministers of the Laver Empire once more.
When he appeared, he could hear the secret laughs that were coming from around him.
They really weren’t trying to hide it at all with the way that they laughed at him which made him feel even more awkward.
In the end, there was something that Lin Fan came to do which allowed him to stop this embarrassing thing from happening.
“So you’ve given them the decision that our Laver Empire has made and they said that they would consider it?” Haku asked when Lin Fan finished with his report.
Hearing what Lin Fan said, it didn’t seem like the ministers were happy about the Heavenly Demon Sect’s response. With the looks on their faces, it was as if they thought that the other side was looking down on them.
When the Laver Empire offered this kind of deal, this was the kind of thing that they should accept without any hesitation. After all, this kind of deal really was something that was on a different level.
This was the kind of deal that wouldn’t be offered unless they received the respect of the Laver Empire.
So for them to take this time to consider it…
“If you were offered the same deal from the other side, would you take it?” Haku asked all of a sudden, showing that she knew exactly what her ministers were thinking.
They looked at her with awkward looks when they heard this, but it seemed like there was still something that they wanted to say.
However, Haku seemed to predict this as she said, “Think of the other side’s status. Even if we have helped them today, it wasn’t as if they would have really suffered at the hands of those other sects. In the end, they are qualified to have this kind of hesitation.”
The way that Haku analyzed this showed just how qualified she was to be the empress of this Laver Empire.
When Haku said all of this, there really wasn’t much that the ministers could say to refute it since they all knew that she was right.
But the looks on their faces showed that they weren’t satisfied with leaving things like this.
Since they couldn’t say anything else, the only one that they could blame was Lin Fan.
He was the one that had represented the Laver Empire in offering this deal to the Heavenly Demon Sect, but the fact of the matter was that Lin Fan was someone from the Heavenly Demon Sect in the first place.
They could just say that he didn’t act with the full interest of the Laver Empire in his heart by doing all of this.
As if Haku knew exactly how to solve this, she said, “For now, go back and watch the reaction of the Heavenly Demon Sect.”
She was sending Lin Fan back to the cultivation continent so that no one would be able to do anything to him.
The ministers seemed a bit disappointed hearing this, but they knew that this was for the best. After all, this was a crucial period of time where the equilibrium could break and it was best to have everything that they could have in place to swing things to their side.
Lin Fan knew what Haku was doing and he had no reason to reject this since he was also curious how the cultivation continent would react.
The only thing that he was certain of was that there wouldn’t be a small reaction.
This was something that involved the very balance between the Five Great Sects.
