Chapter 1197: A named dungeon
Chapter 1197: A named dungeon
After meeting the ancestor of the Mu Family, Lin Fan headed right back to the magic continent.
When he arrived in town, he found that he was surrounded by people. All of them seemed like they had something for him or had something for him to do.
It wasn’t as if Lin Fan didn’t know who these people were, it was just that he didn’t expect to be swarmed by them like this.
With how much they wanted to talk to him, it was as if they had been waiting a long time just to talk to him.
That was why he was confused because in the first place, Rokuko was supposed to be the one that took care of these people.
Since this was where her second core was, she could be considered his representative when it came to matters like this. She even had Yue Lan and Ming Xin to help her develop this place.
The receptionist from the Adventurer’s Guild explained everything for him in the end.
“Baron, there are things that a representative can’t do for you. These are things that need your approval.”
Lin Fan was surprised to be addressed by this, but he knew why.
It seemed that during the time that he had been away, he had been promoted to the rank of baron because of how much the dungeon and the surrounding town had developed.
It had reached a point where the dungeon had even received a rank and a proper name.
Haku’s dungeon in the capital of the Laver Empire was a S Rank Dungeon known as the White Labyrinth.
Rokuko’s dungeon was a D Rank Dungeon known as the Dungeon of Greed.
That was because of how Rokuko’s dungeon worked.
In a sense, the name was a warning for those that wanted to come to Rokuko’s dungeon.
That was because in her dungeon, greed was the one thing that one should never have.
As long as one was willing to restrain their greed, they would be able to gain the loot that they desired. As long as they weren’t excessively greedy, then the dungeon would be a normal dungeon.
It was only when one was excessively greedy that the dungeon showed its true form.
For those that didn’t restrain themselves, they would face the full might of the Dungeon of Greed.
All kinds of different traps and monsters would appear, but these traps and monsters would only target the ones that were filled with greed. Even if they tried using others as scapegoats, the dungeon seemed to recognize that they were the ones that were the targets.
They just ignored those that were dragged in by the targets and only went after those targets.
After seeing it happen so many times, it was why the dungeon was named the Dungeon of Greed.
Though in reality, this was all because of Lin Fan’s idea.
It was best for Rokuko’s second dungeon to cooperate with the people that lived here and since the society of the magic continent was different from that of the cultivation continent, a different method had to be used.
This was the method that Lin Fan chose.
Letting them know that as long as they were willing to work with the dungeon, then the dungeon wouldn’t harm them.
The real prize was the DP that these people gave just by being on the land that the dungeon was on. As long as they were here, the cost of making the loot that the adventurers gave could be neglected.
They provided far more DP passively just by being here.
At the same time, the inn that they made was earning quite a bit of money from the adventurers that could be used to buy resources that would be funneled back to the cultivation continent.
That meant that the bigger that this dungeon town became, the more benefits there were.
The only thing that they had to worry about was the dungeon core hunters.
These dungeon core hunters were different from normal adventurers since they made it their mission to take down all of the dungeon cores that they found. That was all because of the special power that one could gain from breaking the dungeon cores.
Since the dungeon cores were special magic items that were created by Weiss, the god of magic, it only made sense that it contained a large amount of mana. When these dungeon cores were cracked, the large amount of mana that was stored in these dungeon cores would burst forward.
For the one that cracked open the dungeon core, this large amount of mana would be the perfect elixir for them.
Once they absorbed this large amount of mana, they would often find themselves much stronger than before. At the same time, they would find that they would awaken several new abilities.
It was called the blessing of the gods for defeating the natural enemies that were the dungeon cores.
Though it was a bit strange to think of it that way.
It was indeed the blessing of the gods since the mana came from the god of magic Weiss, but it wasn’t exactly right to call it a blessing from him since they were destroying the dungeon cores which were his children.
So it really was a strange way to think about it.
However, this kind of thing wasn’t allowed in the Laver Empire.
On the surface, it was said that this was to avoid losing out on the natural resources that were generated from the monsters in the dungeon.
But deep down, it wasn’t as if Haku was going to allow these humans to destroy the dungeon cores that could be considered her siblings. Especially since she had once gone on a crusade to get rid of all the dungeon cores that had tried to hunt other dungeon cores.
She was someone that protected other dungeon cores, so she naturally wouldn’t allow humans to do anything to them.
Almost all of the dungeon core hunters had been chased out of the Laver Empire by Haku’s people. The ones that were left were the ones that were smart enough to hide themselves from the rest of society in the hidden pockets where no one could find them.
If they ever dared to poke their heads out, they would immediately be chased down by Haku’s people.
But putting that aside, the fact that Rokuko had become a named dungeon meant that she was being recognized as a proper dungeon. It meant that there were more and more people that would be entering her dungeon each day, meaning that they would be earning more DP.
It seemed like the plan was going quite well for the development of this dungeon town.
The one downside was…
“Alright, just tell me what you need me to approve.” Lin Fan said with a sigh in the end.
With that, the different people all brought forth the different things that they had for him. Lin Fan went over each and every one of them as he couldn’t just approve something he didn’t know anything about.
But in the end, it turned out to be simple things such as asking for permission to hold an event or open up a stall.
These were things that should have been possible for Rokuko or the people they had hired to help to sign for. As for the people that they hired, they were naturally intelligent monsters from the dungeon.
Though in this case, it felt like something that Yue Lan and Ming Xin should have taken care of. It really felt like they were pushing this on Lin Fan to get back at him…
“It’s because you’re never around that we couldn’t create a proper seal for you. If we don’t have a seal, then we can’t sign things for you.” Yue Lan gave this as an excuse, but it was clear that Ming Xin and her were enjoying this to a certain extent.
“So you’re telling me that you don’t have a seal prepared?” Lin Fan casually asked without actually expecting anything.
But in the end, it showed how prepared Yue Lan and Ming Xin were as they pulled out a seal without hesitation.
Lin Fan couldn’t help shaking his head with a bitter smile on his lips. As expected, they really were just messing with him.
“So there’s nothing left for me to do here?” Lin Fan asked, half messing with them while also being a bit serious.
After all, he did want to help them like always. It was just that he usually wasn’t actually able to help since they were much smarter than him when it came to matters like this.
As he expected…
“It’s fine. We’ll take care of things here, so go do what you need to do.”
A trace of bitterness and helplessness appeared on Lin Fan’s face, but he nodded in agreement to this.
Still for the sake of it, he asked what they were planning.
All that happened was that he was confused by what they said. They were just on a completely different level when it came to matters like this.
Seeing this, Yue Lan just said with a smile, “There’s no need to try so hard. We know that what you’re doing for us is important too.”
Ming Xin and Rokuko nodded in agreement to this.
Lin Fan couldn’t help shaking his head with a smile when he saw this before taking the three of them in his arms.
It was only when he had them supporting him like this that he was able to do what was needed.
