Chapter 787: Bad Dragon
Chapter 787: Bad Dragon
Hours slipped by, yet Erebus showed no sign of slowing, as if he were reclaiming every moment he had lost when she had been within his reach, yet never truly his.
All the restraint he had held onto for so long had finally shattered, leaving nothing behind but raw, unfiltered need.
If Drayce had been a storm, then Erebus was something far beyond it that could not be contained within the limits of the world.
Seren had long since lost track of time.
Her body, pushed to its limits, responded only to him now—yielding, trembling, unable to resist. Every movement, every breath, every heartbeat belonged was at his mercy.
When she could no longer hold on, when even her strength gave way beneath the intensity of it all, Erebus finally slowed.
He lowered his head into the crook of her neck, his heated breath warm against her sweaty skin. His lips brushed over the place where he had marked her during the marking ceremony.
The mark pulsed faintly beneath his touch.
He lingered there, his tongue tracing over it slowly, deliberately, as if memorizing the very existence of it. A low sound rumbled in his chest, deep and possessive, something that belonged only to her.
Then, drawn by instinct stronger than thought, he canines once more dug into her skin to complete their bond, as he moved for final strong thrust to drive both of them at the edge of pleasure.
Seren’s body trembled beneath him, a soft cry escaping her lips as the sensation spread through her—not pain, not entirely, but something consuming, that reached far deeper than the physical.
The bond surged.
Dark shadows rose around them, curling and weaving through the air like living things, wrapping around their bodies as if shielding them from the world beyond.
It was no longer just a union of bodies. It was a claiming of souls. The connection between them deepened, settled, and finally—locked into place.
When the shadows slowly faded, the room fell still.
Seren lay unmoving on the bed, her body utterly spent, her breathing soft and uneven as unconsciousness claimed her.
Erebus remained beside her. For the first time, the storm within him stilled.
His hand lifted slowly, almost cautiously brushed against her cheek. His touch, once fierce and unrelenting, now carried a tenderness that only she could draw out of him.
His dark eyes traced every detail of her face, as though engraving her into his very being.
"Mate," he murmured, his voice deep, yet softened by something unfamiliar. "Mine."
While she continued to sleep unaware what was happening, Erebus continued to lay next to her, unmoved, his eyes simply watching her. As if he she would despair if he were to look away or leave her side.
His eyes would move to her neck often, waiting for the bond mark to form.

Seren woke up by the afternoon. Sunlight had filled the room despite the curtains being drawn. She opened her eyes, only to see a pair of pitch-dark eyes staring at her.
Taken aback a little, but not scared, she looked back at him. If she wasn’t wrong, it was the first time she could see Erebus in daylight so clearly and so peacefully.
The last time was when Drayce was hurt and Erebus had to show up to protect them. But it wasn’t peaceful anymore.
As she tried to face her mate, she winced in pain. Her entire body ached like hell, as if she had been pressed under a huge rock for long.
’I thought Drayce was too much, but I was wrong. My Drayce is way more gentle,’ she thought and avoided meeting Erebus’s eyes in case he caught her thoughts.
Erebus finally moved. He pushed the blanket away from her body and lifted her naked form in his arms without saying a word. Well, he never says anything ever.
"Where are you taking me?" Seren asked, wondering how to cover herself in the broad daylight. "At least let me put on some clothes."
"Soak!" he answered and walked out of the room, carrying her.
Seren understood and waited for him to take her to the bath, but he walked out of the cottage.
"Erebus," she quickly covered her chest and looked towards the sky for someone flying up there, "you can’t take me out without clothes. This kingdom has eagles, I mean winged clans patrolling in the sky."
"No one!" he said and continued to walk.
Before she could say more, a strong force hit her, and the next moment she found herself in a warm water pool.
’This dragon is too fast, and always using his powers to move around,’ she thought and found Erebus letting her settle in the water.
She looked around. It wasn’t a river, but some place surrounded by huge rocks, and in the middle, this hot water spring flowed.
"Healing water," Erebus told her as if he understood her mind.
She looked back at him. "You found it?"
He offered a light nod.
She offered him a smile, letting the feeling of healing envelop her. "You are so thoughtful."
He simply watched her enjoying it, while she said again, "I can feel my body mending already. This water is magical. I’ll be fine in no time."
Just as she said it, she sensed something. There was clearly a change in Erebus’s eyes, a shift she understood clearly.
As if she had just dug her grave, she stepped back to create a distance between them. "I mean, not so soon. It might take a day or two... Ahh..."
She was pulled back towards him without him making a move. He was using his powers. She lowered her gaze to the water, only to see shadows melting from his body, floating in the water. They had surrounded her and pulled her back to him, her naked body pressed against his.
His gaze made his intentions clear.
"Erebus... it takes time to heal..."
"Healed!" he said, his hand moving to caress the wet strands of her hair, pushing them back from her neck, his fingers brushing over the mark on her neck.
"Wait. I forgot. A complete mark appeared?" she asked, excited to see it.
He looked back at her and offered a nod.
She was happy. "I want to see it. I can’t wait to... Ugh..."
Her lips were sealed the next moment. Erebus was in the mood for something else. "First mate."
She understood. He wanted to mate again and then show her the mark. The greedy dragon was at it again. Before she could even deny it, she was already pushed against the stone wall, her mouth sealed, a pair of hands running over her body.
Soon, the quiet healing water spring was filled with her soft cries and his content growls. When it was over, Seren found herself resting against his muscular chest, soaking in the water.
"First hurt... and then heal... bad dragon..." she mumbled and closed her eyes.
