Chapter 1399: Chapter 1399: Go Check on That Woman

"Young Master?" Olly stopped in confusion, blinking.

Matthew Saxon’s brows were slightly furrowed, his expression darker than the Alex outside the window, his eyes cold and soaked, as if they’d been steeped in ice water. The moment he looked over, it was like frost spilling out.

It was just a normal glance, but Olly still couldn’t help shivering, reaching up to rub away the goosebumps on her arms.

He seemed to be hesitating about something. His brows drew together and then loosened, loosened and then tightened again, clearly troubled over something.

Olly watched him quietly, not daring to rush him at all.

At times like this, if she said even one wrong word, she could get cursed out so badly it’d be like a bloody downpour.

Once the Young Master lost his temper, the consequences were serious. Everyone up and down the Saxon Family would suffer with him, and it would take at least three or four days for his anger to slowly cool down.

After a moment’s hesitation, Matthew Saxon’s tightly knitted brows relaxed again. He glanced toward the window and said lightly, "Go out and take a look."

Olly had only just woken up, her brain running on low oxygen. She hadn’t yet processed what Matthew Saxon was saying. She stared blankly for a second and asked a bit foolishly, "Young Master, go out and look at what?"

Matthew Saxon froze for a beat, then glared at her, furious: "What do you think you’re going to look at?"

Olly was genuinely muddleheaded. Being startled like that made her brain even foggier. She stammered, "I...I don’t know."

There was plenty she could look at out there...

He wasn’t being clear—how was she supposed to know?

Matthew Saxon pressed his lips into a tight line and snapped, "Thick-headed. Did you come here without bringing your brain?"

"Young Master, what exactly do you want me to look at?" Olly was so close to tears from his scolding. She felt like she’d been cursed out for no reason at all, a little wronged and more than a little indignant.

Matthew Saxon stepped forward, covering the distance in a few strides. He rapped her on the forehead, hard: "Usually you seem pretty sharp. How come you’re this stupid today? Go check on that woman."

That woman...

She froze for a few seconds, and this time Olly finally caught on.

The Young Master wanted her to go check on the Young Madam.

"Young Master...do you want me to persuade the Young Madam to come back?" Olly hesitated for a moment, then asked softly.

Matthew Saxon pressed his lips together. After a long pause, he finally said, "I’m only asking you to go look in on her."

"Then...what about after I’ve seen her?"

He shot her a cold glare. His eyes were already icy, and now they were sharp as a blade.

Olly shuddered and quickly took a step back. "Young Master, I understand. I’ll go right away."

"What exactly do you understand?"

"I won’t let the Young Madam know it was you who sent me. Whatever I do, it has nothing to do with you, Young Master." At this moment, Olly suddenly got with the program.

Matthew Saxon pressed his lips together again, his long phoenix eyes narrowing slightly. A faintly unnatural look flickered in them. He didn’t admit it, but he didn’t deny it either.

In Olly’s eyes, that was as good as tacit approval.

So she felt even more at ease. "Young Master, I’ll be off then, okay?"

Matthew Saxon turned away and answered faintly, "Mm."

--

Knox Simmons’s car was flying down the road; forty minutes later, they were already near Saxon Mansion.

Since they were almost there, he wasn’t in a rush anymore. He eased off the gas, letting the car cruise steadily.

He dialed Scarlett Yates’s number.

The phone rang a few times before it connected, and a hoarse, faintly trembling voice came through. "Hello."

Knox Simmons couldn’t help freezing for a moment.

This voice...why did it sound like she was shaking from the cold?
