Chapter 1971 1971: Cap 1966: Damn, the Bearer of Chaos...
Pov Phoenix:
I was looking into the distance; the cracks appearing in space in that direction were abnormal. This artificial universe shouldn’t be so fragile.
“Lord, it seems one of the Entities has made its move, should we flee?” (Sadara)
“No, have you forgotten about the new Entity and the Chaos Bearer?” (me)
“But if the collapse continues…” (Sadara)
“Don’t worry, from the massive power fluctuations, it’s clear that there are many strong beings in that area; the Creatures of the Abyss can’t get through.” (me)
I look to the side; Sadara was my second in command. He was a Star Titan, capable of reaching the size of a galaxy using all his power, which unfortunately makes his Soul weaker. A purely physical race is too fragile among the higher beings who can easily inflict damage to Souls.
We could both feel the energy fluctuations; it was easy to feel the power of Hatred. She’s acting as always, squandering her power everywhere, but what matters to me are the secondary sources of energy fluctuation.
“(The powers of Law, Divinity, Pride, Variations of Life and Death… Chaos, 2 sources of Chaos…)” (me)
“That power… I understand, the Specter of Insanity…” (me)
“What!?” (Sadara)
“That thing is here!?” (Sadara)
Sadara’s body was trembling; many of his race were destroyed by this thing in the past, which is why so few remain. His fear is understandable.
“Don’t worry, with so many Entities present, even it won’t be able to accomplish anything significant.” (me)
I don’t know how this thing came to be here, but it doesn’t matter, as long as I don’t have to deal with it personally, my power isn’t suitable to face this repugnant thing. While I was thinking about this, suddenly one of the sources of Chaos’s power disappeared, not only that, the power of Hate also disappeared, just as the Universal Collapse was also being reversed.
“(They won…)” (me)
Many thoughts arose in my mind as I looked in that direction; a battle of this magnitude would leave many wounded and weakened. That horrible thing must also have been defeated by the Chaos Bearer, since the two have powers that relate to Chaos, this possibility was high since there was no way the Chaos Bearer could be defeated surrounded by his allies.
“Sadara, gather the others, I want you to begin the mental invasion ritual using the Dream Artifact we brought.” (me)
“Lord, the Dreamer’s Wing can only be used 3 more times.” (Sadara)
“It doesn’t matter, I will use it as many times as possible this time, now go!” (me)
“I will inform the others.” (Sadara)
There’s no way the Chaos Bearer is unharmed; he must be weakened, but he will still be surrounded by powerful allies, among them 5 or 6 Avatars and three Entities. He is safe even if I go to him.
I can’t attack him directly, but I can still attack him personally indirectly. If I destroy his mind and reach his Soul, I can force Paradox to appear.
“I won’t fall, no matter what happens!” (me)
I cannot fail, I will not perish, I will not disappear, those damned words of Reincarnation, no matter how many eras pass, I can’t stop thinking about them!
“(Do what you want, but when Paradox reaches you, there will be nothing left of you.)” (Reincarnation)
That smile he showed, he knew more than he was saying, but he only said that without revealing anything important to annoy me.
I researched Paradox everywhere I could find a clue, I kept an eye on the Chaos Bearers who died before I could even reach them, none of them able to keep the power of Chaos contained.
I thought I could continue like this, I heard how each of them was unable to contain that power, I thought that if everything continued like this, no Chaos Bearer would be able to resist long enough to unleash Paradox.
I searched for every single thing that was related to Paradox, I heard the stories about its power, I saw the remains of what was left wherever it passed, I even saw Artifacts containing its power from which I kept my distance.
I don’t think I can fight against that, it’s not a matter of power, with the Entities it’s never a matter of power, it all comes down to the Concept itself.
Paradox is an ancient aberration like Life, Death, and Reincarnation.
But it was worse, its lack of control was known to the point that it couldn’t even control itself, even other Entities kept their distance from it, I had no way to even fight against that.
Its power was something that created me, it was also something that could destroy me, I don’t understand how it imprisoned itself or why it chooses mortal beings to carry its power, honestly I don’t care about that, I just don’t want to be used by it, I don’t want to be a mere tool for it.
“(A creature bearing the power of Reincarnation without being linked to the Entity of Reincarnation, I’m not a fool Paradox, I may not know your plan, but my role in it was obvious…!)” (me)
The fury of knowing what they intend to do with me was so great that my flames burned the entire moon where I was resting, space trembled as if it were about to melt before my flames, but I regained control by absorbing all the fire again. “If I force you to appear and start losing control again, then the Primordial Entities would have to make a move to stop you…” (me)
My plan was never to destroy Paradox; from everything I’d learned about her, I knew it would be impossible. But fortunately, I realized that if I destroyed her Chaos Bearer and prevented her from finding another, thus forcing her to emerge from her seal, then her known loss of control would begin once again. The Entities of Life, Death, and Reincarnation would have to make a move, or perhaps the System itself would have to move to deal with her. That would be all I needed to do.
———————
Days later.
The creatures following me used their power to strengthen the ritual and shield my mind. Entering the Chaos Bearer’s mind was more than dangerous for me; doing so could put me directly in front of Paradox. That’s why I only used this method as a last resort.
Entering the Chaos Bearer’s mind, I planned to test him first. I provoked him by revealing my presence to see his reaction. I needed to be sure that the Ritual could protect me from him, which fortunately proved correct when his Will couldn’t affect me at all.
Even so, his reaction was very quick. He accepted that he couldn’t affect me and adapted immediately, taking control of his mind and hiding in a mental fortress space that forced my claws to appear.
I wanted to resolve this quickly when it happened, but he once again used a hand unknown to me. I felt him gathering the Divine and Law powers, which should be impossible, then fused them with his chaos in a technique he used on himself.
A world of nightmares was created, causing the ritual to vibrate, and I could feel 1/3 of the creatures maintaining the ritual fall. Before I could do anything, that thing appeared, a headless creature exuding a bizarre Dragon Aura. Its power hit me, and the world transformed.
The city that was once in ruins suddenly transformed with flames spreading everywhere, but they weren’t my flames. Meanwhile, my soul trembled when that thing appeared, a shadowy being, and yet its presence was so primordial within me that I recognized it purely by instinct.
A horrifying fear gripped my mind, making me fight against that thing in a stalemate for several minutes before I realized I was still in the mind of the Chaos Bearer.
The one I was facing wasn’t Paradox, it was just another one of the Chaos Bearer’s techniques, and with his death, this cursed thing would disappear.
As soon as I felt his eyes on me, I forced more power from the Ritual and, using that power, I broke the limits of this technique to reach him. I tried to ignore this thing chasing me, counting on the fact that if I could get rid of the Chaos Bearer, everything else should disappear.
I spread my flames, each one of them wasn’t just my power, they were me, a part of me. As soon as he lowered his guard, I would end it in a single movement, or so I thought.
His reactions are very fast; he didn’t seem to be afraid of me. He smiled at my attack, and in his hands, weapons that shimmered with great power appeared. I perceived the danger and moved away.
When he used a technique that my instincts screamed was dangerous, I forced the power of the ritual to the maximum to break an opening in his mind. I could feel almost all those maintaining the ritual fall because of it, but I managed to open a passage into which I threw myself.
I was mentally wounded, and yet that bastard continued his attack; his tentacles were chasing me, and that’s when I deactivated the ritual, causing the link between our minds to break along with these tentacles.
When I opened my eyes, I saw blood and uncontrolled energy in the surroundings; there were destroyed planets in the sky and flames everywhere around me. Sadara was by my side, one of her arms was horribly burned.
“What happened?” (Me)
“You lost control while you were sleeping, many were injured, the ritual was destroyed and the Artifact was destroyed along with it, almost all of our forces are in serious condition.” (Sadara)
“I understand…” (Me)
“(He can’t even control his power…?)”
“No… it can’t be…” (Me)
“What happened?” (Sadara)
“(You can’t escape me, I’m inside you, your destiny is to be my tool…)”
“(Shut your damn mouth!!)” (Me)
“I’m still under the effect of his technique!” (Me)
“Bring the Artifact of Corruption and the Amulet of Nature!” (Me)
“I will remember this, Bearer of Chaos…” (Me)
