Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 1124 143: Rescuing the Lynx

After the whole set of treatments, the lynx had reached its limit.

Once Chen Wen gently released the lynx, it fell into a deep sleep.

"This is just a simple treatment. Tomorrow, after the bleeding stops, we'll need to remove the cotton ball, apply medicine again, change the dressing, and when the wound stops bleeding, wrap it with gauze."

Hua Yun said: "We'll be busy for the next few days, and you'd better not let it leave the shelter. The cold weather outside could worsen its condition if it goes out."

Chen Wen nodded, expressing gratitude for Hua Yun's help.

Hua Yun waved her hand: "No need to say thank you with our relationship."

After seeing Hua Yun off, Chen Wen began to figure out how to make a sickbed, or a sick nest, for the lynx.

He went out to gather some pine needles to place on the ground and used the roe deer skin he had processed earlier as a bed sheet over the pine needles. Finally, Chen Wen layered a softer rabbit skin on top for the lynx.

Then, Chen Wen placed this nest not too far from the fireplace, at the spot most suitable for enjoying its warmth.

Before the lynx arrived, two Wolf Minks occupied this spot.

Finally, Chen Wen placed the lynx on this small sickbed, and then went out to get food for it.

He found some tasty Siberian roe deer, chopped off a leg with his axe, brought it into the shelter, and placed it near the bonfire to thaw.

After handling these tasks, sleepiness overcame Chen Wen.

Seeing the lynx was okay, Chen Wen leaned against his bed, tilting his head for a short nap.

About an hour later, Chen Wen awoke and immediately checked on the lynx.

The lynx had calmed down by now, and seeing its chest gently rise and fall, Chen Wen could finally rest assured and sleep for a while.

...

Morning.

Chen Wen was awakened by a peck from the Golden Eagle.

After getting up, he looked around and saw the animals gathered around the lynx, causing a moment of anxiety for Chen Wen.

He hurried over, thinking something was wrong with the lynx.

However, upon approaching, he saw the lynx was already awake.

"How do you feel now?"

Chen Wen asked anxiously.

The lynx was momentarily confused but soon responded softly: "I feel pretty good, thank you. I just heard from other friends about what you did before, thank you very much."

Chen Wen heard this and breathed a sigh of relief.

A relaxed expression appeared on his face: "It's alright, since you acknowledge me, then we're family, isn't it normal for family to help each other?"

Family...

The lynx showed a thoughtful expression on its face and nodded, saying: "I understand, but I'm still very grateful to you, and to all of you."

The other animals, seeing the lynx's grateful demeanor, were momentarily at a loss for words.

Fortunately, the Golden Eagle, as the elder brother, promptly stepped up: "No need to be polite, just like Chen Wen said, we all regard you as family. If there's anything you need, just let us know!"

Following the lead, the Wolf Mink King Kong chimed in: "Yes, just tell us what you want to eat, we'll help you catch it! Flying in the sky, swimming in the water, running on the ground—just speak up, we can bring it to you!"

Nearby, the Eagle and Snowy Owl both nodded approvingly.

Even the more timid Gourd said: "King Kong and I are good at water, if you really want to eat fish, we can dive to catch them."

Listening to the animals, the lynx felt a warm feeling inside. It didn't know how to describe this feeling, but it fully recognized these varied creatures who could converse with it.

Chen Wen watched this scene with delight.

The lynx had previously not fully accepted Chen Wen or his way of handling the animals.

It had maintained a solitary demeanor, with little desire to act alongside the animals, or even Chen Wen.

But now, it seemed the situation would change.

Chen Wen summarized: "Alright, just tell me what you want to eat. With all the food I've hunted, can't I support all of you?"

Upon hearing this, all the animals laughed.

Indeed, the game Chen Wen had hunted could completely satisfy the needs of all the creatures here.

"Get ready for a meal."

Chen Wen waved his hand: "I prepared this leg of roe deer last night, thawing it by the camp so you can eat it now."

Upon hearing this, the animals immediately became excited.

Chen Wen took out a dagger and began to cut the meat.

Due to the current special situation, the animals each ate a day's worth of food per meal. Chen Wen cut the meat into evenly sized pieces for the animals to choose from.

Chen Wen then helped cut strips of meat for the three birds of prey, making it easier for them to swallow.

As for the lynx and two Wolf Minks, they could swallow the food directly and didn't need Chen Wen's help.

Once Chen Wen divided the food, the animals began to feast eagerly.

Chen Wen also heated his stored food and ate heartily.

After breakfast, Hua Yun visited.

She checked the lynx's wound, then removed the cotton ball, applied medicine, and covered the wound with gauze.

The lynx was very grateful for Hua Yun's help.

Hua Yun could see the gratitude in the lynx's eyes, and after applying the medicine, she couldn't resist gently touching the lynx's body.

"Such a good animal."

Seeing the lynx didn't resist, Hua Yun couldn't help but say: "Sometimes I really envy you, Chen Wen. You always seem to encounter such intelligent animals."

Chen Wen smiled but didn't say much.

After seeing Hua Yun off, Chen Wen started playing some little games with the animals inside the shelter to pass the time.

...

Time flew by.

A few days later, the snowstorm subsided, and the camp saw the long-awaited sunshine.

Taking advantage of the good weather, everyone cleared the snow from the camp and assessed the damages caused by the snowstorm in the past few days.

However, upon assessment, they were surprised to find that apart from Fred's shelter suffering damage, only a small amount of food placed outdoors was lost.

This food was blown away by the wind, consisting of very light items.

Such losses were totally acceptable, even negligible.

After assessing damage, everyone started to help Fred repair the shelter.

Roland and Chen Wen discussed using a more formal method to help Fred rebuild the shelter.

The two of them gathered some clay again, and began repairing the wall using stones, new clay, and the materials from the collapsed wall.

Chen Wen used boiling water to mix the clay, blending it with the previous wall materials.

Then, while these materials hadn't solidified, they quickly helped Fred build the wall.

When Chen Wen and Roland had nearly completed the wall, given the low temperature and strong wind, the bottom of the wall had completely frozen.

"This method of repair will definitely be fine during winter."

Roland advised Fred: "But be careful when the temperature rises."

Fred nodded, indicating he would take note.

However, Chen Wen, being carefree, said: "No need to worry so much, your shelter won't have issues even until we leave, the temperature will remain tens of degrees below zero, sleep comfortably at night."

Roland thought about it and agreed.

They would likely depart towards the end of winter, when temperatures would definitely be around twenty degrees below zero.

So, it wasn't a big issue.

With the completion of Fred's shelter repair, it signified they had overcome the final challenge of survival this time.
