Wilderness Survival with Druid System
Chapter 1114: Training
Chapter 1114: Chapter 133: Training
Wuwu is over here.
Seeing Chen Wen arrive, it is still very happy.
Chen Wen walked over to Wuwu and spoke of today’s training task: “Today’s task is to determine the wind direction.”
Wind direction?
Wuwu gave a very confused look.
Just as Chen Wen was thinking about how to explain the wind direction.
Beside Wuwu’s nest, a sudden voice came: “Wind is like the sound of wuwu, and wind direction is their movement path.”
Upon hearing this, Chen Wen looked in the direction of the voice.
A snow-white lynx slowly walked out of the snow, it was the White Lynx that had gone out to hunt.
Chen Wen glanced at White Lynx’s belly, it was bulging, indicating a successful hunt.
White Lynx leisurely walked nearby and said to Chen Wen: “Are you teaching it to hunt?”
Chen Wen nodded and then cheerfully said, “You have come at the right time. What I’m teaching may be somewhat different from what you hunters use, so it’s good you’re here to see if what I say is appropriate.”
Upon hearing this, Lynx nodded: “Alright, I’m free anyway.”
It lay down next to them, watching Wuwu and Chen Wen silently.
Meanwhile, Chen Wen continued: “Let’s go on, humans have many methods to determine wind direction.”
As he spoke, he brushed the snow with his hand and grabbed some dust.
After rubbing the dust, Chen Wen stood up and slowly let the dust fall from between his fingers.
“This is one of the methods. We determine the wind direction by the direction the dust floats away. Of course, it’s not necessary to use dust, anything light can be used, leaves, dry grass, any of these things will do.”
Chen Wen spoke, looking at Wuwu: “Try this method and see if it works.”
Wuwu nodded.
It mimicked Chen Wen’s actions, using its paw to grab soil, but an animal’s paw is certainly not as nimble as a human hand.
After expending a lot of effort, Wuwu could not pick up anything.
Chen Wen watched cheerfully from the side without speaking, seemingly having anticipated this.
This left the observing lynx confused.
What is Chen Wen doing?
Wasting time?
Lynx was about to speak when Chen Wen stopped Lynx with a raised hand.
After many attempts and not getting any results, Wuwu started to think.
It no longer tried to grab soil but instead looked around for a while before climbing a relatively thick pine tree.
After climbing the tree, Wuwu used its teeth to bite off some pine needles, then spat the pine needles out of its mouth.
The pine needles fell from Wuwu’s mouth, rustling onto the ground.
Strictly speaking, some of the falling pine needles did float a distance with the wind, but most of them fell straight to the ground after being soaked with Wuwu’s saliva.
Wuwu looked at Chen Wen, with anticipation in its eyes.
Chen Wen said expressionlessly: “The idea is good, but did you notice? This method makes the judgment very rough, with a low accuracy rate.”
Wuwu’s gaze dimmed.
But Chen Wen continued: “Although you didn’t learn to judge wind direction, you did learn something very important.”
Saying this, Chen Wen paused.
Wuwu once again looked at Chen Wen expectantly.
Chen Wen smiled: “And that is to think!”
“Unlike most animals, you are special. You possess an ability that other animals can’t have, which is to think, along with my memory and experience. So, although your hunting must follow hunting techniques, you can completely rely on thinking and experience to adapt and become more efficient!”
At this, the lynx beside them is no longer lazy.
It seems to realize some issues as well and looks at Chen Wen seriously.
Then Chen Wen formally starts his lesson—teaching two top predators how to hunt.
…
By the end of the morning, Chen Wen successfully taught Wuwu to discern wind direction.
In the end, Wuwu learned to judge wind direction by the movement of branches and leaves and the direction of its own fur fluttering. Of course, it’s also slowly learning other methods.
Learning to discern wind direction means it can basically hide its scent—approach prey from a downwind direction.
Afterwards, when Chen Wen returned, he made Wuwu and Lynx practice against each other.
Which involves them hiding from each other using scent alone to find each other.
Leaving Wuwu’s area and returning to the camp.
Chen Wen noticed that the camp had gained quite a few more prey, and two people.
Fred and Roland have returned!
Of course, they are accompanied by Eagle!
Eagle enthusiastically pounced on Chen Wen, and Chen Wen hurriedly extended his arm, using thick clothes to cushion against Eagle’s claws.
“Welcome back.”
Chen Wen said, looking at Fred and Roland, still speaking words for both of them and an eagle to hear.
Roland nodded, silently watching the mountain of food piled up on Chen Wen’s side.
Fred then warmly gave Chen Wen a bear hug.
He sat by the campfire, starting to tell Chen Wen about the hunting events of the past few days.
After the two left the camp, they hunted in another direction, discovering groups of wild boars, moose, and Siberian Roe Deer.
However, they did not kill any Moose, which made Fred somewhat regretful.
Chen Wen comforted him with a few words.
Roland sighed, saying: “You don’t know until you compare, the difference is shocking. Compared to you and Hua Yun, our harvest really isn’t worth mentioning!”
Chen Wen shook his head and said, “You can’t say that, the reason we caught so much prey is partly due to good luck, and partly because our area near the lake is inherently rich in animal resources.”
This was Chen Wen’s humble remark, which Roland naturally didn’t take seriously, but he quickly adjusted his mindset.
On the contrary, he asked about Chen Wen’s hunting.
Chen Wen also picked up a few interesting things from this period and talked about them.
Hearing about Chen Wen’s hunting activities, and that they brought back a Northeast Tiger and Lynx, Roland and Fred both showed bewildered expressions.
What?
What is this guy talking about?
He went out once, not only got so many prey but also brought back a Northeast Tiger and Lynx?
“Did you go to the wild animal trading black market for stock?”
Roland couldn’t help but say.
Chen Wen chuckled.
Fred then marveled, saying: “Looks like we don’t have to worry about food at all, even with your two animals, we can pair them with staple food and have enough meat to feed them.”
Upon hearing this, Chen Wen said with a smile: “There’s no need, these two animals will find their own food, we mainly need to feed ourselves and the animals brought here.”
As everyone talked, Chen Wen and Hua Yun also began preparing lunch.
When Gaston and Adam returned with the processed moose, the team reunited once again, celebrating this survival achievement.
Of course, it’s an early celebration, popularly known as a halftime champagne party.
