Wilderness Survival with Druid System
Chapter 1110: Camp Chores
Chapter 1110: Chapter 129: Camp Chores
As for the bizarre names King Kong came up with, Chen Wen didn’t comment much.
As long as the two guys liked them themselves, it was fine.
After settling the matter of the Wolf Mink, Chen Wen asked about the Snowy Owl again.
The Golden Eagle flapped its wings with a rustle and went to look for the Snowy Owl.
Not long after, the Snowy Owl came over as well.
It looked at Chen Wen, and in its originally somewhat tired expression there appeared a trace of excitement.
Chen Wen patted the Snowy Owl’s body and said, “For this next stretch of time, you can adjust your schedule back to normal. We’ve got two new friends around the camp now, they can help us keep watch on the surroundings.”
After speaking, Chen Wen paused, then said again, “It’s been a long time—thank you for your hard work!”
The Snowy Owl flapped its wings and said, “It’s nothing, as long as I can help!”
Chatting with a few animals, before long, the Northeast Tiger found its way to the camp.
It poked its head around outside the camp, peeking this way. Seeing this, Chen Wen immediately had the Golden Eagle bring the Northeast Tiger over.
Once the Northeast Tiger came over, Chen Wen introduced it to the other animals.
The Snowy Owl sized up the Northeast Tiger, feeling a bit curious, and also a bit wary.
The sense of oppression this guy brought was truly way too strong.
But fortunately, with the Golden Eagle around—being, beyond all doubt, a social butterfly—it quickly lightened up the atmosphere at the camp.
Only after the animals had gotten familiar with one another did Chen Wen lazily say, “Get to know each other, and from now on get along well. Besides you few around the camp, there’s also the lynx and the Eagle. They’re not back yet—when they come back I’ll introduce you.”
“Also, if it’s nothing important—like going hunting or going out to play, things like that—you don’t need to report to me. Just tell the Golden Eagle; it’s more familiar with the situation.”
Hearing this, the Golden Eagle immediately realized what was up with Chen Wen.
It couldn’t help saying, “You’re not planning to go back to how things were last time, are you? I heard about it from the Eagle!”
“Last time” referred to when he had been living alone in the wild.
Back then, after finishing his work, Chen Wen chose to spend the rest of the survival period in a leisurely way.
Obviously, Chen Wen had once again switched back to that mode.
Listening to the Golden Eagle, Chen Wen shook his head and said, a bit helplessly, “I’ve already finished all the work. We’ve stored up this much food—the six of us humans have enough, and you meat-eaters basically have enough too. If you don’t want to eat frozen meat or cooked meat, you can go hunt for yourselves. So, all in all, I’ve completed all the tasks for this survival round. I want to rest a bit—perfectly reasonable, right?”
This made the Golden Eagle sigh helplessly.
Once Chen Wen’s lazy streak kicked in, there really was nothing to be done.
But what Chen Wen said wasn’t wrong; he really could enter “idle mode” now.
…
Chen Wen had the Golden Eagle and the others watch the camp, while he followed the Northeast Tiger, Wuwu, to the den it had found.
After a rough look around, Chen Wen felt there was nothing wrong with the place.
It wasn’t far from their camp; if it ran into some dangerous situation, Wuwu could come straight to them for help.
As for water and hunting, there was no need to say more—both were exceptionally convenient.
Chen Wen helped Wuwu place the special phone Mira had given near Wuwu’s den so they could see it in time from over there.
Wuwu curiously examined this black thing, but Chen Wen didn’t explain much.
This way, they could also avoid that little girl Mira noticing anything off.
Once Wuwu was settled, Chen Wen started thinking about how to give Wuwu some special training.
After thinking it over, he took Wuwu to a spot a bit farther from the phone, then said, “This afternoon, the Golden Eagle and the others are going out hunting, mainly for pikas. Do you want to go with them?”
Wuwu tilted its head, looking adorably blank. “I can go too?”
“Go. Watch how the hunt works, and learn from King Kong and Hulu a bit. Their hunting techniques might give you some inspiration.”
As he spoke, Chen Wen was already drafting a rehab plan for Wuwu in his heart.
He felt that for Wuwu to survive out in the wild, it only needed to meet three requirements.
One was being able to hunt on its own; another was being able to identify plants and animals that posed a threat; and the last was learning to read information from the weather.
Wild animals are different from humans.
For humans to survive, the four basic elements are water, fire, food, and shelter.
For wild animals, they only need water, food, and shelter.
Some animals don’t even need shelter.
After thinking it over and feeling there was nothing else to add, Chen Wen simply patted Wuwu’s head. “If there are people around here, don’t rush up to them. Other than me, the others might get scared by you, so pay attention to that. The rest is nothing. When the Golden Eagle and the others set off, they’ll come call you.”
After giving Wuwu his instructions, Chen Wen headed back.
When he got back to camp, Hua Yun had, at some point, returned as well.
Seeing that Chen Wen was fine, she didn’t ask much. Around noon, Chen Wen and Hua Yun started preparing lunch, and not long after, Adam and Gaston came back too.
Looking at the steaming-hot lunch, the two who had been busy all morning felt relieved.
Their work hadn’t been in vain.
The four of them gathered, eating roasted Siberian Roe Deer and boiled rice porridge—a very rare scene indeed.
As they ate, Chen Wen chatted with the others.
He listened as Hua Yun talked about Lee Min-jun’s team. When he learned that Cha hadn’t stayed, Chen Wen didn’t comment.
Adam, on the side, talked about how things were at the camp.
Aside from the two Wolf Mink eating a bit too much, there was basically nothing unusual.
Hearing this, Chen Wen couldn’t help glaring at King Kong.
King Kong, who had been dozing with eyes half closed, suddenly shuddered. It darted a shifty glance around, then called Hulu and slipped away.
It just felt like the air here was thick with killing intent.
That’s what King Kong thought.
Gaston then brought up fishing.
His luck had good days and bad days, of course.
These past few days Gaston had caught very few fish; often he didn’t bring back a single one the whole day.
This made Gaston want to open up some new fishing spots.
Chen Wen thought about it and felt they could give it a try. After all, if you fished too much in one area, the total number of fish there would definitely drop.
In addition, Gaston mentioned something fairly odd.
“The day before yesterday, around noon, I think,”
Gaston drank his rice porridge and said lazily, “I noticed it looked like there was a seal moving around near us.”
A seal?
The name piqued Chen Wen’s interest.
It wasn’t that he wanted to hunt seals; he just hadn’t expected seals to show up near the lakeshore.
Although Baikal seals live throughout the vast expanse of Lake Baikal, they don’t often come close to shore. Most of the time, they’re on islands in the lake or underwater.
This abnormal Baikal seal felt a bit suspicious!
