Wilderness Survival with Druid System
Chapter 1108 - 127: Chen Wen’s Return
In the camp.
Adam was handling the prey brought back by Hua Yun and Chen Wen, skinning the animals so Gaston could deal with the entrails.
And just at that moment.
Adam heard the cry of the wolf mink, raising his head curiously to look in the direction of the sound.
Does it seem like someone is coming?
The wolf mink’s cry was strange; it hadn’t sounded like this before.
But just then, two wolf minks crouching idly around the camp suddenly darted out, rushing toward the lakeside.
This scene left Adam a bit surprised.
He couldn’t help but take a breath, murmuring to himself: "Who has arrived to trigger such a reaction from the wolf minks?"
Just as he said this, Adam realized who it might be.
He stood up, and soon, Chen Wen returned, carrying something on his back.
"Chen Wen!"
Adam put down the knife in his hand, wiping the blood on the elk’s fur.
He quickly approached Chen Wen, eyeing the items he carried and the group of people behind him.
"Is that... Arseny and the others? Why are you all returning together?"
Adam couldn’t help but ask.
But Chen Wen waved: "It’s a long story."
How familiar this feeling is...
Adam slightly shook his head, choosing not to ask further, and instead examined the items Chen Wen brought back.
Still mostly staple grains and canned goods, and even quite a bit of vegetables.
This...
Adam couldn’t help but say: "What kind of help did you give them for them to bring so many supplies?"
Chen Wen nodded: "It was... quite significant assistance, possibly involving hundreds of thousands of US dollars."
Upon hearing this, Adam gasped.
He was now very curious about what Chen Wen had been up to during this period.
Yet Chen Wen didn’t seem inclined to explain.
After Arseny and the others left the supplies, Chen Wen invited them to rest.
But Arseny shook his head: "No, we need to hurry back too, there are some matters to deal with over there, and also..."
Arseny glanced at the two men in black who had followed, sent by Mira.
One of them handed a black box to Chen Wen, saying: "Miss asked us to give this to you."
Chen Wen accepted the box, opened it for a look, and was taken aback.
Inside the box was something akin to a phone, or more precisely, a phone, but rather bulky.
Chen Wen asked: "This is..."
"It’s a specially designed phone, no need for charging, but it requires battery replacement."
The man in black said calmly: "From time to time, we’ll come to help you change the battery, and the purpose of this phone is to record Wuwu’s activities, maintaining constant contact with Miss."
Observing for a while, Chen Wen understood: "This is a one-on-one live streaming phone, correct?"
The man in black thought for a moment, nodding: "If you choose to describe it that way, then yes, it is."
Seems like the young lady is still uneasy, hence she supplied this device.
Chen Wen didn’t say much more but asked about its operation method before turning it on.
This thing is one-way, meaning the young lady can see and hear this side’s situation from home, but this side cannot see or hear hers.
Chen Wen received the device and decided to place it and Wuwu at a distance from the camp.
Thus it wouldn’t interfere with their survival.
After delivering the device, the men in black left with Arseny and the others.
Once they departed.
Adam immediately approached Chen Wen, strongly urging him to tell about the events during his absence and the situation with the Northeast Tiger.
Chen Wen said: "Don’t rush, let me first store these things in the camp, and also take care of this guy, otherwise having it here in the camp might be unbearable for you all."
No problems with that statement.
Just looking at the Northeast Tiger left Adam somewhat restless.
Under Adam’s watchful eyes, Chen Wen directly opened the cage, making Adam instinctively step back.
But when he saw the Northeast Tiger obediently following Chen Wen, Adam couldn’t help but take a sharp breath, had Chen Wen tamed the Northeast Tiger?
A few days without seeing him, and Chen Wen got even more formidable!
...
Chen Wen continued into the depths of the woods with the Northeast Tiger.
Though this location was some distance from their main base, it wasn’t too far; Chen Wen could still hear any commotion from here.
He temporarily turned off the special phone’s audio given by the young lady, then said: "How does this place feel to you? Find a suitable spot; this area will be your future home."
Wuwu assessed the surroundings, thrilled to return to nature.
"Home... What kind of home would be considered good?"
Wuwu briefly scanned the area, puzzled, searching for Chen Wen.
After thinking, Chen Wen said: "Considering your current situation, a safe place with ample food is a home."
"For safety, this area fits well as I killed the most ferocious predator here—a large brown bear."
He continued: "However, regarding food, this area’s resources aren’t rich; you’ll need to hunt in far-off places to be full—though this is temporary, once migrations begin from the north, you’ll have plenty of food."
Wuwu nodded, seemingly understanding.
It asked again: "Can’t I eat with you all?"
Chen Wen neither agreed nor disagreed: "To survive independently in the wild, relying on others for feeding merely substitutes a bigger cage; you need to learn self-reliance."
This time Wuwu understood.
After contemplating its situation, it said: "Ok, I’ll attempt to hunt on my own!"
Seeing Wuwu’s resolve, Chen Wen nodded approvingly.
It seemed this creature yearned for the wild, seeking freedom, even resisting the lure of guaranteed sustenance.
He almost spoke, when suddenly, Wuwu displayed vigilance.
It glared at a distant thicket, growling with authority: "Who are you, hiding there?"
Chen Wen froze, spotting a snow-white lynx emerging.
"Relax, it’s your friend, like the Golden Eagle."
Chen Wen raised a hand to soothe Wuwu while eyeing the lynx: "Don’t act impulsively, it’s like you, another special animal."
With open communication, the lynx understood Wuwu’s language’s meaning.
It glanced at Wuwu, then addressed Chen Wen: "So this is the creature you mentioned? Seems rather dull."
Wuwu was annoyed overhearing this; who are you calling dumb?
The lynx ignored it, scrutinizing Wuwu: "This creature seems all size with no capability like those tough animals."
Curious, Chen Wen inquired: "How can you tell?"
Decisively, it strode forward: "Its perception is dull; I was nearly within striking distance before it reacted, and you’re equally dull."
Chen Wen was speechless.
He had focused on Wuwu, overlooking surroundings, plus human perception pales before top tier predators.
Though if the lynx harbored hostility, Chen Wen could sense it.
