Wilderness Survival with Druid System
Chapter 1105: Performance
Chapter 1105: Chapter 124: Performance
“Why did it become like this?”
Mira looked at Wuwu, her eyes full of sorrow. “When it used to be with me, it loved my touch the most. Every time I petted it, it would rest its head on my knee, rub against my chest. It has never been like this before.”
Hearing that, Chen Wen glanced at Wuwu. So this guy was a horny tiger.
“Ahem.”
Chen Wen cleared his throat and said seriously, “The reasons behind this are quite complicated. I may not be a certified Beast Tamer, but I’m very good at dealing with animals. If you trust me, let’s find a quiet place and talk about this Northeast Tiger’s situation.”
Mira hesitated a little at these words.
She did more or less trust that Chen Wen wouldn’t harm Wuwu, but as for Chen Wen’s ability…
At this moment, Arseny stepped in to help.
Arseny slowly took out his camera, handed it to the man in sunglasses, and let Mira take a look. “The lynx and the Golden Eagle in these photos are all Mr. Chen’s Beast Taming subjects. That Golden Eagle was even tamed by Mr. Chen just a few days ago.”
At this, the man in sunglasses’ expression shifted slightly.
He seemed to remember something and said from the side, “Mr. Chen? You’re Chen Wen?”
Chen Wen looked at the man in sunglasses in surprise and said, “You know me?”
The man in sunglasses nodded slightly, then said a few words to Mira beside him, and now Mira had no objections.
Arseny, seizing the moment, invited everyone to his club to talk.
…
They arrived at Arseny’s club, which was also the biggest bar in town.
Chen Wen was quite curious.
Arseny brought out some drinks and set them in front of everyone, but Mira and the others had absolutely no mood to drink.
Because after entering the town, at Chen Wen’s suggestion, the Northeast Tiger Wuwu began to show strong uneasiness.
It kept looking around, as if there was something terrifying lurking nearby.
This uneasiness pained Mira greatly.
Chen Wen got some raw meat from Arseny, fed it to Wuwu, and soothed it as he did so, finally calming Wuwu down.
In fact, this was the plan Chen Wen had worked out with Wuwu beforehand.
Wuwu ate while secretly glancing at Mira.
Watching this scene from the side, Chen Wen also felt a bit emotional.
Wuwu probably still acknowledged Mira quite a bit, but like he’d said before, wild beasts can accept humans as friends, yet they don’t like being kept in captivity as human pets.
Especially a guy like Wuwu, who still had a certain wildness in him; it was even harder for him to get along with humans.
Chen Wen took a sip of hot tea and opened the conversation. “Actually, when I ran into this guy in the wild, I already felt that something was off. I noticed he was very wary of humans, yet highly adapted to the wild environment. So I figured this Northeast Tiger probably wasn’t tamed from a young age. Most likely he was captured and tamed by humans when he was already an adult, or at least a young adult.”
At these words, Mira looked at Chen Wen in some surprise, but the man in sunglasses said, “We already told Arseny about all this before.”
The implication being: don’t try to bluff us with that.
Chen Wen smiled and continued, “From what I can see, you’re quite well-off. You probably provided Wuwu with a pretty good environment and good food. But I don’t know if you ever noticed that, back at your place, Wuwu would often stay outdoors, staring at the distant forest, right?”
This time, the man in sunglasses frowned.
He knew about this, and he was certain no one had mentioned it to Chen Wen.
Chen Wen went on, “That’s because before he was tamed, he’d already formed a deep impression of the forest. He knows very clearly that his home is in the forest, while humans are the creatures blocking him from going home.”
“In that situation, after being tamed by a Beast Tamer, he developed an immense fear of humans and human environments. That’s the fundamental reason he ran away. And this time, being abused by that group of Hunters has only intensified that fear.”
There was some truth and some fabrication in what Chen Wen said.
But to Mira and the others, it sounded extremely accurate.
After all, what Chen Wen described matched Wuwu’s behavior perfectly.
Mira hesitated for a moment, then asked, “Can it be corrected?”
Hearing this, Chen Wen sighed. “I’m not too sure. He’s already formed fixed perceptions. For an adult beast like this, those perceptions are very hard to change.”
Mira’s eyes turned red at that.
Her voice caught slightly. “Before, my relationship with him was so good, but this time it’s just…”
The man in sunglasses comforted Mira a couple of times, then looked over at Chen Wen.
To be honest, he felt there was something off about Chen Wen, but he couldn’t tell what exactly, so he could only let Chen Wen keep talking.
Meanwhile, when Wuwu saw Mira starting to sob, it seemed to remember something. Its body stood up of its own accord as it raised its head to look over here.
Chen Wen couldn’t exactly stop Wuwu, so he quickly said, “Anyway, miss, I can try to repair the relationship between you and Wuwu, to make him acknowledge you again. You’ve seen it yourself—he’s still Friendly toward you. But getting him to return to a human environment will be very difficult.”
Before Mira could speak, the man in sunglasses interjected, “What if we had a Beast Tamer retrain him?”
Chen Wen glanced at Mira, but Mira directly said, “No, don’t let any Beast Tamer get involved again. I don’t want Wuwu to suffer!”
That basically shut down all of the man in sunglasses’ options, and he fell silent.
Seeing this, Chen Wen advanced by retreating, speaking up on the man’s behalf. “Personally, I don’t really recommend that you go to a Beast Tamer. Their methods are quite cruel, and I personally find them hard to accept. But if you want to forcibly change his perceptions, a Beast Tamer might indeed be able to do it.”
Although he was helping the man in sunglasses by saying this, the man’s face still darkened.
Because he knew all too well what kind of person his young lady was.
Sure enough.
Mira shook her head decisively. “No! I won’t let Wuwu have any contact with any Beast Tamer ever again!”
After speaking, Mira looked at Chen Wen, her reddened eyes carrying determination. “I have another idea now. Let’s send him back to where he used to live. That’s his real home. Only then can he be happy!”
As she said this, Mira seemed unable to hold back her grief. While she spoke, tears began to stream down her cheeks.
Seeing this, Chen Wen was genuinely moved.
Mira’s feelings for Wuwu were sincere.
At this moment, Wuwu seemed to sense something as well.
It let out a low call toward Mira. To outsiders, it was just Wuwu’s roar, but in that roar was sorrow.
Chen Wen glanced at Wuwu. He could understand Wuwu’s words—Wuwu was comforting Mira.
Mira turned toward the sound and looked at Wuwu.
She really wanted to go over to him, but seemed afraid she’d waver.
So Mira steeled herself, gritted her teeth. “I’m leaving first!”
Just then, Chen Wen said, “Wait a moment. It’s not like there’s no way to have the best of both worlds.”
At those words, everyone in the room turned their eyes to Chen Wen.
Mira hadn’t expected there to be a turning point.
She immediately asked, “You mean…”
Chen Wen nodded. “I have a plan that could let Wuwu live freely in the wild, while you can still visit him from time to time and play with him. Of course, this plan might be a bit expensive.”
Hearing Chen Wen’s description, Mira immediately made up her mind. “Tell me! What plan? Money is not a problem!”
