Chapter 1089: Chapter 108: Other Survivors

When Hua Yun arrived on the tree.

The Golden Eagle flapped its wings and took flight.

From Hua Yun’s behavior, it vaguely felt that there seemed to be something wrong with the herd of moose.

Therefore, it intended to check out the situation over on the moose side.

The Golden Eagle had already observed the moose herd, and there was nothing wrong.

Thus, it made the same judgment as Hua Yun, perhaps the issue was behind the moose herd!

With this thought, the Golden Eagle immediately flew over the path the moose were coming from.

After flying for about several dozen minutes, almost close to an hour.

The Golden Eagle suddenly saw something unusual in the forest.

There seemed to be some figures moving through the forest, and they didn’t look like small animals!

It flew lower and discovered that these moving figures were another group of humans!

And they were survivors, just like Chen Wen!

The Golden Eagle was very sure that this group of people were survivors.

Because they looked very similar to Chen Wen now, all of them were unkempt with beards, dirty, and carrying various weapons and burdens.

Could this be another team of survivors?

But how did they get here?

Were they possibly pursuing the moose?

The Golden Eagle speculated about the purpose of this group of people. To be honest, it felt that their possibility of tracking the moose was quite high.

After all, if they headed towards the moose, it would take about a morning’s journey to get there.

Spending a morning to track prey is rather worthwhile.

The Golden Eagle thought about it and decided not to rashly approach this group of people. It knew very well that there were quite a few humans friendly to animals, but it couldn’t bet that every human encountered was friendly.

So, the Golden Eagle planned to inform Chen Wen about this and let Chen Wen make the decision.

…

When the Golden Eagle flew back, Hua Yun was nowhere to be seen.

It looked around and, not seeing Hua Yun, simply flew directly back to the campsite.

When the Golden Eagle returned, it saw that Hua Yun was already at the campsite helping Chen Wen with the game.

The Golden Eagle landed on the ground.

Hua Yun glanced at the Golden Eagle and casually fed it a piece of elk meat before continuing to focus on her own tasks.

Chen Wen, however, came over and took the Golden Eagle to a spot away from the campsite.

“What’s up? I heard from Hua Yun that you flew away for a while, did you discover something?”

Chen Wen asked.

Upon hearing Hua Yun mention not waiting for the Golden Eagle, he realized the Golden Eagle might have discovered something and left Hua Yun.

The Golden Eagle nodded, and Chen Wen displayed an expression of ‘as expected.’

The Golden Eagle said, “The specific discovery is that I saw a group of people! They are survivors just like you!”

Survivors?

Chen Wen furrowed his brow. During this time, he really didn’t want to encounter other survivors.

With the impending snow and the mountains closing, survivors without sufficient food would enter a highly anxious state.

If they were to see the situation here, or even Chen Wen’s game.

In a food-scarce situation, they would definitely be tempted!

Moreover, taking out Chen Wen wouldn’t just solve the food issue for this survival period considerably, it would also offer substantial external rewards and bounties, as well as enough prestige.

After the Desolate Extreme Challenge and the Forest Extreme Challenge, Chen Wen’s title as the strongest young generation survivor was well-established.

Taking out Chen Wen meant gaining fame and fortune.

This saying had already spread among many young survivors, and quite a few young survivors were a bit envious of Chen Wen.

“How many people are there?”

Chen Wen thought for a moment and asked.

The Golden Eagle shook its head, “Not many, I only saw five people.”

Five people, could they be chasing some prey?

Chen Wen immediately recalled what Hua Yun had said about the moose.

She had mentioned that the herd of moose seemed hurriedly on the move, as if something was chasing them, which reminded Chen Wen of this group of people.

“Not far away, it’s about a morning’s walk if you’re on foot.”

The Golden Eagle seemed to know what Chen Wen was thinking and immediately shared its speculation: “They also carry hunting weapons similar to yours, it seems they are chasing the moose.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Wen instantly felt reassured.

This group might indeed be pursuing the moose and had chased them from the north to this spot.

To be fair, Chen Wen felt the leader of this group wasn’t very competent.

In this environment, in this weather, leading a team so far to hunt moose is quite a risky move.

They might be thinking that having chased this far, with such a large herd of moose, it would be a waste to give up now.

But for survival, especially for survival endeavors like these challenges.

Sunk cost shouldn’t play a role in major decisions!

One must learn to cut losses in time, or else losses will only worsen!

Chen Wen thought about it and, besides underestimating them, had some other ideas.

Given this group’s low competence, should he find a way to ambush them once?

But on second thought, it’s better to avoid unnecessary trouble.

Their team didn’t lack anything now, securing survival this time was paramount.

With these thoughts in mind, Chen Wen returned to the campsite and shared the current situation with Hua Yun.

However, he shared a filtered version and didn’t disclose everything.

Upon hearing that there might be other survivors approaching, Hua Yun had a similar thought to Chen Wen.

“This group is a bit rash.”

Hua Yun shook her head, saying, “If the mountains do get snowed in, it’ll be very hard for them to get back. We’re not too far from the campsite and can travel along the lakeside, but they have several days’ journey from the initial landing spot and can’t walk by the lakeside. I remember the survival spot for the group north of us is mid-forest.”

Chen Wen nodded, “That’s the case, but we shouldn’t concern ourselves with their gains and losses, they’re not our concern. I’m thinking we should conclude this hunting session and head back.”

Considering the current situation, Hua Yun agreed, “We should head back. The weather and this group are already affecting our hunting plans, let’s go.”

Once they decided on the general direction to return, they began preparing a detailed plan.

Returning to the main campsite wasn’t simply a matter of saying so, sufficient preparations were needed.

And given they had a substantial amount of food, not planning properly could lead to problems on the way back!

Chen Wen said, “First, return to where we hunted the moose earlier, check the total weight of the food, as we definitely can’t move it all by ourselves; then we’ll have the Golden Eagle summon others for help, one or maybe two.”

Hearing this, Hua Yun nodded.

They indeed needed more people, as they had caught too much game by now.

However, the effort was worth it.

This hunt had completely alleviated their food worries.

For the upcoming Forest Extreme Challenge, as long as they occasionally ice fish and find opportunities to hunt some prey near the campsite, they could easily complete the challenge.

No pressure over food whatsoever.

But before heading back…

Hua Yun looked at the lynx, which was now awake, and pointed at it: “What do you plan to do with this guy? Just bring it back tied up like this?”

Chen Wen glanced at the lynx and walked over to it.

The lynx saw Chen Wen approaching and, though somewhat nervous, was no longer aggressive or hissing.

The effort to build rapport was showing results.

Chen Wen nodded, reached out, and tried to gently stroke the lynx’s body.

Although the lynx’s muscles tensed, it still didn’t hiss.

This sight widened Hua Yun’s eyes.

What exactly happened in just one morning!
