Wilderness Survival with Druid System
Chapter 1049 - 68: Trap Harvest
After knowing Chen Wen and the others’ departure route, Arseny and his group got what they wanted and had a meal at the camp, tasting some fresh fish soup.
However, during the night, they did not stay at the camp but agreed with Adam and the others on the next trade time, which would be in fifteen days.
By that time, Chen Wen and the others should have completed their hunt, and Arseny, having regrouped, believed they would have completed their commission by then.
Once Arseny and his team left.
Gaston said, "Do you think they’ll go looking for Chen Wen?"
"Hard to say."
Adam shook his head, sensing the probability of them seeking Chen Wen was low, especially since they themselves were equipped with drones for reconnaissance.
Compared to Chen Wen’s animals, most people would surely feel drones are more reliable.
Yet, Adam was well aware that Chen Wen’s animals were indeed the most reliable; they even knew the Northeast Tiger’s activity region!
Speaking of which, would Chen Wen and the others’ direction this time overlap with that Northeast Tiger’s activity area?
Adam shook his head and stopped thinking about it.
...
Late at night.
Chen Wen was at the camp, half-closing his eyes, activating the Shared Vision.
Ever since Hua Yun went out to monitor the wild boars’ activities, Chen Wen had been continuously watching the situation through the Golden Eagle’s vision.
Things were proceeding smoothly with no unexpected situations in between.
The wild boars started foraging at dusk, moving in the direction of Hua Yun’s trap setups.
But on their way there, the wild boars didn’t step into any traps.
On their return, although Hua Yun didn’t see the process, she observed that after the wild boars returned to their nest, their number had reduced by one.
This made her very excited.
But she didn’t check her traps’ status; instead, she quietly left the wild boar’s nest and returned to the camp.
However, Chen Wen, relying on the Golden Eagle’s vision, glanced at the situation.
Indeed, one wild boar was caught in the traps.
It could be said that so far, Hua Yun’s plan was quite successful.
And when Hua Yun returned, her face beamed with excitement.
Hua Yun shared the situation she witnessed with Chen Wen, and the two discussed the next day’s hunting plan, after which they took turns for night watch, getting through the first night of hunting expedition.
...
Early next morning.
The two casually ate something and began their separate actions.
Hua Yun went to check the traps, while Chen Wen decided to look into the wild boars’ situation.
To determine the wild boar group’s location, Chen Wen took the Golden Eagle with him.
On Hua Yun’s side.
Filled with excitement, she arrived near the traps and began searching for the wild boar’s traces. Soon, she found it.
At the location where she set the traps yesterday, a young wild boar, nearly adult-sized, got caught by the boar snare on its left front hoof, body half-hung by a small tree, on the verge of death.
Although it hadn’t died completely, hanging like that overnight left it in a state not much different from dead.
Cautious Hua Yun held a bow and arrow, standing ten meters away, slowly aiming at the wild boar’s vitals.
Then she drew the bow and arrow, releasing it.
Swish!
The arrow pierced into the wild boar’s chest; it struggled weakly and soon tilted its head, dying completely.
Hua Yun removed the boar snare, dragged the wild boar, and slowly walked back to the camp.
The boar wasn’t very large; dragging it wasn’t too difficult for her.
Moreover, her elation from the successful hunt made Hua Yun overlook the effort of dragging the boar.
...
On Chen Wen’s side.
Unlike Hua Yun’s relatively smooth experience, his situation was somewhat complex.
Upon arriving at the wild boar nest, Chen Wen was surprised to find none of the wild boars present.
But it was early morning— the wild boars’ active time.
He had the Golden Eagle scour around, yet after flying a round, the Golden Eagle surprisingly didn’t spot any wild boar herd signs either.
Chen Wen paused in bafflement.
Not earlier!
The wild boars didn’t run off last night, but they did this morning?
He pondered for a moment, then instructed the Golden Eagle to expand the search range while he himself ventured near the wild boar nest, intending to locate boar signs through footprints and related information.
With the Golden Eagle surveying, Chen Wen persistently searched.
He examined the footprints— they were messy, and differentiating their timing was futile, prompting Chen Wen to decisively inspect the boars’ feces for signs.
Soon, with relentless efforts, he noticed fresher dung distributed toward where he set the traps.
This caused Chen Wen to furrow his brows.
Could something have gone wrong at my trap setups?
Mulling over, Chen Wen hastened his pace impulsively.
Soon, he reached the closest trap he had set up for the wild boars.
Nearing the vicinity, Chen Wen faintly heard peculiar noises.
Something seemed to be making a series of shrill cries.
Wild boar?
Reflecting on this, Chen Wen followed the sound’s source.
Several minutes later.
Chen Wen discovered his already triggered trap and a wild boar suspended by it.
"Wow, got one, and it’s an adult specimen too, the luck!"
Chen Wen spoke with surprise, moving toward this adult wild boar.
Upon noticing Chen Wen, the wild boar seemed to realize it was in significant trouble.
Unlike the dying wild boar Hua Yun encountered, this fellow still possessed ample strength.
Holding back its power, the wild boar saw Chen Wen attempting to approach; it hesitated not a moment, decisively charging at him.
But Chen Wen was no ordinary person.
Detecting from the wild boar’s fierce glare its imminent last struggle, he prepared in advance.
As the wild boar charged abruptly, Chen Wen leapt back swiftly, deftly evading the boar’s assault.
One might say, the lesson Black Panther taught that day was one Chen Wen would never forget.
Back then, he nearly paid with his life for the tuition.
The wild boar’s attack missed, yanked back abruptly by the snares, growling menacingly under the tree.
Nonetheless, Chen Wen held a long spear, and fear of the creature was nonexistent.
Aiming at the boar’s belly, roughly near the heart region, he fiercely thrust out the long spear.
The wild boar screeched in agony instantly.
It struggled mightily, almost breaking the small tree set for the trap with its thrashing force.
Such tremendous strength left Chen Wen astonished.
This creature’s weight didn’t seem sizable, yet the force exerted in those desperate throes was genuinely immense!
However, the struggle did not last long.
Chen Wen’s long spear, precisely piercing the boar’s vitals, accompanied by its violent struggles, saw its life relentlessly ebb away.
Around ten seconds later, as blood gushed forth, the boar’s life faded thoroughly.
Chen Wen shook the long spear, dislodging the blood upon it, then wiped it on the wild boar’s body.
One down!
