Chapter 569: Chapter 361: Steel Elephant Kid

Lion City didn’t have widespread access to phones or the internet, so people had to rely on Spiritual Ability Facilities installed inside the battle arenas to fill out application forms.

It was still much faster than writing by hand, though.

Everyone was keenly interested in the local level of competition. To give the newly joined Huaimiao some practice, Han Ning filled out a battle application as well.

After submitting their applications, the group found an arena where a match was about to begin and decided to watch to pass the time.

"Brown stone seat area, sit wherever you like." The horse-headed ticket inspector scanned their metal card with a detection device and gave them a practiced smile.

The battle hall’s decor was rugged, resembling an open-air stadium. Rows of spectator seats rose above the battle stage, with the dueling grounds for the competitors situated at the very bottom.

The "brown stone seat area" was, in fact, the premium viewing section. Sitting there, one could even enjoy massages from the surrounding attendants.

A few minutes passed, and people began to trickle into the venue.

Once more than half of the several hundred seats were filled, two figures emerged from a side door at the edge of the lower battleground and walked onto the field.

The contestant on the left was a young boy, appearing to be about fifteen or sixteen. His most striking feature was his nose—it was thick and long, hanging down to his neck and shimmering with a silvery-white light.

’Huh? Is that... a kid from the Steel Elephant Race?!’

A flicker of surprise crossed Han Ning’s face as he got a clear look at the boy.

The physical traits of the Steel Elephant Tribe members were just too easy to recognize. A large, gleaming steel nose needed no further introduction.

Across from the Steel Elephant Youth stood a burly man nearly 2.5 meters tall, his body a mass of knotted muscle. He had a pig-like face with tusks protruding from his mouth.

"A Beast Master from the Steel Elephant Tribe versus one from the Flame Pig Clan. Now this is going to be a good show," Bobo Man said, his face alight with excitement.

"This will be a 1v1 Soul Beast battle, concluding when one Soul Beast is incapacitated or a Beast Master surrenders."

The two contestants took their places. The staff member acting as a temporary referee waved his hand, signaling the match to begin.

A 1v1 meant each side would summon only a single Soul Beast.

WHOOSH!

As the referee finished speaking, two flashes of light—one silver, one yellow—streaked through the air.

Two figures instantly appeared on the field.

In front of the Steel Elephant Youth appeared a massive "dragonfly" the size of a bathtub. Its body, seemingly forged from steel, was a pale silver. It had a long, narrow tail, a pair of large eyes, and two pairs of translucent, insect-like wings.

The Silver Flashing Dragonfly, a Gold and Earth, B+ Talent, Beast Type Soul Beast.

Despite its dragonfly-like appearance, it was a genuine Beast Type.

Beneath its steel-forged shell lay a powerful physique, comparable to that of an Ancient Sacred Beast.

Having been born amidst ore veins rich in magnetic fields, it also possessed certain electromagnetic properties.

’Damn, we just walked into a random battle hall and ran into a B+ Talent Soul Beast. Is it because we’re in Lion City, or are we just that lucky?’

Han Ning marveled as the Soul Beast’s information appeared in his mind.

After all, before they had entered the Continent Group, it was rare to see a Soul Beast with more than a B Talent, even in the Celestial Sea.

Before the burly man stood a massive, boar-shaped Soul Beast wreathed in golden flames.

"What kind of Soul Beast is that? It looks a lot like a Flame Vein Pig Demon, but its flames are golden."

Even Bobo Man, who had been studying the compendium of Soul Beasts since he was a child and had pored over all sorts of reference materials, couldn’t immediately identify the golden boar.

"Could it be a hybrid Soul Beast bred within the Flame Pig Clan?" Lin Tianhe also looked thoughtful, unable to identify it.

"It is a Flame Vein Pig Demon," Han Ning explained. "It’s just consumed a special Crystal Stone from the Holy Crystal Race, which changed the nature of its flames."

The Flame Vein Pig Demon was a B Talent, Fire Type Soul Beast. Han Ning had just learned of this one’s unique properties from his panel.

While the group was talking, the two Beast Masters on the field below didn’t immediately begin battling. Instead, they started with verbal attacks.

The pig-headed brute saw the Steel Elephant Youth’s gleaming little steel nose and sneered, "Little brother, my big pig is way tougher than your little dragonfly. Tell it to just bear with it; this fight will be over in a flash."

"You filthy boar. So mediocre, yet so confident," the Steel Elephant Youth scoffed, a sharp canine peeking from behind his lips.

His accent was slightly strange, but the boy’s clear, crisp voice masked the awkwardness well.

"Hmph!"

The pig-headed brute made no visible move, but the Flame Vein Pig Demon before him instantly coiled and uncoiled like a spring, launching forward with lightning speed.

Before the Steel Elephant Youth could even react, he could only vaguely make out a streak of yellow light flashing before his eyes.

The Silver Flashing Dragonfly hadn’t even had time to maneuver its powerful body before yellow flames materialized around it, severely restricting its movements.

A faint, golden wave of flame radiated from the massive boar, and two tendrils of fire, each as thick as a man’s head, shot out to envelop the Silver Flashing Dragonfly layer by layer.

The Silver Flashing Dragonfly reeled as if struck by lightning. It flapped its shimmering silver wings frantically, its entire body emitting a low hum like a revving motor. Sharp waves of energy shot outward as it tried to break free from its bonds.

But the massive boar seemed completely unfazed. As the Flame Ropes tightened, the Silver Flashing Dragonfly’s struggles grew weaker and weaker.

Under the effect of the golden Flame Ropes, wisps of silver smoke began to rise from the Silver Flashing Dragonfly’s body.

Its dragonfly-like exterior started to warp, gradually revealing the powerful, dark red muscles underneath.
