Wilderness: I Tame Beasts to Survive
Chapter 554 - 353: Target, Southern Continent Group
Chapter 554: Chapter 353: Target, Southern Continent Group
"Everything is still in the early stages, Miss Yelena. I’ll have to ask for more of your technical guidance in the future," Han Ning said with a cheeky smile.
"Of course... As for the specific plans for our technology exchange, we’ll have to discuss the details once you arrive on the Thunder Continent. I’m not very well-versed in the technical field."
After Han Ning had taken a moment to survey his surroundings, Dean Wu continued.
"Let’s walk around and have a look."
Upon entering the Secret Realm, Han Ning found that it wasn’t particularly large. The individual zones ranged from only a few hundred to several thousand square meters in size.
A mysterious power separated the various zones, containing their unique environments, which could be either peaceful or violent.
Perfectly straight corridors stretched out in all directions, connecting the different areas.
They weren’t the only ones here; researchers in white lab coats bustled back and forth.
Some looked human, others had dragon heads or the features of the Abyssal Race. There were even members of the Deep Sea Race present, such as Wangchao and the Sea Goddess.
LCD screens were mounted on the transparent walls of the corridors, each displaying detailed information about the Soul Beasts in the current zone.
Moreover, they had implemented AI and big data recognition technology. Whenever a Soul Beast appeared in a camera’s field of view, its corresponding Talents and personality would be displayed on the screen.
Even Pure Elemental Soul Beasts had personalities; any creature possessing Spirituality would have a personality of its own.
Now, a Soul Beast’s Talents were no longer a guessing game, like opening a blind box; they were clearly listed on the screen.
Han Ning stood before a zone where magma surged, peering inside.
The magma-covered area resembled a large swimming pool, where dozens of tiny, dark-red flames floated above the surface or bobbed within its depths.
On the shore, little "stone" people with the color and gem-like luster of obsidian rolled around on the steaming, rocky ground.
Fire Elemental Elves and Molten Rock Spirits.
Both possessed C Level Talent.
Glancing at the screen, Han Ning saw that about a third of the Soul Beasts inside possessed a Talent, and their personalities were mostly listed as "Volatile."
As he scanned the area, the viscous magma pool ahead suddenly began to churn. A tumbling, twisting mass of flame, wreathed in dark purple fire, shot up from the depths.
"A Nether Flame Elf?"
This was a Soul Beast he had once encountered in the Magma Lake deep within the Insect Land Volcano.
Nether Flame Elf, a B Level Pure Elemental Soul Beast. It controlled Nether Flame, a type of fire with extremely high temperatures and toxic properties.
The LCD screen showed that it possessed two Talents: Flame Absorption and Flame Fury.
Flame Absorption: Immune to 90% of the damage from an enemy’s Fire Type Spiritual Techniques, with the added effect of replenishing Energy.
Flame Fury: Enters a berserk state, drastically increasing the power of all Fire Type Spiritual Techniques.
"It’s one of the most precious Soul Beasts currently in the Secret Realm. It’s not available for adoption as a Contracted Soul Beast by Alliance members. Instead, it will be used as a cornerstone for transforming the Fire Element environment," Zhou Mingkai explained on behalf of Dean Wu.
"The Deep Sea Family has conducted profound research on the Water Element, but their understanding of other Elements is inferior to that of the Witch Spirit Race. As Miss Yelena said, we are unable to establish a channel to the Elemental Saint Realm, so high-density Elemental Spiritual Energy cannot be used to replenish the Secret Realm. Under these circumstances... creating the special environment needed to nurture Elemental Soul Beasts would take an extremely long time."
Han Ning understood the implication in the academician’s words. He nodded slightly to show he understood and said, "Mm, Academician Zhou, please tell me whatever you need. I’ll make a note of it all and find a way to help you solve it after I leave."
Academician Zhou could only help humanity solve problems on the technical side. As for resources and connections, that was a job for Han Ning, the middleman between numerous races.
Next to the magma zone was a botanical area planted with verdant flora.
All sorts of Wood Type Soul Beasts were scattered throughout this area.
Wood Type Pure Elemental Soul Beasts were among the most common.
Most of them wielded the Power of Nature, which could heal injuries and control vegetation.
The botanical zone was a dense forest covering five thousand square meters. Its environment was not as harsh as the magma zone, and it was also larger.
The creatures living inside were all juvenile Wood Type Soul Beasts and Elemental Creatures, utterly incapable of harming the group.
The group quickly walked through a forest path, passing by Wood Type Soul Beasts that resembled wood and vines. Under their "pitiful" gazes, they headed straight for the area indicated on their tablet, where a B Level Soul Beast was likely to appear.
"According to the tablet, the tallest tree in this botanical zone is the nest of the B Level Soul Beast, Lord Akatos, the Jade Green Dragon?"
"Has Lord Akatos... awakened?" Han Ning asked, stopping beneath a giant tree that was over a hundred meters tall, its branches and leaves exceptionally lush and green.
He searched curiously for any sign of Akatos.
"The Wood Type Spiritual Energy is abundant here, so we’ve temporarily placed the newborn body of the Acatos Ancestor here to be nurtured while we wait for the Qing Xuan Ancestor to awaken." This time, the explanation came from Qing Fan of the Dragon Blood Race.
Within the Secret Realm, all work related to nurturing Dragon-type Soul Beasts was handled by the Dragon Blood Race.
Han Ning felt the surging Spiritual Power in his mind and said, "Lord Qing Xuan... I’ll continue my efforts. It won’t be too much longer before I can help reforge his Residual Soul."
"Mm... Also, regarding Lord Qing Dou... the injuries to his Spiritual Body are almost fully repaired. When you get back, you can go into the Heaven-Reaching Tower to see him."
Besides Qing Dou, the Spiritual Bodies of Sage and Hom had also been repaired over the last four years. They had already awakened but were still staying in the Heaven-Reaching Tower to continue refining their Spiritual Bodies.
As they were speaking.
"CHIRP CHIRP~"
A tiny head poked out, looking curiously at Han Ning.
Acatos’s newborn body looked like a small, emerald-green gecko, staring with a pair of pure, innocent eyes.
’He’s kind of cute.’ Han Ning’s expression grew a little wistful as he thought of the peak Monarch Akatos once was—a being of great wisdom and magnificent presence.
The tablet listed Akatos’s three Talents, which were related to Wood and Dragon.
Healing Power: When near Akatos, the immense Power of Nature from its body automatically heals surrounding creatures.
Dragon Spirit: The soul of a dragon, which allows Akatos to use Wood Type Breath and communicate with the Dragon Race.
Child of Nature: As long as Akatos’s Dragon Spirit does not disperse and it remains in a natural environment, it is immortal.
"Goodbye, little fella~" Since Akatos had only just been "born," Han Ning didn’t want to disturb its peaceful life.
Startled by Han Ning’s wave, Akatos fled back into the great tree with a WHOOSH.
Next, the group took Han Ning to a Gold Type area filled everywhere with metal; a Thunderstorm Area with roiling thunderclouds and raging storms; an Earth Type area set in a high-pressure subterranean environment; and a special aquatic zone containing a pool of concentrated Water Type Essence.
There was a light zone woven purely from intersecting rays, a Darkness zone so black you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face, and so on.
The sheer variety was a true eye-opener for Han Ning.
...
After touring for several hours, the group returned to the conference room.
For the remainder of the time, Dean Wu introduced Han Ning to several other fields related to civilian life.
For instance, a "Great-Feathered Bird" whose meat tasted remarkably like chicken.
"Triangle-Horned Cattle" that produced milk suitable for human consumption.
The researchers in the biology group had done their utmost to replicate some of the common foods from everyone’s past lives here in the Otherworld.
There were also multi-function tactical eyepieces that, when worn, could automatically display a Soul Beast’s Race and other related information.
Armor that automatically concealed Spiritual Energy fluctuations and had an optical cloaking function.
Energy Blocks that had a longer battery life than ternary lithium batteries and could power an electric vehicle for seven days and seven nights straight...
The fusion of Spiritual Energy and technology had given birth to many "black tech" products never before seen on Blue Star.
"The undersea environment still isn’t a place where we can operate at our full potential. As a terrestrial race, we have to go to the continents..."
Listening to Dean Wu’s description, Han Ning cast his gaze into the distance.
It was time to set off for the Southern Continent Group.
