Chapter 516: Chapter 334: Flood Dragon Heart (Part 2)
And at that moment, Egg Pancake tore with all its might once more.
BOOM!
The ground quaked and the mountains swayed. The Crystal Soul Beast, larger than a mountain peak, instantly shattered into countless fragments that scattered and drifted down.
"Get him!"
A glint flashed in Han Ning’s eyes as he located the man who had safely retreated from the bombardment of the two Soul Techniques. His Spiritual Power surged, forming sharp arrows that shot forward.
PFFT! PFFT! PFFT!
Three Spiritual Spikes, empowered by his Tier Four Spiritual Power, shot straight into the man’s mind, causing him to freeze on the spot.
Wielding dual swords, Fei Lin appeared beside Han Ning. Within a few flickers, she was at the man’s side. A flurry of sword flashes wove a deadly net, ensnaring him completely.
Caught in the lightning-fast ambush, the man was powerless to resist and was captured instantly.
’He’s not that strong. His Soul Beast is only at the Middle Monarch level. Running into Egg Pancake... what bad luck.’ Han Ning could tell from the man’s face that he was very young. ’If he were truly powerful, his sister probably wouldn’t have had to run all over the place just for a trial slot.’
Fei Lin held her blade to the man’s fair neck, dragging him as she floated down to Han Ning’s side.
Only about ten seconds had passed.
On the other battlefield, the battle between Irena’s and Ruiyue’s Soul Beasts was cataclysmic. Fortunately, both sides were deliberately containing the shockwaves; otherwise, Han Ning’s group would have had to retreat much farther away.
Her brother’s instantaneous defeat caused Ruiyue’s expression to change dramatically. She immediately directed her Soul Beast to charge over, but Irena expertly intercepted it.
She opened her mouth, seemingly in a war of words with Irena, but they were too far away for Han Ning to hear clearly.
Jing Lan of the Dread Whale Race hadn’t left. Instead, he floated nearby, observing the battle.
Han Ning withdrew his gaze and looked the handsome young man before him up and down, chuckling.
"What’s your name?"
Up close, he looked to be a teenager of about sixteen or seventeen.
"Hmph!"
The defiant youth turned his head away, ignoring Han Ning.
"If this were a war against the Alien Races, you would already be dead."
Han Ning activated his mind, and his Spiritual Power, formed into a sharp arrow, brutally bored into the young man’s brain.
Fei Lin’s sword tip pressed forward slightly, leaving a fine line of blood on the young man’s unblemished neck.
"Hah... I’ll talk! I’ll talk! My name is Taman Yak," the youth answered, his voice trembling and his head covered in sweat. He didn’t dare to meet Han Ning’s gaze.
"Hm, a nice name. Now, hand over all the treasures you’ve collected in the Secret Realm."
Han Ning chuckled, his eyes scanning the youth. He quickly spotted an exquisite cloth pouch at his waist, a gold ring on his finger, and a Crystal Stone bracelet on his wrist that radiated a bright halo of light.
"Yak, don’t agree to any of their demands! I’m coming to save you!"
Just as Yak hesitated, a distant Ruiyue caught sight of the situation and let out a furious roar. Her delicate skin suddenly took on a hard, crystalline sheen.
In an instant, her entire body was encased in Crystal Stone.
"She’s about to go all out," came Irena’s telepathic message. "With my current power, it’s unlikely I can stop her unharmed. Grab the treasures. We need to get out of here, fast."
"Yoink!"
Without another word, Han Ning stripped Yak of everything that glittered. Then, he ordered Fei Lin to slash her sword across the young man’s neck.
CRACK!
A deep blue light flared.
An Escape Bubble automatically triggered. A rift tore open in space, carrying Yak and his Soul Beast out of the Secret Realm.
At the same time, Irena swooped down to snatch the massive Flood Dragon Heart, then flew over on her Soul Beast.
"Let’s move!" her mind urged, a constant telepathic warning.
"Follow me!" Lin Ke scanned their surroundings, pointed to a grand hall below, then mounted her Little Cyan Flood Dragon and dove toward it.
Han Ning shot a glance at the absolutely furious Ruiyue and hastily commanded his Soul Beasts to follow.
He followed Lin Ke to the entrance of an exquisite hall below.
The main building was at least fifty meters tall and rectangular. Its central doors, which appeared to be made of wood, were covered in complex, decorative carvings.
The windows, where paper panes should have been, were covered by a thick layer of green algae, obscuring whatever was inside.
The Little Cyan Flood Dragon, trailing a stream of water, swam up to the main doors.
It raised a forelimb and swiped gently.
CREAK~
In a daze, Han Ning thought he heard the sound of turning wooden gears.
The great doors swung open without resistance, revealing a pitch-black space beyond.
Lin Ke and her Soul Beast were the first to enter.
Han Ning assumed the glow from their Spiritual Energy would illuminate the space inside.
But it remained completely dark.
"I’ve lost my spiritual connection," Irena said, her brow furrowing.
Just then, Lin Ke reappeared. "It’s safe inside. Quick, get in."
His vision blurred for a moment.
When his senses returned, Han Ning found himself in a wide-open space.
"Huh? The water’s gone?" Han Ning waved his hand, feeling no resistance. The air he breathed was dry and crisp.
Lin Ke stared blankly ahead.
"What is this?!"
Han Ning followed her gaze, and his eyes widened. On the wall before them was a relief carving of a roaring Flood Dragon with its mouth agape.
In the center of the dragon’s mouth swirled a deep blue vortex.
"This is a local teleporter, a type of Soul Artifact that utilizes the Space Element," Irena deduced, drawing on her wide knowledge.
"According to my family’s records, this should lead to the core of the ruins. Since it’s here in the Secret Realm, someone must have been here before. It shouldn’t be dangerous," Lin Ke said, then stepped through with her Soul Beast.
Han Ning and Irena exchanged a glance. Feeling the immense Spiritual Energy pressure growing behind them, they followed her in without a second thought.
After a brief moment of dizziness, the three of them opened their eyes.
Han Ning’s first impression was of another dim, dark environment.
"Where are we?"
The three of them and their several Soul Beasts crammed into the small space.
They found themselves in a quaint, antique bedroom.
Wooden tables, chairs, and benches filled the room. Behind them was an exquisitely carved canopy bed.
At the head of the bed sat a Copper Mirror.
The mirror’s surface emitted a faint blue glimmer.
A tiny vortex hovered on the surface of the Copper Mirror.
Han Ning resisted the urge to snatch the Copper Mirror and instead leaned in to observe it closely.
It was a Copper Mirror with a mottled lacquer finish. The handle was etched with mysterious, dragon-shaped patterns.
"How incredible. The portal is actually embedded in the Copper Mirror?" Irena said in astonishment. She thought for a moment before adding,
"Can you close the portal? We can’t let that witch Ruiyue follow us in."
Lin Ke nodded, picking up the Copper Mirror to study it.
After a moment, she tilted her head and pulled out a sharp, long spike from her robes, something between a Dragon’s Tooth and a dagger. She drew it across her fair wrist.
Blood welled up, and she let it drip onto the Copper Mirror while chanting in the strange syllables of the Dragon Language.
"Oh, great Ancient Dragon... do you hear your servant’s call..."
A long time ago, Han Ning had considered the Dragon Language to be something mysterious and profound.
But after receiving the True Dragon’s blessing and gaining fluency, he discovered that the "spells" chanted by the Dragon Race and Beast Masters with draconic blood were just ordinary prayers and oaths.
He wasn’t sure if you could call it disenchantment.
The Copper Mirror glowed with an ethereal blue light.
As the other two watched in amazement, the vortex slowly closed.
Han Ning could even faintly hear Ruiyue’s enraged cursing from the other side.
"It worked!" Lin Ke opened her eyes, her face filled with delight.
She clutched the Copper Mirror in her small hands, examining it with a look of sheer adoration.
"Who wants this Flood Dragon Heart?" Irena asked, taking out the azure heart, which had been compressed to the size of a goose egg by some special power.
"Give it to Brother Han Ning! And... can I have this mirror?" Lin Ke asked, looking at the other two with pleading eyes.
The girl was clever; anyone could see that the Copper Mirror was far more valuable than the heart.
"I have no objections. Without Lin Ke, we never would have found this hidden place. Miss Irena, you contributed the most. See if there’s anything you want?" Han Ning gave his opinion, laying out the spoils he had taken from Yak.
’He had the Heaven-Reaching Tower, so he wasn’t particularly interested in trinkets like these.’
