Why is This Troublemaker So Damn Rich?
Chapter 277 - 205: Who Did He Get a Room With?
Cai Miao never imagined it would come to this. Her husband was screaming at her, right in her face, telling her to get out. And the man she had always depended on? He had completely ignored her in her moment of crisis, abandoning her and walking away alone.
’She suddenly wondered about the person in Yang Hui’s room, the one who had screamed "Leader" in that heart-wrenching voice. Could it be Zhu Jing? She was desperate to know who was inside. If she found out, wouldn’t they both have dirt on each other, preventing him from publicizing what she’d done?’
Cai Miao was overthinking things. Yang Hui couldn’t be bothered with their messy affair. He was currently smiling triumphantly. ’After this,’ he thought, ’would Li Yang still dare to keep me around? Just seeing me should be enough to haunt him, right? Or maybe make him so worried he can’t eat or sleep?’
Once everything quieted down, Liu Shasha came out and asked, "What happened out there?"
After learning that someone had been caught cheating, she chuckled and said, "My man is better. He only goes after other people’s future wives, never their current ones."
He had a simple meal with her at Xinyue Square. After dropping her off at her residential complex’s entrance by taxi, he told the driver, "To Wenjing Yunlu."
As the taxi arrived at the complex and the driver slowly pulled over, Yang Hui glanced outside while scanning the QR code to pay. What a coincidence—this morning, he had gotten into the taxi as she was getting out. Now, as he was getting out, she was getting in. It felt like a perfect cycle.
Dusk was settling in. Yang Bing stood at the edge of the road, her black dress stirred by the wind into dark, surging waves. The fabric, which seemed to drape smoothly, held a hidden tension that now sculpted her voluptuous curves into a living statue.
The woman had a scholarly air about her, the refined grace of a lady from a prominent family.
Yang Bing was about to hail a taxi for a dinner party when one pulled up right in front of her. As she saw the passenger getting out of the back seat was Yang Hui, her expression faltered. She recalled the morning’s incident—how he’d seen her exposed and caused her such embarrassment—and quickly averted her gaze, pretending not to recognize him.
Yang Hui paid her no mind. He gave her a quick once-over and said, "Miss, your zipper is down." Without another word, he walked on.
Yang Bing went pale with fright and quickly reached for her back. She found the zipper on her dress was, in fact, all the way up. She instantly realized Yang Hui was just messing with her. ’That man is despicable!’ she thought. ’I can’t believe someone so awful lives in Wenjing Yunlu.’
She got into the taxi indignantly and told the driver her destination.
After taking a couple of steps, Yang Hui glanced back. He happened to notice something lying on the clean pavement where he had just gotten out of the car. Thinking he might have dropped something, he hurried back to pick it up and saw that it was an ID card.
’Yang Bing—so that’s her name.’ It wasn’t his; it must belong to the beautiful woman from just now. The taxi was already far down the road, and he had no idea how to return it to her. ’I’ll just hold onto it for now,’ he decided. ’If all else fails, I can mail it to the address on the card.’
When he got home, Wenren Meng and Wenren Du’Er had just finished dinner. Upon seeing Yang Hui, Wenren Du’Er skipped over, took his bag, and laid out his slippers for him. "Dad, you must be tired."
Yang Hui slipped on the slippers and asked, "You’re acting a little strange today. Go on, what is it you want to ask for?"
’This girl is so sharp,’ he thought. He remembered the night he’d first found her. To protect herself in case he was a bad guy, she had even quoted criminal law at him. So precocious.
Surprised at being seen through so easily, Wenren Du’Er thought, ’Dad really is smart. I can run circles around all my classmates, and no one ever figures me out.’
Just then, Wenren Meng came out. Seeing Wenren Du’Er hesitating, she recalled their earlier conversation and couldn’t help but say, "Mr. Yang, Du’Er’s school is holding a parent-teacher conference tomorrow afternoon. She would like you to go. I know you’re very busy, so I can go instead."
’So that’s what this was about.’ Yang Hui looked at the little girl’s hopeful face. He didn’t answer right away, and tears began to well up in her big, dark, glistening eyes. It looked like she was trying her hardest to hold them back, but they were ready to spill over at any second.
He beckoned to her. Wenren Du’Er walked over timidly. ’He really doesn’t have time,’ she thought. ’He’s probably going to explain why he can’t go.’
"Du’Er, from now on, if there’s something you want, just tell me directly. If I really can’t do it, I’ll tell you so. You call me Dad, and that means you can ask me for anything. I’ll go to the parent-teacher conference tomorrow. And I promise you, I’ll go to all your future ones, too, as long as I have the time."
"That’s wonderful! That’s wonderful! I knew you cared about me, Dad!"
She jumped up and down, laughing through her tears. Yang Hui knew she had never felt the warmth of a family growing up. It had made her mature beyond her years, like a little adult, but it also left her feeling insecure.
Wenren Meng, watching from the side, was happy for her too. The wish Du’Er had been hoping for all day had finally come true.
"Mr. Yang, you should change out of your clothes. I’m about to do a load of laundry, and I can wash them for you."
Yang Hui nodded. "Du’Er, hurry up and finish your homework so you can get to bed early. Otherwise, when I go to the conference tomorrow, your teacher will pull me aside and tell me you never get your homework done."
Wenren Du’Er crinkled her little nose and huffed, "They won’t say that! It doesn’t matter if I do my homework, as long as I do well on my exams."
"I know you get good grades, but don’t get arrogant. You need to stay humble. Now, off to your room."
Yang Hui went into the bathroom. It was equipped with a large jacuzzi tub. He was feeling tired today and wanted a good soak. He changed out of his clothes, tossing them outside for Wenren Meng to collect, then sank into the tub, enjoying the sensation of the massage jets.
