Zhang Hulan crawled out.

She clutched Pei Hu’s severed arm, her fingers trembling as she removed the Space Ring from his pinky.

While the arm was still warm, she used his fingerprint to unlock it and registered it as her own.

Pei Hu’s eyes turned red. ’You shallow creature!’

He endured the pain and softened his tone. "Go get help. I’ll give you anything you want."

Zhang Hulan rummaged through the Space Ring, ignoring him.

Pei Hu summoned his Soul Beast.

Without its talons and wings, the Black Eagle struggled twice before collapsing to the ground, unable to get up.

It let out a screech.

Blood started trickling from Zhang Hulan’s ears and she felt a wave of Dizziness, but she still didn’t respond.

The Black Eagle’s eyes darted, trying to mesmerize her.

Zhang Hulan’s back was to it, completely still. The Skill had no effect on her at all.

The Black Eagle dejectedly closed its eyes.

Limb Severing was Pei Yin’s Skill. It required immense Soul Power and spiritual power.

The Black Eagle couldn’t do it when it had its talons, and it certainly couldn’t do it without them.

Pei Hu’s gaze lost focus. ’I can’t believe I’m going to die such a pathetic death.’

Just then, Zhang Hulan moved.

A flicker of hope ignited in Pei Hu’s eyes.

Zhang Hulan turned around, a knife in her hand.

Zhang Hulan muttered under her breath, "Don’t blame me. It’s not my fault. It’s your son’s fault for not finishing the job."

She pressed the tip of the knife to Pei Hu’s heart and stabbed down hard, several times.

’Still breathing. Not dead yet. He’s still not dead.’

Zhang Hulan closed her eyes, placed the knife against Pei Hu’s neck, and sliced with all her might.

His head came loose.

’Finally dead.’

Zhang Hulan let the sheet she was wrapped in fall, took out Pei Hu’s clothes from the Space Ring, put them on, and fled in a hurry.

...

The air felt like it had been soaked in ice, and the chill from the Ultimate Eye Beast Forest seeped straight into one’s bones.

Zhang Qin got up and checked the time. Nine in the morning.

He was about to wake everyone up when he turned his head and nearly screamed.

Zhang Qin bent down, grabbed Wang Hu’s shoulders, and shook him frantically. "Wake up, wake up! Why is the Chairman sleeping with the new girl!"

Wang Hu slapped his hands away, his mouth turning down in a pout. "I’m sleeping next to you, aren’t I? Stop shouting, we don’t even have class today."

Their voices woke the person next to them.

Lu Qi sat up carefully, rubbed his eyes, and dropped a bombshell. "Why is the Chairman holding the new girl while he sleeps?"

That single sentence jolted a whole group of people awake.

Wang Hu shot up into a sitting position as stiff as a board and stared at Zhang Qin, dumbfounded. They were both in shock.

Teacher Hu remained expressionless. He had woken up early and had already grown numb to the sight.

He woke up the dazed team members. "Everyone, pack up. It’s about time to head out."

Sheng Yue was awake too, but he hadn’t gotten up.

He stared at Jian Yu in a daze, silently pulling the blanket down a little to let her breathe.

Thanks to the meticulous care from Xi Yu and the others, Jian Yu was no longer as pale and weak as when they first met.

Her fair face had been nursed back to a fine, healthy glow. After a long night’s sleep, her cheeks were faintly flushed where the blanket had been.

Yin Jiu circled around to the foot of the bed, shrank its body, and darted between the two of them.

It kissed Jian Yu’s cheek and snuggled its face into her embrace.

Jian Yu’s eyelids twitched. She instinctively hugged Yin Jiu, her fingers gently kneading its tail.

Sheng Yue let out a muffled grunt and quickly bit his lip, but he still couldn’t control it.

A few soft gasps escaped, carrying a hint of a seductive, ambiguous moan.

Jian Yu was instantly wide awake. She scooped up Yin Jiu with one arm, her eyes flying open in alarm as she scrambled up.

The sounds of everyone washing up filled her ears, mixed with the rustling of people getting out of bed.

Yin Jiu nestled obediently in the crook of Jian Yu’s arm, tilting its head up. "Babe, good morning."

Jian Yu stroked Yin Jiu’s head, the corners of her lips turning up. "Good morning."

Her eyes were fixed on Sheng Yue.

After the hangover, the man’s handsome features had lost their usual sharp clarity and gained a touch of vulnerability.

Sheng Yue sat up, his voice as cool and aloof as ever. "You’re awake."

"Mhm." Jian Yu’s voice was soft and gentle, and even that single sound was sweet and pliant.

But her expression was teasing. Not only did she raise an eyebrow at Sheng Yue, but her fingers also slid down Yin Jiu’s tail, kneading it slowly and deliberately.

Yin Jiu hummed and squirmed.

Sheng Yue’s indifferent expression cracked, and an involuntary whimper escaped his throat.

The corners of his eyes glistened with unshed tears, his face a mask of restraint and bewilderment.

Jian Yu lifted her gaze, staring at the hand Sheng Yue was about to reach out with.

Her smile faded. She pressed her lips together, her expression returning to one of cool indifference.

Sheng Yue watched Jian Yu in silence, pulling the hand that wanted to stop her back behind him with great restraint.

The hand behind his back was clenched into a fist, the veins on its back faintly bulging.

He shifted his hips sensitively, his beast ears flickering in and out of view, trembling slightly.

"Good boy." Jian Yu lowered her eyes, picked up Yin Jiu, and stroked its tail with clear implication.

Sheng Yue watched her through misty, tear-filled eyes, his lips pressed tightly together.

After suppressing the feeling, he gave a rational reminder, "We’re about to leave."

The voice that came from his throat was no longer cool, but carried a fragile, delicate softness.

Yin Jiu tilted up its chubby white face, its big, grape-blue eyes sparkling as it looked at Jian Yu. "Babe, I like it. More pets... pets."

The tips of Sheng Yue’s ears turned red. "..."

Teacher Hu raised his voice. "Anyone not up yet, hurry it up!"

Jian Yu stopped what she was doing and let go of Yin Jiu.

She casually got up to wash, leaving Sheng Yue alone, breathing in short, ragged gasps.

Zhang Qin pulled Wang Hu aside. "What happened last night? How did they get so far so fast? Just because his Soul Beast won the new girl’s heart, the Chairman gets to act this spoiled? He crawled into her bed in the middle of the night, and she didn’t even kick him out?"

He admitted that Yin Jiu was cute.

But how did a guy as icy as the Chairman manage to win over the new girl?

Wang Hu shook his hand off. "What’s it to you? Mind your own business. It’s one thing at school, but you’re like this out here too. You’re like my nagging old mom."

Zhang Qin scoffed. "What’s wrong with asking?"

He caught a glimpse of Jian Yu in her little dress, and his eyes were instantly captivated.

’Cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute.’

The team assembled.

Teacher Hu warned them again, "Regardless of whether people from Emperor Wolf Star Academy are up to something, everyone needs to keep a close watch on their belongings."

The Ultimate Eye was outside the service area, so the Star Brain was useless here.

The bracelet on their wrists only recorded each person’s ranking for hunting Mutant Beasts (both team and individual rankings).

Teacher Hu instructed, "You must stick together. Do not leave the group for any reason. If an accident happens, you must immediately activate the locator on your bracelet and send out a distress signal."

Teacher Hu used the word "must" twice, his tone solemn and heavy.

Hearing this, everyone’s hearts leaped into their throats. They tensed up, scanning their surroundings warily.

Teacher Hu looked to Sheng Yue for instructions, his eyes seeming to ask, ’Chairman Sheng, would you like to say a few words?’

Sheng Yue had nothing to say. He shook his head, declining.

Following the route on the map assigned to Team 15, the group’s shadows stretched long in the sunlight.

No one dared to joke with Chairman Sheng. And because of him, no one dared to casually talk to Jian Yu, either.

And so, they all walked on in silence.

Sheng Yue was originally walking at the front, but he gradually fell to the back of the group.

"I..."

Sheng Yue moved closer to Jian Yu, but before he could finish his sentence, he saw her wave him over.

Sheng Yue obediently bent down.

Jian Yu held out her hands. "I want to see Yin Jiu."

Sheng Yue paused for a moment, then summoned Yin Jiu.

Yin Jiu leaped into Jian Yu’s arms. "Hugs are good. I like hugs."

Jian Yu lowered her head and gave Yin Jiu a little kiss.

Sheng Yue inhaled a faint, sweet scent and felt a pair of soft lips brush fleetingly against the corner of his mouth.

He touched the corner of his mouth, stunned, then frantically used Instant Teleportation to appear at the front of the group. "I’ll take the lead."

After each short teleport, Sheng Yue would stop and wait for them.

He was like an NPC guide in a video game.

Along the way, since they were splitting everything evenly, everyone had acquired a few Beast Plants.

About an hour and a half passed.

Jian Yu began to feel the hairs on her arms stand on end.

She stopped and looked toward the patch of land to her right. It seemed like something was stirring beneath it, being awakened.
