Chapter 1826: Chapter 1071: The Gun of the Chapel!

A church?

Onora looked at the artistically impressive building in front of her, eyes filled with curiosity.

The Demon Clan doesn’t have much faith; most of them just eat after sleeping, sleep after eating, hit after eating, with no interest in indulging in faith. Their worship of the Demon King doesn’t fall within the realm of faith either.

They simply obey the orders of the most powerful warriors within their tribe.

Moreover, the Demon Clan doesn’t have any gods like the older brother who creates mayhem protecting them, making them even less faithful than humans.

So something like a church is absolutely impossible to see on the Demon Continent. You might occasionally find it in a dungeon, as any theme is possible to come out of a dungeon.

Sain Dungeon has many areas rich with church elements. Onora was someone interested in new things, so taking a second look at a church was quite normal, especially since the churches in Sain have distinctive styles, more flavorful than similar buildings elsewhere.

Then again, could that Black Dragon be hiding inside this church? From the outside, there are no traces of dragon activity, but what if…

Since there’s no sign of it now, she might as well go in and take a look.

With this in mind, Onora walked toward the church.

Along the way, she still encountered many frenzied monsters and even new types of Ring Seal Knights, all of which she managed to avoid.

The monsters appearing in Ring Seal City mostly had humanoid forms, and they posed a greater threat than animated corpses. Some frail-looking creatures could even conjure Thunder Spears in their hands and charge forward to stab you, which on first encounter is no less surprising than the living dead soldiers in the Undead Town Outside the City that could jump attack.

Onora didn’t have much research on monsters; she just had some understanding of the monsters in Sain Dungeon, and adventurers going through their Hunter’s Manual could improve their knowledge to Onora’s level.

During battles with these humanoid monsters, she gradually developed some questions, like…

Why do these monsters seem to be around the same height as me?

In her impression of the Sain Dungeon monsters, humanoid monsters were generally taller than standard humans, even animated corpses.

However, in Ring Seal City, humanoid monsters seemed to have shrunk in height.

She’s unsure how this happened, but it didn’t seem to matter much to her adventures; what does the height of monsters have to do with dungeon exploration?

“Why can’t I find other followers?”

By followers, she meant those who also worship and follow the Abyss.

Encountering the Persuader Worm at first gave her a pleasant surprise, thinking she might meet more companions who advocate the Abyss later.

But looking now, besides the earlier Black Dragon, no other monsters with an Abyssal presence appeared; even the Persuader Worms she met afterward attacked her fiercely, charging at her without saying a word.

What’s become of the so-called Abyss kinship that now it’s turning into betrayal?

“Sigh.”

Onora sighed, shaking her head while placing her hand on the church’s grand door, giving it a push.

The heavy stone door, three to four times taller than a normal man, didn’t budge.

“Huh?”

She wondered if she used too little force, so she pushed again, but it still didn’t move.

Is it going to display a message like [Cannot be opened from this side] next?

Fortunately, no such frustration-inducing message appeared.

Instead, a raspy voice came from behind the door.

“Intruder, leave at once, do not disturb Princess Fenlonor’s rest!”

What Princess Fenlonor, resting? Is there someone asleep in there?

Hearing the word ‘princess’ unexpectedly stirred Onora, as though she suddenly became the evil dragon from human fairy tales that steals princesses.

Perhaps driven by contrarian instincts, the more the voice behind the door forbade her actions, the more she wanted to proceed.

Thus, Onora pressed her hands against the stone door with vigor, bursting it open with a forceful shove.

“You dare!” the raspy voice immediately roared with anger.

A humid and sultry breeze blew against Onora as the door opened, carrying the scent of dust, fitting the stereotype of long-unopened churches.

The church was not bright, and its inner space didn’t seem broad; it was impossible for the Black Dragon to hide here, yet Onora showed no disappointment as the interior scenery was quite exquisite.

Upon opening the door, the full view of the church was revealed to her. Knight statues holding long spears and kneeling on one knee lined up neatly on both sides of the stone doorway, as if ready to stand up and fight at any moment.

Her gaze passed through this corridor of knight sculptures to the main hall of the church, an open yet dim chamber with multiple supporting stone columns adding to the constricted feeling.

Inexplicably, those columns seemed perfect for circling around.

It was quite a solemn-looking church, with the two rows of knight statues being the most eye-catching by current display standards.

But Onora’s attention was drawn to something directly facing the grand entrance.
