White Dragon Lord
Chapter 458: The Grand Finale
Year 800 of the White Tower Calendar.
The fiery morning sun cast countless golden rays across the lands of the Yafeiawei Empire, waking the slumbering populace to the start of a new day.
Within the majestic and wondrous City of Nine Rings, dense throngs of imperial citizens flowed endlessly like ants. Even in the early morning, this city—renowned throughout the multiverse—radiated charm and prosperity.
Luxurious carriages drawn by exotic beasts sped along the broad avenues. Professionals riding flying Transcendent Beasts soared through the sky, while mages streaked through the air with breakfast bread still dangling from their mouths.
It was a bustling, prosperous city.
The magical golem trade markets and magic accessory malls contributed massive tax revenues to the empire every year.
Real estate was another topic the empire's citizens relished discussing.
Ever since Oqi City expanded to nine rings, its scale had not grown any further. Instead, several satellite cities had been built, guarding Oqi City at their center like stars surrounding the moon. This made real estate within the nine rings absolutely irreplaceable.
The rise of the White Dragon Lord and the prosperity of the magical industry had further inflated the city's housing prices. This made Oqi City one of the most expensive cities in the multiverse, yet properties remained in such demand that they commanded a price but had no supply.
The people of the city took immense pride in living there. Unless absolutely necessary, very few would ever sell their properties. However, the moment an Oqi City resident showed the slightest intention of selling their home, buyers would immediately mob their doorway, packing the street tight. Anyone picked at random from the crowd would be a representative sent by at least a Count or a Duke. As for nobles below the rank of Viscount, they did not even have the courage to show up at the door.
Even a Duke might not have the last laugh among the numerous bidders, as kings or even powerful factions from across the multiverse would sometimes come to Oqi City to purchase a property as a local base for their visits.
Occasionally, dragons would also participate in the bidding.
Ever since the White Dragon Lord made a name for himself in the last great war between the Dragon Race and the Titans, the number of otherworldly dragons coming to Yafiavi had sharply increased. They came to travel, study, or even settle down. The Yafeiawei Empire had already become the de facto fourth holy land of the Dragon Race.
Metallic Dragons liked to transform into humanoids and blend into the lives of the empire's citizens. As a result, many people discovered that the neighbor who had told them stories in their childhood hadn't aged a single day, even after nearly a century had passed. Every so often, the newspapers would reveal that some public figure was actually a dragon in disguise.
Chromatic Dragons remained aloof and haughty, but they dared not act out of line within the Yafeiawei Empire. They lived like hermits in remote mountains and dense forests, and every once in a while, they would head to Sky City to converse with their peers.
Occasionally, gem dragons or even Legendary Rank dragon species would come to the Yafeiawei Empire, heading directly to the Floating City to visit the White Dragon Lord.
The Floating City was situated directly above Oqi City.
The White Dragon Lord had used a Magic Barrier to conceal it, and connected Sky City and Oqi City with a Portal. This gave ordinary people the chance to visit the Floating City for a day trip.
Crowds flowed endlessly through the Floating City, while the White Dragon Lord continued to study the mysteries of magic as usual.
As long as life continued, exploration would never cease.
Always balancing work and rest, he would also take time to relax after his busy endeavors. His favorite thing to do was to step out onto the balcony of the White Tower and look down. He watched the crowds coming and going on the streets, watched building after building being constructed, watched the shifting clouds beneath the Floating City, and watched the visiting dragons weave through the mist.
Whenever he saw these scenes, a profound sense of pride swelled within him.
Because this was the kingdom he had built.
