White Dragon Lord

Chapter 396: The Chromatic Dragons' Path to Wealth

  • Next Chapter

The setting sun's afterglow shone upon Ducamara, a famous city in the Sincaro Titan World, coating the historic titan city in a layer of gold.

In the past, the proud and noble titan residents of Ducamara would have ordered their giant servants to prepare pastries and fine wine. They would head to the parks or simply lounge in their own courtyards to enjoy this pleasant time of day.

Today, however, the titans of Ducamara were panicking like ordinary mortals facing a natural disaster, on the verge of complete collapse.

The dragon army had arrived!

Hovering in the sky, the White Dragon Lord steered the Floating Tower as the dragon army swooped down upon Ducamara like a swarm of bats surging from a cave.

The dragon army divided its labor with clear precision. Groups of fifty Legendary Dragons blockaded all major exits from Ducamara, while the rest plunged into the city, raining Dragon Breath and magic down upon the ancient capital of titan civilization. Meanwhile, the High-Tier Legendary Dragons charged straight for the Magic Tower in the center of the city.

The White Dragon Lord gazed at the Magic Tower, framed by the surrounding architecture like myriad stars surrounding the moon. Like all Magic Towers in a state of combat, its Magic Shield was fully activated.

But under the siege of a flock of High-Tier Legendary Dragons, this costly main defensive tower could not even mount a decent counterattack before its Magic Shield was torn apart.

The High-Tier Legendary Dragons then smashed through the walls and invaded the Magic Tower's interior. The White Dragon Lord saw only a few flashes of magical radiance bloom from within before everything returned to dead silence.

"Amos, it's done."

Receiving Crimson Flame Streamer's magical message, the White Dragon Lord piloted the Floating Tower toward the center of Ducamara, bringing the White Tower down into the thick smoke and blazing fires of the titan city.

The massive White Tower descended slowly into a relatively flat city park, its unyielding base crushing the stone benches, fountains, and every other fixture beneath it.

Once the White Tower touched down securely, the White Dragon Lord flew out of its control room to join the waiting dragons.

According to their agreed-upon loot distribution rules, the White Dragon Lord—having contributed the White Tower to the war effort—held the right of first pick. For the next ten minutes, he could choose any single item inside the main tower as his prize, after which the rest of the dragons would rely on their own skills to scrounge for spoils.

Under the watchful eyes of the many High-Tier Legendary Dragons, the White Dragon Lord pushed open the main tower's doors, brimming with anticipation. Just like Ice-Bound, the Lord of Red Lotus had built the main tower's hall to serve as a throne room to rule his nation.

Upon seeing the ornament atop the Lord of Red Lotus's throne, the White Dragon Lord and the rest of the dragons felt as though they had found a bug halfway through a delicious meal.

Mounted high at the top of the throne room was a massive green dragon's head. It had been preserved through special methods; not only was there no rot, but its scales were bright and lustrous, as if the dragon were merely sleeping.

The Matron of Venom's expression changed. She bypassed the White Dragon Lord and strode quickly toward the green dragon's head. After a careful inspection, she turned back to the dragons filing into the hall, her chest heaving violently.

"Everyone, I know this green dragon. She is the Mother of Venom, Modona—my poor grandmother. She went missing during a planar plundering campaign, yet to think I would find her remains here, treated like this by the titans. I am absolutely furious!"

Flame of the Molten Mountain pulled out the Lord of Red Lotus's severed head.

"Haha! Then I suppose I've avenged her for you! Once we get back, I'm going to mount this in the most prominent spot in my gallery!"

The heavy atmosphere was instantly broken by Flame of the Molten Mountain's interruption. The dragons turned their attention back to the White Dragon Lord, still waiting for him to pick his first spoil of war.

"Ahem! Lady Gelina, why don't you store away your grandmother's remains first?"

The White Dragon Lord said this as he walked forward, his eyes scanning the decorations lining both sides of the hall.

Walking all the way to the end of the hall, he fixed his gaze on the throne.

It was obvious the Lord of Red Lotus had put a lot of thought into his throne. Its frame was forged from precious adamantine and embedded with high-quality gemstones of every color. The backrest even featured an exquisite lotus pattern formed entirely of rubies. The raw materials alone were worth as much as a decent piece of Legendary equipment.

The White Dragon Lord severed the throne from its base and stowed it into his dimension bag.

"Everyone! Begin!"

The moment the words left his mouth, the High-Tier Legendary Dragons scattered, sprinting toward the various rooms inside the tower. Soon after, the clamor of ransacked chests and overturned cabinets echoed throughout the building.

The White Dragon Lord did not participate in the looting. He returned to the White Tower's control room to monitor the situation in the city.

Before an army of tens of thousands of dragons, resistance was impossible for the titans and giants of Ducamara. Even escaping was a luxury they could not afford. Panicked, despairing screams rang out endlessly.

Dragon Breath ravaged the streets, setting the entire city ablaze. Much like the sun sinking beneath the horizon, the historic titan city of Ducamara had met its doom.

Amid the titans' apocalypse and the dragons' wild revelry, the White Dragon Lord calmed his mind to consider their current tactical situation.

Flying from the Ice-Bound Territory to Ducamara had taken the high-performance White Tower the better part of a day. The Mother of Lightning's Floating Tower would inevitably take even longer to arrive. For the next twenty-four hours, he barely had to worry about the titans showing up out of nowhere.

The White Dragon Lord unrolled a map, plotting out their next route of attack.

As the silver moon rose, the dragons gradually returned to the White Tower. The White Dragon Lord steered the tower toward their next planned target, leaving the burning city far behind.

...

On the night of the third day, after the dragons had annihilated their twelfth target on this new continent, they boarded the White Tower and were just about to set off for the next.

"Warning! Unknown high-energy entity approaching! Speed reaching one thousand meters per second! Estimated time of arrival to the White Tower: one minute and twenty seconds!"

Hearing the Tower Spirit's warning, the White Dragon Lord's face grew solemn. He observed the White Tower's surroundings from a bird's-eye view. According to the Tower Spirit's alert, the high-energy entity was roughly eighty thousand meters away, but he could not spot a single thing.

In the Sincaro Titan World, he could not think of any high-energy target capable of turning invisible other than the Mother of Lightning's Floating Tower.

"Hurry up and enter the tower! The titans have caught up!"

His magically amplified voice blasted into the ears of the dragons lingering outside. They instantly sped up, scrambling back to the tower.

Perhaps noticing the dragons' sudden acceleration, the Titan Floating Tower dropped its camouflage and appeared out in the open. Tearing through the clouds along its path, it sprinted toward the White Tower at full power.

The White Dragon Lord watched the charging Floating Tower, visually estimating its speed at a staggering fifteen hundred meters per second.

But the White Dragon Lord did not panic in the slightest. There had not been many dragons left outside to begin with, and after hearing his warning, it took them a mere ten seconds to all safely board the White Tower.

The moment the last dragon was inside, the White Dragon Lord sharply accelerated the White Tower.

He boosted the White Tower's speed to match the Titan Floating Tower, then purposefully held it there, even slowing down slightly to let the pursuers enter his firing range. At the same time, the Metamagic Railgun began to charge.

"Everyone! These titans have been chasing us for days! We have to leave them a little gift!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the purple projectile of the Metamagic Railgun shot toward the pursuing Floating Tower, trailing a long tail of light. The dragons instantly understood the White Dragon Lord's plan—he was toying with the titans.

The dragons scrambled to the windows and other firing points, chanting incantations at breakneck speeds. An endless barrage of magic bombarded the enemy Floating Tower.

Because the titans were chasing the White Tower, it looked as though their Floating Tower was actively ramming itself into the dragons' spells. The pilot of the Titan Floating Tower was forced to dodge carefully, immediately slowing their pace.

After toying with the titans like this for a while, the Titan Floating Tower's Magic Shield remained strong. Losing interest in continuing the game, the White Dragon Lord sharply accelerated the White Tower and flew off into the distance.

The White Tower had consumed nearly half of the White Dragon Lord's entire net worth. Whether in terms of firepower or flight speed, it far surpassed an ordinary Floating Tower. This was his greatest trump card, the reason he was so confident he could destroy this world using guerrilla tactics.

Tens of minutes later, having completely shaken off his pursuers, the White Dragon Lord activated the White Tower's stealth magic array and picked a random direction to continue flying.

Mid-flight, he unrolled his map to select their next target.

"Let's see which lucky winner catches my eye. It will be you, Sinoase!"

The titan city of Sinoase was located on the edge of the continent. A port city, it served as a vital transportation hub for foreign trade within the Lord of Red Lotus's territory, its prosperity second only to capitals like Ducamara.

The White Dragon Lord piloted the White Tower toward Sinoase. For some reason, a faint sense of unease gnawed at his heart, but unable to pinpoint its source, he could only proceed with the plan.

An hour later, as the White Tower approached its target, the dragons inside excitedly eyed the distant port city.

The architectural height in Sinoase was second only to capitals like Ducamara. In titan civilization, which took immense pride in towering structures, this was undoubtedly a wealthy city. At the thought of pocketing another massive sum of riches, a surge of gratitude toward the White Dragon Lord swelled among the dragons.

After all, the vast majority of these dragons had originally come to the Sincaro Titan World merely to fight titans. They never expected the White Dragon Lord to lead them down a golden path that combined devastating their enemies with getting filthy rich.

It had been about ten days since their guerrilla campaign began. From the High-Tier Legendary Dragons down to the ordinary dragons, every single one of their private hoards had swelled. This was the main reason they were all growing increasingly willing to follow the White Dragon Lord's commands.

As for any moral qualms about acquiring wealth through robbery, the Metallic Dragons shed most of their psychological burdens the moment they remembered their victims were their mortal enemies, the titans. Let alone the Chromatic Dragons, whose primary method of amassing wealth was robbery in the first place.

Having assaulted hundreds of titan cities, the dragons had long since developed a standardized procedure for robbing them. Executing the raid with consummate skill and effortless precision, the High-Tier Legendary Dragons led the charge out of the White Tower, tearing through the Magic Shield surrounding the city's Magic Tower. What followed was always the destruction of the tower and the death of the titans inside.

Without the protection of a Magic Tower, a titan city was like a defenseless maiden, left entirely at the mercy of the burly dragon army.

The ordinary dragons divided the labor efficiently. One group blockaded the city gates, the port, and all other exits, while the rest of the army slaughtered indiscriminately until not a single living titan or giant could be seen within the city.

While the High-Tier Legendary Dragons carved up the spoils inside the Magic Tower, the ordinary dragons threw their own wild festival of destruction in the streets. Once the revelry ended, the red dragons would thoroughly ignite the city and its surrounding forests. Then, they would leave before the Titan Floating Towers could arrive, moving on to hunt their next target.

This routine had persisted for over a dozen days without a hitch, but today, an accident occurred.

"Warning! Unknown high-energy entity approaching! Speed reaching one thousand meters per second! Estimated time of arrival to the White Tower: one minute and twenty seconds!"

Just as the dragons were in the middle of their murderous arson spree through the city, the White Tower's Tower Spirit blared its alarm once again. The White Dragon Lord was shocked.

"How is this possible?!"

He chose every target at random based on the current situation. It was impossible for the titans to predict his next strike. Furthermore, he had long prepared a slew of anti-tracking spells to block Divination Spells and the like.

Unless a deity paid a massive price to cast a greater Divination Spell to pinpoint the White Tower, ordinary magic had absolutely no chance of discovering their tracks.

"Everyone! The titans have caught up! Return immediately!"

After ordering the dragons to return, the White Dragon Lord's thoughts raced like lightning.

Did Astraeus personally intervene, or is this just a coincidence?!

Even as these thoughts flashed through his mind, his hands moved quickly.

Moon's Protection!

Soul-Linking Chain!

The Magic Crystal at the top of the White Tower shot out multiple chains of mana, linking with all the High-Tier Legendary Dragons.

Almost all the dragons were currently down in the city. Just the time required for every last one of them to return to the White Tower would take three minutes. Thus, a battle was unavoidable.

Fortunately, long before the guerrilla war even began, the White Dragon Lord had considered contingency plans for all sorts of scenarios. For the specific event of a Titan Floating Tower ambushing them mid-raid, his countermeasure was to have the High-Tier Legendary Dragons cast high-yield magic in separate waves to buy time for a retreat.

Ten High-Tier Legendary Dragons per wave, split into a total of five waves, with the remaining High-Tier Legendary Dragons held in reserve for emergencies.

Instead of retreating, the High-Tier Legendary Dragons charged forward, chanting incantations at blistering speeds.

The first wave of spellcasters included the White Dragon Lord, who possessed the fastest casting speed. Aided by the White Tower's terrifying amplification capabilities, the dragons' casting speed, range, and magical potency all received a massive boost. In a mere ten seconds, a gigantic globe of ice took shape in the sky.

Legendary magic—Iceburst Meteor!

The White Dragon Lord hurled his Iceburst Meteor at the Titan Floating Tower. The massive sphere of ice plummeted like a meteor falling from the heavens. With a deafening boom, the great ice sphere detonated, blasting hyper-condensed shards of magical frost in all directions.

If it had just been the Iceburst Meteor, the titans could have withstood it using their Floating Tower's Magic Shield. But the very instant the Iceburst Meteor exploded, the legendary magic cast by the other High-Tier Legendary Dragons finished forming one after another.

Ten blasts of legendary magic cascaded toward the incoming Titan Floating Tower. Forced to defend themselves carefully, the titans' forward momentum ground to a near halt.

While the titans dealt with that barrage, the next group of High-Tier Legendary Dragons began their own incantations.

By the time the titans managed to weather the first wave through a combination of their shields and evasive maneuvers, the second wave of attacks was already upon them.

They cycled through this pattern. Once the second wave of magic was fully unleashed, every last ordinary dragon had safely entered the White Tower, and the High-Tier Legendary Dragons immediately sounded their retreat.

Relying on the Moon's Protection to tank a few incoming strikes, the White Dragon Lord steered the White Tower away, successfully shaking off the titans' pursuit.

Inside the White Tower's core control room, the High-Tier Legendary Dragons held an emergency meeting.

"What exactly is going on?!"
