White Dragon Lord

Chapter 365: The Incineration Demon Who Screwed Over His Allies

  • Next Chapter

Sular Grey Dove turned toward the sun sinking below the horizon. The blood moon would rise soon. Clearly, the White Dragon Lord and his companions had arrived at a bad time.

"It's already late. You should be with your army. Demons become terrifying under the blood moon. Let's discuss attacking Incineration City tomorrow."

"Lord Sular, the armies of Blackrock Fortress and Trident Keep have already achieved absolute victory. They should be on their way back right now."

"What? That fast?!"

Sular Grey Dove's face filled with shock. Not long ago, he had received a message from Engru Ghostwolf saying that the White Dragon Lord and the others would help him attack Incineration City, but he had never imagined it would be today.

If Mage Alan hadn't said it so seriously, Sular Grey Dove would have thought it was a joke.

"How did you manage that?"

"You'll see soon enough."

Sular Grey Dove frowned.

"Are you planning to launch an attack at this hour?! I absolutely disagree. That would be a complete disregard for the soldiers' lives."

"We don't need the soldiers. Just the few of us will do."

"Umm... Lord Amos, although the soldiers are individually weak, our battle will be very difficult without their help. After all, many ants can bite an elephant to death..."

The White Dragon Lord felt a headache coming on. Sular Grey Dove was a veteran High-Tier Legend, over five thousand years old. Ancient legends like him tended to act with extreme caution. It wasn't necessarily a bad habit, but excessive prudence often meant missing opportunities.

"Sular, please believe me. Amos and Mage Alan will definitely surprise you."

Soul Magic was the White Dragon Lord's trump card, just as space magic was Mage Alan's. Neither of them would actively advertise this fact.

In fact, it was quite the opposite. Both deliberately concealed their mastery over soul and space magic. Unless someone had fought alongside them, discovering their hidden trump cards was no easy task.

Sular Grey Dove was doubtful of the Gold Dragon's words, but he decided to trust the dragon this once. Although he didn't believe they could conquer Incineration City under a blood moon without paying a heavy price, with four High-Tier Legends moving together, Incineration City wouldn't be able to gain any advantage either.

The two humans and two dragons flew together toward Incineration City.

"Amos, just like when we dealt with Vagro Fortress, you'll lock down the space, and I'll breach the city."

"No problem."

"Then I'll provide cover. Lord Sular, act as the situation demands."

Sular: ???

Soon enough, Sular understood. As the White Dragon Lord flew, he began to chant.

Inside Incineration City, the fire demon Rabmodo Modi suddenly felt his heart tremble. He hastily checked the outside world through Incineration City's Array and spotted four High-Tier Legends flying toward the fortress. Shocked, he leaped to his feet.

"Sound the alarm! Prepare to defend!"

After ordering the demons beside him to sound the warning horns, the fire demon immediately rushed to Incineration City's control room. He poured his own magical energy into the fortress's Control Core, forming a Magic Barrier shimmering with flames in the sky above Incineration City.

As the Magic Barrier took shape, the demons also rang the warning bells within the fortress.

Clang, clang, clang!

With the bells signaling an enemy attack, the various demons inside Incineration City sprang into action. Just as creatures were naturally inclined to trust their own kind, fire-attribute demons preferred to serve under a fire demon. As a result, fire demons made up the vast majority of Incineration City's forces.

Demons wreathed in flames charged onto the City Wall. From a distance, they looked like a dense sea of torches held by a massive army.

"We won't even need to light lamps tonight," the Gold Dragon quipped. At that moment, the White Dragon Lord finished his incantation.

Dimensional Anchor!

A strange spatial energy enveloped all of Incineration City. Weak demons didn't notice anything amiss, but the demon powerhouses who understood spatial teleportation felt a shudder in their hearts. If one were to list the magic spells demons hated most, Dimensional Anchor would absolutely rank near the top.

Infuriated by the Dimensional Anchor, some demon powerhouses launched a barrage of spells toward the four arrivals. The Gold Dragon intercepted them all single-handedly.

Mage Alan began to chant, while the Gold Dragon shielded him and the White Dragon Lord.

Hearing Mage Alan's chant, the knowledgeable Sular Grey Dove recognized it as space magic. Judging by the energy it drew in, the spell Mage Alan was casting was of no low Tier. Sular instantly understood their plan and joined in to cover his allies.

There were only four enemies, while the demons held an absolute numerical advantage. Perhaps emboldened by their numbers, a portion of the demons flew straight up into the sky to charge the invaders.

Magical energy surged within Sular Grey Dove. Gray doves continuously flew out from his loose mage robes. In the blink of an eye, tens of thousands of doves swarmed out, forming a dark mass that covered the incoming demons like a massive lid.

Faced with the dense flock of doves, the demons who had flown out of the Magic Barrier had nowhere to hide. They were immediately swallowed by the swarm. Strangely, the dense flock didn't burn to death upon encountering the flaming demons. Instead, they transformed into streams of pure gray energy that drilled into their targets. Sensing the anomaly within themselves, the demons struggled in terror, but their movements grew slower and slower.

Only a few demons who had just flown past the Magic Barrier noticed the danger and fled back to the City Wall. Alongside the demons still on the ramparts, they watched the overwhelming flock of doves outside in horror. The doves crashed into the Magic Barrier, reverting into wisps of gray magical energy before dissipating into the air.

As more and more gray energy accumulated within them, the demons' bodies grew increasingly stiff. As if petrified, they lost their ability to fly and plummeted toward the earth, their bodies shattering to pieces upon impact.

Seeing the gruesome fate of their companions, the remaining demons only dared to hide behind the Magic Barrier and launch long-range spells.

In Incineration City's control room, Rabmodo Modi recognized the origins of that gray energy. He recalled a certain entity who had once been renowned throughout the Abyss, and his heart leaped in alarm.

"Arcane Trickster?!"

Rabmodo quickly realized that if that entity wanted to deal with Incineration City, the demons inside would have died before they even felt any pain.

It had to be just some lucky mage who had received that entity's inheritance.

Once he figured this out, Rabmodo cast aside his fear. Operating the fortress's Array, he began to cast. Giant fireballs, looking like burning suns, hurtled toward the group.

The Array inside the demon fortress was capable of far more than just defense; its amplification abilities were equally outstanding. The power of the fire demon's magic was boosted to twice its normal strength.

The Gold Dragon and Sular Grey Dove went all out, intercepting all the incoming attacks amidst an endless barrage of deafening explosions.

Such a high-intensity defensive task would overwhelm even High-Tier Legends if it went on too long. However, they were more than capable of buying Mage Alan a few dozen seconds of precious casting time.

Several seconds passed, and the embryonic form of the Void-Breaking Spear appeared.

Inside Incineration City's control room, the demon lord, Rabmodo Modi, nearly crushed his own teeth when he saw the spatial spear gradually taking shape. The enemy's intentions were crystal clear. The fire demon instantly knew they were forcing him to abandon Incineration City.

Countless countermeasures flashed through the fire demon's mind in an instant, but he rejected every single one. Space magic was known as the strongest, most indestructible form of magic. Unless they were facing a mighty metropolis on the level of Sky City, or an Abomination Rank powerhouse, any defense was entirely useless against it.

At that moment, the blood moon peeked over the horizon. Feeling the blood moon's energy that made demonic blood boil, a vicious intent seized the fire demon.

"Since you want to play, let's play big!"

The fire demon frantically poured his magical energy into the Control Core. A blood-red ripple of energy spread out in all directions. Any demon touched by the crimson energy instantly felt their blood boil. Their eyes turned the crimson of frenzied beasts, radiating a violent lust for slaughter.

Mass Berserk Spell: Empowered!

Immediately after, the fire demon simply deactivated the Magic Barrier entirely, abandoned the fortress, and flew toward the rear. Once he was out of the Dimensional Anchor's range, he teleported away, leaving behind a city full of crimson-eyed demons.

Under the blood moon's light, demons were already highly susceptible to frenzy. With the added effect of the Empowered Mass Berserk Spell cast by the fire demon through the fortress's Array, the situation became utterly disastrous. Even Master-Tier Demons lost their minds; only a few Legendary Demons managed to retain a shred of sanity.

As the Magic Barrier above Incineration City vanished, the White Dragon Lord and the other three High-Tier Legend powerhouses stared dumbfounded at a city full of red-eyed demons.

Just as the four had anticipated, Rabmodo Modi valued his own life far more than Incineration City. He had fled.

But they never expected that the fire demon would screw over his own allies on his way out, throwing the entire demonic horde into a berserk state.

Of course, this move also screwed over the White Dragon Lord and his group. Ignoring the massive gap in strength, the horde of demons surged toward the four in the sky. Only a minority of the demons could fly, however; the vast majority were grounded.

Like floodwaters cresting a dam, the demons inside Incineration City leaped down from the City Wall and spilled out in all directions. A final thread of sanity kept them from butchering each other, but if anyone stood in their path right now, the frenzied demons wouldn't care who it was.

The White Dragon Lord dispelled the Dimensional Anchor. Maintaining it no longer held any meaning.

"Cover Mage Alan! The Void-Breaking Spear absolutely cannot be interrupted!"

The Void-Breaking Spear was a Legendary Rank space magic. Its casting difficulty was on par with a Forbidden Spell. If Mage Alan was disrupted by the demons, the backlash would be unimaginably catastrophic.

Sular Grey Dove cast an anxious glance back at Mage Alan, then looked out at the massive horde of frenzied demons flooding toward their army's camp.

The White Dragon Lord naturally understood Sular's anxiety. Frenzied demons were like rabid boars charging recklessly at their enemies, while routed demons were mere prey concerned only with escape. Their threat levels were completely different.

"Lord Sular, go back. The two of us are enough to handle this."

Shooting the White Dragon Lord a grateful look, Sular Grey Dove summoned a massive swarm of doves from his wide robes and flew off toward the army camp.

During those few seconds of conversation, the flying demons entered the White Dragon Lord's attack range. Dragon Breath brewed within the jaws of both dragons. When facing a massive swarm of demons, nothing was more flexible or fitting than Dragon Breath.

Two differently colored cones of Dragon Breath blasted out—one ice-blue, one gold. As they maintained the stream, the two dragons swept their heads back and forth like sweeping water hoses to maximize the area of effect.

The golden, liquid-fire Dragon Breath reduced demon after demon to ash, their embers scattering across the sky.

The flying demons caught in the Ice-Blue Dragon Breath were instantly frozen into lifelike ice sculptures, locked in their poses from a second prior. They plummeted downward and shattered against the ground. Some of the frozen demons crashed directly onto the heads of those running below, smashing their companions' skulls to pieces.

Fortunately, the frenzied demons had lost their minds and only charged straight along the shortest path rather than flanking them. Unleashing their full firepower, the two dragons exterminated every demon flying at them from the front.

After holding out for more than ten seconds, Mage Alan finally completed his spell.

"Ahhhh!"

As if venting his emotions, Mage Alan shifted the trajectory of the Void-Breaking Spear, aiming and firing it diagonally into the ground below.

In the blink of an eye, a bottomless crater appeared in the earth. Through the gaping hole, the White Dragon Lord saw a fiery red glow—the molten magma deep underground.

Mage Alan shot the two dragons a grateful look before joining them in slaughtering the flying demons who were mounting their suicidal attacks.

With three High-Tier Legends attacking at full force, the flying demons were quickly wiped out. Ash from demonic corpses and blasts of frigid air swirled across the sky.

"Let's go. We need to help Lord Sular."

The two dragons and one human flew toward the army camp.

The demons capable of flight were only a small minority; the grounded demons outnumbered them by dozens of times. Moreover, before the battle began, most of the horde had clustered before the City Wall. That was the very direction from which the White Dragon Lord's group had arrived—and the direction of their army camp.

The White Dragon Lord roughly estimated that the number of enemies they still needed to slaughter was thirty times the number of flying demons.

By now, the demons inside Incineration City were still pouring out. As the White Dragon Lord and his companions flew toward their camp, they unleashed their respective abilities from the sky to massacre the demons sprinting across the ground.

The Ice-Blue Dragon Breath paved a massive avenue of frost across the earth. The demons running over it were frozen in time, forever locked in the exact moment of their sprint like statues trapped in a marathon.

The golden Dragon Breath plowed a deep trench through the ground, where molten earth and demonic ashes fused into one.

Mage Alan blasted lightning from both hands. The bolts crisscrossed, forming an electrical net that blanketed the earth, scorching every demon caught beneath it into charred husks.

It wasn't long before the White Dragon Lord spotted the heavily guarded army camp in the distance. Under Sular Grey Dove's command, the army had set up their defenses before the demons arrived, and they were holding off the horde's assault with the magical support of the legendary powerhouses and Sular Grey Dove.

"Phew, looks like everything is fine."

Suddenly, the White Dragon Lord sensed movement from the Emergency Communication Disc in his Dimensional Bag. He quickly halted and pulled out the disc. A half-body projection of Engru Ghostwolf appeared above it.

"The intelligence was wrong! Demon reinforcements are on the way. Evacuate immediately!"
