White Dragon Lord
Chapter 221: Magic Tower Completed
In the Overseas Archipelago, towering before Snowfall Peak, a cylindrical white Magic Tower fifteen hundred meters tall and five hundred meters in diameter was finally complete.
Even though he had prepared himself for this moment, the White Dragon Lord still couldn't contain his excitement. He flew round and round the Magic Tower, admiring its captivating, snow-white exterior.
The base of the pure white tower was its thickest point, tapering gracefully as it rose. At perfectly even intervals, exquisite Floating Rings encircled the structure like the joints of bamboo.
Naturally, these Floating Rings were merely decorative for now. They would only serve their true purpose in the future, once the White Dragon Lord upgraded the Magic Tower into a Floating Tower.
Six Floating Rings in total divided the above-ground portion into seven floors. Including the two subterranean levels, the Magic Tower boasted nine floors in all.
At the very top of the tower, a transparent, diamond-shaped gemstone rotated slowly, refracting dazzling light beneath the sun. This gemstone functioned much like the magic jewel set into the head of a staff, providing a massive enhancement to the tower's master.
From within the Mage Tower, Master Horace looked out the window at the white dragon and called out with a smile.
"Lord Amos, shall we begin?"
Reining in his excitement, the White Dragon Lord slipped directly inside through the massive window.
"Let's go. I can't wait to see what happens when the Magic Tower is activated!"The White Dragon Lord and Master Horace headed to the top floor of the Magic Tower, which served as its control center.
The sixth floor below housed the tower's energy source: four massive Elemental Pools.
These pools were currently empty. Once the White Dragon Lord fully activated the tower and normal operations commenced, it would draw magical elements from the air to fill them.
Inside the Magic Tower's control room, Felicia, Elena, and Willy were already waiting.
Under the watchful eyes of Master Horace and his younger dragon siblings, the White Dragon Lord rested his claw on the suspended, golden Control Core.
He branded his spiritual imprint deep inside it.
The golden Control Core instantly sprang to life. Fluid light raced across its surface as profound magical lines emitted a brilliant glow, and a silver-white rune shaped like an eye surfaced on the gold.
A mechanical, gender-neutral voice rang out.
"Core activated! Please name the Tower Spirit!"
The White Dragon Lord spoke without a second thought.
"Xiaojin!"
"Tower Spirit Xiaojin, at your service, respected Master!"
The White Dragon Lord issued his command.
"Xiaojin, run a diagnostic on the entire Magic Tower's operating status."
"Scanning. Scan complete! Defense systems operating normally! Power supply systems operating normally! ..."
Everything was normal.
Master Horace breathed a sigh of relief. This was his first time constructing a Magic Tower of this magnitude. The larger the tower, the more magic arrays required inscription, and making so many arrays operate in harmony was an immense challenge even for him.
Moreover, during the final phase of construction, the White Dragon Lord had inexplicably insisted on handling the Control Core himself, a demand that had left Master Horace deeply worried.
Fortunately, the Control Core crafted by the White Dragon Lord was a success, and its performance seemed rather excellent.
While Master Horace relaxed, the White Dragon Lord finally let go of his own lingering anxiety.
The White Dragon Lord had planned out the Control Core long ago. Unlike other mages who relied entirely on a Tower Spirit to manage their towers, he possessed an unparalleled advantage: his Gold Finger, which boasted processing power rivaling a supercomputer.
The benefits of using the Gold Finger as a Tower Spirit were self-evident. The ability to operate the tower remotely was enough reason on its own for the White Dragon Lord to take the risk.
Ultimately, Amos succeeded.
The Gold Finger successfully linked with the Magic Tower, taking the place of the Tower Spirit.
"Xiaojin, activate the Magic Tower!"
...
Three days later.
On the sixth floor of the Magic Tower, the four white dragons soaked their entire bodies in the Elemental Pools, leaving only their heads resting on the edges as they comfortably narrowed their eyes.
In this environment of highly concentrated magical energy, his younger dragon siblings were growing at astonishing speeds. The White Dragon Lord was naturally no exception; his Mage class had already reached the very peak of the Master rank.
Now, he only lacked an opportunity for his Mage progression to break through to the Legendary Rank Tier.
But opportunities were entirely unpredictable. It might require a life-and-death struggle, using the threat of death to push past his limits, or it might just take a good sleep for things to happen naturally, like when water flows, a channel is formed.
After a few days of frantic cultivation, the magic power accumulated within Amos's body had reached its absolute limit.
The White Dragon Lord glanced at his younger dragon siblings, who were still greedily absorbing mana. Bored, he rested his chin against the edge of the Elemental Pool. He had already ordered a large interdimensional Portal from the Council, but he would have to wait a while for it to arrive.
Suddenly, Amos remembered the matter of the dragon beasts.
Now was the perfect time to resolve that matter.
And his first stop, naturally, would be his most familiar kin: the White Dragon Clan.
His mind made up, the White Dragon Lord rose from the Elemental Pool. Thick, liquid magical energy splashed and cascaded down his body.
"Tower Spirit Seven, pull up the safe teleportation coordinates for the North Wind Ice Plain."
Tower Spirit Seven's mechanical voice responded.
"Retrieving spatial data for the destination."
The White Dragon Lord's eyes grew complicated. If his Magic Tower could reach the level of Sky City one day, then with the Gold Finger's control capabilities, it would undoubtedly be far more powerful than Tower Spirit Seven.
But the gap between a Magic Tower and a Floating City was like the divide between an ordinary mortal and a Legendary Rank powerhouse.
Things like this could not be rushed!
"Retrieval complete. Safe coordinates: (268964, 78943, 78949)."
The White Dragon Lord rapidly chanted an incantation. Purple magical energy converged around the white dragon, slowly forming a profound Teleportation Magic Circle. As the final syllable left his lips, Amos vanished in a flash of radiant magic.
...
The North Wind Ice Plain.
Howling gales and boundless ice and snow were the eternal themes of this tundra. Amos had once again returned to his starting point.
The White Dragon Lord gazed out over the icy expanse below. The land was blanketed in silver-white snow. Reindeer and Northland Yaks galloped across the ice while packs of winter wolves chased their prey.
Without the Dragon Mother's control, the North Wind Ice Plain had reverted to its primitive ecosystem.
The White Dragon Lord swept his gaze over the land but found nothing of note. Wasting no more time, he flew toward the east of the North Wind Ice Plain.
Over in the Frigid Tundra, east of the North Wind Ice Plain, lived another white dragon. When Amos and his younger dragon siblings were originally charting their routes, they had deliberately avoided this strange white dragon's territory.
But now, Amos had grown up. With combat strength rivaling a High-Tier Legend, he stood at the very peak of the White Dragon Clan's pyramid in Nordhill. Naturally, there was no longer any need to fear this old neighbor.
The White Dragon Lord flew swaggeringly toward the Frigid Tundra.
Upon entering the Frigid Tundra, Amos looked over the vast expanse of frozen land and frowned slightly. In such a massive territory, where was the dragon nest?
After a moment of thought, the White Dragon Lord's brow smoothed out.
"Grandson! Get out here and meet your grandpa!" (in dragon language)
Boosted by Amplification Magic, his voice instantly echoed across the entire Frigid Tundra.
Rather than searching for a dragon nest he didn't know the location of, it was much easier to hurl insults and force the target white dragon to come out on their own.
The universal taunt worked beautifully. From a massive ice crevasse in the Frigid Tundra came a furious roar.
"Who is it! Who dares disturb the slumber of the Mother of Tidal Snow!"
