White Dragon Lord

Chapter 206: The Great War Begins

  • Next Chapter

Demonic creatures continuously exploded into pieces against the Protective Shield, raining a mixture of black demon blood and bodily remains down around Sky City.

The battle was still in its probing phase. The Demon Church controlled a massive swarm of flying demonic creatures, entirely encircling Sky City to drain its energy reserves. Neither side's forces at or Above High-Tier Legend had made a move yet.

Naturally, it wasn't the Council members' turn to participate in such a minor skirmish.

The White Dragon Lord took to the sky, standing alongside the numerous Council members to face off against the demonic forces' High-Tier Legends in the distance.

Even before the two sides clashed, the air was already thick with tension.

The White Dragon Lord compared the number of High-Tier Legends on both sides, finding his faction held a numerical advantage of four. In terms of quality, the Council members, bolstered by Sky City, were certainly no weaker than their opponents.

Amos immediately felt reassured. Scanning his colleagues, he realized the Silver Dragon Scholar and the Brotherhood Warriors were absent. His only acquaintance here was the red-bearded dwarf, Muradin Firebeard. The White Dragon Lord quietly asked him, "Senior Muradin, what gives these demons the nerve to attack Sky City?!"

The moment the question left his mouth, the White Dragon Lord regretted it.

Muradin Firebeard bellowed with the distinctive booming voice of a dwarf, "How should I know what kind of madness has taken them! But it's just as well—my axe hasn't tasted demon blood in a long time! Hahaha!"

Thanks to the dwarf's booming voice, the two of them instantly became the center of attention.

The White Dragon Lord rubbed his forehead in exasperation.

At that moment, an unfamiliar Gold Dragon approached uninvited to answer his question.

"These demons have no other choice. They are being forced into action."

The White Dragon Lord shifted his gaze to the Gold Dragon, guessing his identity. This was the newly advanced High-Tier Legend: the Gold Dragon, Leopold Chodmartin.

Leopold Chodmartin smiled and continued, "The 'Great Cleanup' operation severely damaged the Demon Church's plans. If they don't attack Samiria now, they'll lose all hope once His Excellency the Speaker clears out the Underdark and cripples their forces. That is why they were forced to launch their offensive early."

Realization dawned on the White Dragon.

"I see."

The Gold Dragon gazed at the distant demons, a deep wariness flashing in his eyes.

"Speaking of which, we must thank you, Councilor Amos. If you hadn't uncovered the evil hidden in the Underdark while out in the Overseas Archipelago, the Speaker wouldn't have realized the severity of the problem so quickly. Had we waited for the Demon Church to launch a sudden attack fully prepared, they wouldn't be nearly this easy to deal with."

The surrounding Council members nodded in agreement, their gazes toward the White Dragon Lord turning noticeably friendlier.

"You flatter me."

The White Dragon Lord observed the enemy's lineup of High-Tier Legends.

"Still, it's quite surprising that the Demon Church managed to amass such formidable power right under the Council's nose."

The Gold Dragon shared the sentiment. "Demonic secret arts are truly miraculous. They can grant a person tremendous power in a very short time."

After a moment of thought, the Gold Dragon continued, "But the cost and side effects are equally immense. The vessels for these secret arts must be professionals who reached the Legendary Rank through their own cultivation. Whether the secret art succeeds or fails, they won't live much longer."

Hearing this, the White Dragon Lord rapidly chanted an incantation.

Soul Sight!

Through Soul Sight, the White Dragon Lord discovered it was exactly as the Gold Dragon had said. The bodies of these High-Tier Legends, forcibly elevated through demonic secret arts, were highly unstable. They possessed formidable physical forms, but their souls were incredibly weak.

A weak soul could not properly control a powerful body. It was like a novice driver attempting to handle a massive truck; they might force it forward for a short while, but given time, it would inevitably end in a fatal crash.

Right now, these bastards were essentially unstable bombs.

The White Dragon Lord glanced around. This must be why the Council members remained wary of their opponents despite holding the advantage in strength.

Through Soul Sight, the White Dragon Lord determined that out of the enemy's twelve Legends, seven had been forcibly elevated via secret arts. Among the remaining five, three were formidable demonic avatars—including the Thousand-Handed Demon, Ramsdenvalen, whom he had encountered before—leaving only two genuine High-Tier Legends.

The thunderous explosions continued to ring out.

Suddenly, the voice of the Grand Duke Silver Dragon, who was steering Sky City, echoed in everyone's minds.

"Everyone, it is time to strike. If Sky City expends too much energy, we won't be able to handle any sudden surprises."

The Council members exchanged glances. At that moment, a highly respected veteran Elven High-Tier Legend stepped forward and called out to the group through a mental link.

"Everyone, the enemy has reached our doorstep. Hold nothing back. If something goes wrong with Sky City, none of us will escape the consequences."

They looked at one another, nodding in mutual agreement.

"Now!"

Moving in perfect harmony, sixteen High-Tier Legendary Level Council members abruptly charged out from within the Protective Shield.

The White Dragon Lord and the Gold Dragon Leopold Chodmartin flapped their wings, flying diagonally upward. The massive shadows cast by the two Dragons enveloped the melee professionals charging below them. Behind these vanguard fighters, the spellcasters chanted rapidly.

The sole High-Tier Legend priest aimed the Sacred Scripture in his hands, firing beams of light that landed on the close-quarters professionals, enveloping them in golden shields.

Mass Divine Spell—Protection of Light!

The Mages completed their incantations, casting a dazzling array of magical buffs onto their charging companions.

Master Tier Magic—Mass Dragon Strength!

Master Tier Magic—Mass Steel Skin!

Master Tier Magic—Mass Advanced Agility!

Master Tier Magic—Mass Mental Agility!

Relying on his formidable Dragon physique, the White Dragon Lord was essentially half a melee professional himself, so the rear spellcasters made sure to include him in their buffs.

After receiving this full suite of enhancements, the White Dragon Lord felt his blood boiling; his combat prowess surged exponentially!

It was almost comparable to the strength he possessed before his bloodline was sealed!

The moment the melee professionals charged out of the Protective Shield, they unleashed their respective techniques. Massive fists and palms, combined with the sweeping blasts of one white and one golden Dragon Breath, instantly annihilated the demonic beasts swarming Sky City.

At that moment, the giant purple gemstone atop Samiria's highest Mage Tower—where the Grand Duke Silver Dragon held command—scattered rays of magical brilliance that sank into the backs of the Council members.

Legendary Magic—Protection from Instant Death!

Legendary Magic—Iron Will!

Legendary Magic—Soul Barrier!

With Sky City making its move, three supportive legendary magics were immediately bestowed upon the Council members.

The Nordhill forces surged with unstoppable momentum.
