When the Side Character Gets a System and Travels through Difference Worlds
Chapter 762: Jiaojiao 42
Brother Hu refused to believe it. After drinking a glass of water, he went back to sleep. The result, of course, was a repeat of the whole process. First came all sorts of titillating scenes, and then he would be suddenly startled awake. This went on until seven in the morning. Brother Hu was still trying to act tough, but everyone else was completely exhausted.
Leopard Brother was the first to sum it up. “This must be her follow-up move. How on earth did she do it?”
Brother Long was also curious. “Doctor Cai, have you ever heard of a drug like this? Is there a cure?”
Old Cai clutched his notebook, his eyes shining with excitement as he shook his head repeatedly. “Unheard of. But considering Brother Hu starts dreaming the moment he falls asleep, I also believe this is Miss Chen’s follow-up move.”
“For now, it just seems to make Brother Hu dream. As for his physical condition, there really is no damage.”
A Hall Master chimed in, “No physical damage, sure. But imagine if, in the future, right when you’re about to do the deed, you suddenly picture skeletons and rotting flesh… I’m afraid you’ll never get it up again, will you?”
Brother Hu had always prided himself on his legendary stamina. How could he tolerate someone saying he couldn’t perform? He immediately shot back, “The hell I can’t! I’m perfectly fine!”
He even gave his hips a little thrust as he spoke, but in the next second, Brother Hu’s expression changed completely, turning even uglier than when the nightmares had startled him awake. “Doctor, Doctor, why can’t I feel anything?”
Old Cai adjusted his glasses. ‘And I actually thought Miss Chen was going easy on him this time,’ he thought. ‘Turns out *this* was what she had in store. This is about a man’s dignity. How could that be a small problem?’
Besides, being unable to perform in that department was a much more devastating blow than getting stabbed a couple of times. News like this would also spread much faster and wider. From now on, whenever anyone mentioned Brother Hu, they would surely think of him as “the one who can’t get it up.”
Despite his thoughts, Old Cai quickly checked Brother Hu’s pulse. “Your pulse seems perfectly fine. Brother Hu, if you’re still worried, how about I try some acupuncture?”
Brother Hu nodded eagerly. He wouldn’t have been this panicked even if he’d been stabbed twice. If he couldn’t perform in that department, what kind of man was he?
But as Old Cai administered the acupuncture, Brother Hu’s body responded normally everywhere else. Only when “that area” was stimulated did he feel absolutely nothing at all.
Old Cai withdrew the silver needles. “My skills are too crude. There’s really nothing I can do.”
Seeing Brother Hu’s miserable expression, Brother Long found the situation both amusing and a little terrifying. “Look on the bright side. Just treat this as a period of recuperation, okay? Didn’t the doctor also suggest you work on your health?”
Leopard Brother, ever the blunt one, said, “She might have said three months, but what if after three months…”
A Hall Master quickly pulled Leopard Brother aside. Couldn’t he see Brother Hu was grinding his back teeth? Saying that now was just twisting the knife in the wound.
Brother Hu’s face was grim. “This isn’t over!”
Her methods were too vicious. For someone in the underworld, earning a reputation for impotence… how could he ever show his face again?
Brother Long put a restraining hand on his shoulder. “We walked right into her trap without even understanding how. If we go looking for trouble now, we’ll just end up having to beg her for help later. We can’t afford that kind of humiliation. Look at what happened to Ye Rong and Yuan Sheng.”
Leopard Brother said earnestly, “Second Brother, just listen to Big Brother. It’s only three months, isn’t it? If you’re still like this after three months, we’ll definitely go find her and get even for you!”
Brother Hu gritted his teeth. “Fine! We’ll give her three months!”
Chen Jiao rolled over in bed. “So… in three months, this Brother Hu guy will be… functional again?”
Tan You flicked her fingers. “If he’s still enthusiastic about such things after three months, I’ll have to admit he has guts of steel.”
Chen Jiao blinked. “What do you mean?”
Tan You smiled. “Every time he closes his eyes, he’ll just see beautiful women as skeletons. Psychologically, he should lose all interest in such things. If he can still get aroused by that, then he’s certainly not an ordinary man.”
Chen Jiao couldn’t help but shiver at the thought. “Let’s not talk about him. Just imagining it is enough to kill any mood I might have.”
Tan You changed the subject. “Then let’s drop it. I’ve sent the new script to your email. Print it out when you get to the office. I’ve also made the corresponding career plans for the company’s artists. You just need to announce them.”
Chen Jiao looked up, smiling at Tan You. “Okay, I’ll listen to everything my teacher says. Teacher, how do I act like a boss? I don’t know how.”
Tan You teased her, “What happened to all that pouting and glaring from before?”
Chen Jiao shook her head frantically. “No, no more of that. It’s embarrassing just thinking about it. But I really don’t know how…”
Tan You didn’t hesitate to put Zong Qi forward. “Then let Zong Qi do it. It’s a waste of his talent for him to be just an assistant. Your focus should be on studying scripts. Let Zong Qi oversee the company’s operations.”
“He’s pretty good at intimidating people, but right now, you’re the one who’s truly scary. Believe me, when you get to the office, absolutely no one will dare get in your face.”
Chen Jiao pouted. “Because of Brother Hu? Does news really travel that fast?”
Tan You flicked her fingers. “Of course. After all, no one wants to mysteriously lose their… function.”
Things went exactly as Tan You had predicted. From the moment Chen Jiao entered the company, people just greeted her politely. No one dared to joke with her like they had the previous night; every single person’s expression was completely serious.
Chen Jiao whispered in Zong Qi’s ear, “So… everyone knows?”
Zong Qi’s ears twitched. “Yeah. News in the underworld travels the fastest. G City is a small place; any little rumor spreads like wildfire.”
After a moment’s thought, Chen Jiao suddenly smiled. “That’s good, too. It’s better for them to be afraid of me than to show no respect.”
Zong Qi thought so too. By the time they sat down in the conference room, Chen Jiao was no longer the wallflower hiding in the corner. She took her rightful place at the head of the table, with Zong Qi seated to her right.
Chen Jiao handed out the printed scripts. “This is the script for the new film. Anyone interested can come and audition. Brother Qi, have you contacted Liu Fu?”
Zong Qi replied, “I have. He’ll be here at two this afternoon.”
Chen Jiao smiled. “Good. If you all have other work, you can get back to it. If we decide to produce this script, the company will hold official auditions. Any other questions?”
“No!” everyone answered in unison. At a time like this, even if they had questions, they would have said no.
Even Chen Jiao was taken aback by the force of their reply. She gave a small smile. “From now on, my main focus will be on filming. Brother Qi will manage the company, so if you have any issues, please go to him.”
Zong Qi’s gaze swept across the conference room. “If there are any issues, you come to me.”
Chen Jiao relayed Tan You’s plans one by one, and the artists who had been worried about their job prospects began to relax. It seemed the company was very responsible after all; the career paths planned for them were quite suitable.
At the very end, Chen Jiao asked the recording engineer and the music arranger to stay behind. “Could you two gentlemen stay for a moment? I’ve been thinking about producing an album. I already have the lyrics and music prepared. Shall we have a quick meeting about it shortly?”
The smiles on the faces of the recording engineer and arranger looked more pained than if they had been crying. They wanted nothing more than to steer clear of Chen Jiao, but now they had to produce an album for her. ‘President Chen won’t… you know… do *that* to us in the middle of production, will she?’ they wondered.
