Chapter 1434: Chapter 1343: The Final 2 Days (Double-Length Chapter)_3
As the last cavalryman fled the camp, only to be shot in the back by a blood contract and fall from his horse, the entire camp finally recovered from the chaos.
Immediately, they all began to madly cheer Serafe’s name.
After all, if not for her, while they might have repelled the enemy, there would have been more casualties.
"Look, the Holy Alliance only uses such petty tactics," Serafe said, standing on a high platform with her hands behind her back. "If you ask me, they came just at the right time, barely a thousand cavalrymen, what is there to fear?"
"Long live the sovereign!"
"May the sovereign live forever!"
Under the urging of the officers and special war observers, the soldiers began to jump and clap in applause, cheering.
"Alright, tidy up the camp, continue to rest, once we reach the Hot Intestine Valley, we’ll give them a good show!" Serafe, quite the heroic leader, waved her hand, dismissing the soldiers.
"At your command, Your Majesty!"
"Count the casualties! Treat the injured! Strengthen vigilance!"
"At your command, Your Majesty!"
Having witnessed Serafe’s might, her credibility increased among these clan elites.
Seeing the soldiers tidying up, Serafe circled the perimeter a few times, met with some ordinary wounded soldiers, and then returned to her tent.
Just upon returning, she took off her robe and collapsed in a chair.
Several attendants approached, only to find in shock that the shape of her heart was clearly visible beneath her silk nightgown clinging to her body.
Yes, a heart-shaped object was visibly beating at Serafe’s chest.
"Majesty, the interrogation is complete," Lakunio said, approaching with a blood-stained Longsword.
"Speak," Serafe said with her eyes closed, not looking at Lakunio.
"This wasn’t a rear guard pursuit but a vanguard cavalry detour from the northern side of Winter Embrace River—the Holy Alliance has been pursuing in parallel."
"Parallel pursuit?" Serafe’s hand rubbed the armrest, veins bulging on her forehead.
The continuous marching, the tragic death of comrades, the loss of possessions, and the sudden night raid had worn the soldiers’ morale thin.
Though Serafe had just boosted their spirits, it was only temporary.
Without solving the fundamental problem, she couldn’t use her Spell repeatedly; each use nearly consumed her lifespan.
Until the very last moment, it cannot be used.
Yet the Holy Alliance cavalry could continue to raid, and the repeated attacks shattered the Royal Court soldiers’ morale.
"Lakunio, what do you think?"
Lakunio pondered for a moment: "Dispatch triple the Scouts to closely monitor both north and south banks, but the Holy Alliance won’t give us much time."
"I know," Serafe impatiently interrupted him, "I asked what method you have to solve this problem."
Lakunio remained silent for a long time, long enough for Serafe to nearly lose all patience before he spoke: "Majesty, you know that in chess, you must focus on the exchange of value, the time for exchange has come."
"What do you mean? Perhaps be clearer."
"Some vampire soldiers struggle to follow; we might as well let them rest, fight the enemy to delay them."
"You’re saying..." Serafe shifted from lounging to sitting upright, "A massive rear guard? How large?"
"Ten thousand."
"There can’t be that many."
"You reported that reinforcements are coming from the Hot Intestine Valley, they need to hold the enemy, help the reinforcements for a siege battle, what do you think?"
For the first time, Serafe solemnly scrutinized Lakunio, for a moment she truly began to doubt.
But Lakunio’s icy face showed no hint of emotion.
Only helplessness, compared to other clan elders who offered no plans, this was the optimal solution.
Serafe looked right towards the gradually quiet camp, then left towards the direction of the Hot Intestine Valley.
Past midnight, it was already December 12th.
Of the six-day countdown, now only two days remained.
"Then let’s... do it!"
