Zhou Chengchen was not keen on revealing his brother’s secrets, but since he had already started, he might as well continue.

The five of them stayed in Xi Siyan’s apartment until about eleven o’clock, leaving the remaining space and time for them to have their private world.

Before leaving, Zhou Chengchen and Zhou Qi arranged to return to the Zhou Family the next day. As they spoke, he gave Xiao Rou an ambiguous look, one that implied everything without words.

Liu Xiaoyu went back to her own home, while Zhou Qi and the other two returned to their team. An Rui, though not very emotionally intelligent, at least understood when he shouldn’t be a third wheel.

After being the third wheel the whole way, An Rui sensibly left first once Zhou Qi parked the car in its spot.

Zhou Qi and Xiao Rou walked behind. An Rui’s actions weren’t necessary, but Zhou Qi didn’t mind spending a little more time with Xiao Rou.

Xiao Rou walked slowly, and Zhou Qi matched her pace. After a while, Zhou Qi spoke, “What’s wrong? Something on your mind?”

Xiao Rou pressed her lips together and stopped walking. Facing the cold wind, she looked at Zhou Qi standing under the streetlight.

“Um… I heard something from Cheng Chen.”

“Hmm?”

“She said… she said you’ve liked me since a long time ago?”

The last few words almost caught in her throat. Xiao Rou spoke somewhat unnaturally. It’s not that she didn’t believe Zhou Chengchen’s words, it’s just that saying such things herself, being personally involved, felt a bit embarrassing.

But Xiao Rou wanted to know, she really wanted to know.

Zhou Qi had also stopped walking and looked down at her.

The streetlight’s dim yellow light cast a hazy, almost unreal glow over Zhou Qi’s handsome face.

Xiao Rou felt her heart racing faster and faster. Then, she saw Zhou Qi’s lips curve into a smile—a smile he’s always had, casual yet now with an added seriousness.

“Yes.”

Zhou Qi didn’t say much, just responded lightly.

Xiao Rou felt her heart instantly reach its peak, her mind blank, but the words came out.

“Then why didn’t you say anything before?”

She had hesitated, worried, and been anxious for so long. Those feelings might seem nostalgic now, but at the time, they were quite unpleasant.

In the end, her feelings lasted only about a month, but according to Zhou Chengchen, Zhou Qi’s situation lasted for many years.

Xiao Rou quietly looked at Zhou Qi, but Zhou Qi just smiled, “It’s all in the past.”

Xiao Rou frowned and, for once, stubbornly wanted to get to the bottom of it. She had a feeling that Zhou Qi’s silence wasn’t just because he was afraid she wouldn’t like him and then things would be awkward.

There must be another reason he stayed silent.

But seeing Zhou Qi’s demeanor now, he didn’t seem to intend to explain.

Xiao Rou took a step forward, speaking earnestly, “I want to know.”

Zhou Qi’s expression changed slightly. He was silent for a few seconds before he sighed, “Let’s go back first, I’ll tell you once we’re inside, it’s cold out here.”

They walked into the villa, An Rui had already returned to his room, and the living room was empty.

They didn’t turn on the lights and went straight upstairs. Xiao Rou followed Zhou Qi to his room. Zhou Qi poured her a cup of warm water, then sat beside her, lightly tapping the edge of the cup with his fingers. After another moment of silence, he laughed self-deprecatingly, “I’ll tell you, but you can’t get mad.”

Xiao Rou was a bit confused. Mad? Why would she be mad?

“Alright, I won’t get mad.”

“Do you remember that love letter?”

Love letter?

Xiao Rou furrowed her brows, quickly realizing what Zhou Qi was referring to.
